    Tiago, you had already rocked my world with PARA and CODE. I bought copies of BASB in hardcover, e-book and Audible so I could digest it repeatedly in each of the formats. Now, Milanotes has been another big step. I've been diagnosed with adult-onset ADHD and it's been quite severe. After your recommendation, I played with it for about 30 minutes and then I purchased the full subscription. Folder structures made me glaze over but MIlanotes is so versatile, I can customize it and make things pop all on one board. I haven't been this excited since the earlier days of Evernote, which I now find unreliable. Thank you for producing such great content. I will continue to spread the gospel of PARA.

    • @oraltext99
      @oraltext99 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you hit the nail on the head for me about the ADHD - this system liberates me from the obsession of constantly reorganizing my stacks in evernote but gives me enough structure to leverage the “curse” of an ADHD mind (often the “blessing” or unique perspective that people often cite they value from me). I feel like I’ve finally got a digital tool that best fits my brain. I now feel anchored just enough to align with the purpose I’m capturing these notes without losing the eureka moment. To me, this is eunoia in a digital system.

    Looks good for planning an individual project because it's so visual, but I think overall, Obsidian is the place to store your overall second brain. An app is measured long-term if it is good or bad. The more information you collect, it defines the quality of an app. Milanote looks nice in Tiago's introduction, and I will give it a try, but it is all matter of time if it will be a great or a bye-bye app. As for Notion, Obisidian, and similar apps, I cannot understand how people like apps that you become a slave of the apps. All day to tweak and adjust and organize notes. Out of my understanding. I'm in a big junction with Notes app right now and hope to find a good one.

    This timely video popped up just as I was getting ready to sign up for Scrivener as I am working on a personal creative endeavour and was struggling with Evernote and Notion to find the arc of where it was going. Am I ever glad that I watched this! I've enjoyed this long weekend exploring Milanote and was unable to unlock some key insights for my project without the distracting need to relearn formatting codes when using other applications like Roam and Obsidian. I've now signed up for Milanotee premium because it is delightfully easy to use and the visual-spatial feature is why I prefer to read books instead of Kindle to aid my recall ability.

  • @nommh
    @nommh ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Wow! Not only have you convinced me that Milanote might be right for me (although it will still take a lot of work to set it up), but I love the differentiation between projects and areas. I don’t need this for work, because alas, my creativity projects won’t pay me enough in their current form. I need this to bring together sewing and crochet patterns (mostly digital) with yarn and fabric. So I may not only subscribe to milanote, but have a look at your organising suggestions - I have so many ideas, so many options that my brain very often implodes and is incapable of doing anything at all. I have read Luhmann and am convinced, that if I do the organising my second brain will give me more freedom.

    How can I export all of my note objects to an external system so that I can safely store it locally or offline?

  • @markpalfreeman
    @markpalfreeman ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey Tiago, I'm curious how you found the search capabilities, or how you considered the tradeoff of "future-proofing" when building everything into one app (Markdown is more transferable, etc).
    Thanks for sharing a great example of this!

    • @AndresArosemena
      @AndresArosemena ปีที่แล้ว

      I would also like to know this

    • @TiagoForte
      @TiagoForte  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Search worked just fine - though I'd suggest a visual notes app tends to be intrinsically better for retrieval (visual-spatial relationships are intuitive for humans) as well as spontaneous inspiration, especially if you use boards with something like PARA
      Not worried about future proofing as eventually, we are all going to die, even in life our information's timeliness expires (so it's important to use it, not hoard it forever), you can export PDFs and other formats if you need them (allowing you to safely archive if you leave the app), and so on.
      I'll still use a traditional text-based app to store my purely writing-based notes too; an app like this is like rocket fuel for projects and inspiration that benefits visually, not for everything.
      Good qs

    This is great, but what I really want to see is Adobe's inclusion in this metaverse or spatial computing...
    Imagine using photoshop in it, or editing videos in spatial computing (I know the standalone headsets currently cannot handle all that) but at least even the ability to do it via link cable would be great, throw all the computing power into your computer and just working via spatial computing... I really hope adobe gets on these types of things soon... If they are not someone else is most likely already working on it and will take over Adobe as soon as they can :D
