as a musician, that bit about drummers is honestly suprisingly accurate. If they've got a pair of sticks nearby, they're totally drumming on anything mildly flat
My thoughts exactly!! Don’t get me wrong..Danny is hilarious and usually always right…but that part of the movie is definitely accurate!! My big brother is a drummer; has always banged on everything with his sticks or just his hands! He still does it (in his 40’s now)!! Hell, my dad was the lead singer in a band (and played guitar), and he was always slapping his knees and banging on everything to keep the rhythm whenever he heard music!
I’ve been playing the drums for ten years and I’m constantly tapping my foot/tapping a beat on my thighs. a lot of drummers over time just find rhythm in literally everything and wanna play along lol
Actually, as a drummer, the drummer stereotype in movies is accurate. It’s a problem. We can never stop. Help. I’ve caused so much destruction and pain.
@@Azucenary Seriously. I drive everyone crazy because the tapping never ends. I have to consciously think about not tapping or I will do it without even realizing half the time.

IRL the Jonas Brothers HATED how they're portrayed in Disney movies/shows, especially Kevin, they would constantly sneak in shitty performances, dance stupid, try to basically sabatoge their on camera presence so Disney would use them less when they were under contract, Disney was also super abusive to their female leads, strict weight control, they'd be pushed to do movies they didn't want to, all for movies and shows that we only remember because we were young and impressionable so now it translates to nostalgia

"this is rich, but apparently you're not" is hands down the best line in the movie 😭😭😭 also how old are Shane and Mitchie?? because he's a counselor and she's a camper so like what's their age gap like?? is it just me that is concerned about this
Literally all of his jokey songs slap soooo hard I bump it so often (check out Ima kill Santa clause) Personally speaking though he should shorten them to like 3 second snippets and make them more interesting (joking),
4:46 as someone who grew up with an older brother who loved the drums, this is 100% accurate. He had different drumsticks around the house that he would pick up and fiddle/play with an any given moment. He had a pair hidden in the couch. This went on from 10 ish years old into his early 20s. And he only stopped cause he moved out.
Right?? That’s the worst part of it, seeing her mum’s reaction. They could have gone way harder on it too. Especially as it was her mum who got her to camp rock in the first place
My biggest issue with all these Disney movies is that the teenagers/pre-teen characters have bedrooms the size of a literal studio apartment. My childhood bedroom was like 8’x9’ like come on now
No movie proves this point more than High School Musical where Gabriella has like a thousand square foot bedroom with a balcony in the home her single mother was able to afford!? Like where did her mom sleep?
IDK if thats true, you might be confusing camp counseling with education counseling. In my experience counselors are around 16-18 years old, or even the same age as the campers because its all volunteering work.
fun fact: parts of camp rock (all the unhinged dance studio scenes, demi lovato crying in a corner, etc) were filmed at my summer camp where i worked for years and i just have to live with that knowledge and act normal when i know i worked in the place they filmed part of camp rock in.
Dude I love how literally every Disney channel movie is the same. It's about a shy teenage girl who wants the world to hear her voice and falls in love with a popular boy but is up against the popular girl
And then there's also the second type of Disney Channel original movies that's about a socially outcasted teenager who gets ahold of military grade and extremely dangerous technology and uses it to design their ideal version of the opposite sex while simultaneously robbing them of their humanity, and that plan ends up backfiring and the conclusion is just "yea maybe I shouldn't have done that"
Honestly if my mother was running the food distribution at the camp I wouldn't be afraid to tell anybody because now I can tell them. "F*ck with me and I poison your food."
I personally always liked that Margaret won. Mitchie did lie all summer, and even if she was talented, she only came up at the very end after they announced jury will decide. Its like the only ever teen movie where the main character had at least some consequences for her actions. Sure she had the guy and everybody was impressed, but at least there was no bitterness that other campers could feel if she had been a lying and then won even tho the contest was already closed. The applause would sound very salty Not to mention that Margaret winning gave that feel that sure Mitchie is talented and the main character but she's not the ONLY talented person here.
I still felt like the reason she was kicked out of the contest was dumb, I wish they would have come up with a better reason. I also thought it was weird how they kept hyping up that they were gonna kiss, but they didn’t.
22:43 its because Mitchie isnt officially a contestant for the Final Jam. She gets disqualified for… either the lie or bc of some other shenanigan idk. She does perform after all the contenders are done performing and “Final Jam is over” but she just wanted her moment, and she did. And her performance WAS the definitive best one, but she cant win bc she wasnt a contestant.
Also I like to think that even if she was a contestant, the fact that one of the judges was singing with her (showing obvious bias) would have at LEAST removed some points off
im really glad they made it so the other girl won and didnt do the very disney-esque trope of saying the main character won anyway because of some special clause or because the performance was Just That Good
can we appreciate the fact that this man can just randomly make a song and a badass music video about the most random thing and it's the best thing ever?
im mostly worried that danny himself doesn't even realize how insanely talented he is. almost as if in his mind he's still "that kid from vine who just happened to have made it big" instead of the creative powerhouse he is
How we feel seeing Margret win the whole competition after a weirdly emotional performance when we know very little about her is probably how all the side characters in Disney movies feel about the protagonist's journey. Like imagine just a random camper being like "wait who? Mitchie? Oh I think I've seen her at lunch once or twice? Oh she lied about her parents? Okay? Oh now she's doing a big song? Oh now that super famous pop star is joining in? Okay I don't really know what's going on, I feel like I missed a lot of pivotal moments concerning her this summer".
I never realized that there were so many familiar faces and recognizable actors and actresses in this movie, like so many of them are either extras or stars in the Disney shows most people grew up with.
@@whyiseverysinglehandletaken2 He could just have friends who speak and have the same grammar as him, I mean guess that's why they may be friends, or you're telling me that this guy has totally no life so much so that he comments on multiple videos simultaneously just when they are released?

@gamingrainbowandothers293He reacted to a movie called 'Scales: Mermaids are real' I think it was named that anyway one of the characters had brittle bones disease AKA 'squishy bones' so he keeps referring to that movie as 'bones are squishy'
Idk if Danny is gonna see this but for some insight - the reason “This Is Me” probably sounds like Christian Rock to you is because it’s written partially by Adam Watts who is known in the music scene for writing and producing Christian music that has sold over 50 million copies worldwide. He also shares the credit of helping write Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney; as well as helping to write and produce the music for High School Musical 1-3, Jump In, Hannah Montana Seasons 1-4, even for the Jonas Brothers, and Aly & AJ. So that’s a fun little fact there I suppose.
my band directors had a no-drumming rule in our buses and in-class while they were talking in high school bc the drumline kids would always drum on everything when they didn't have their drum pads lmao
Each time I watch the movie I DIE laughing "oh this is rich, but apparently you're not", "drowned in her lies", and of course the "can't a guy get some peace". For a Disney channel original movie the characters can be RUTHLESS and venemous in thsi movie. Its so hilarious. And peak mean is Shane hosting a class to like yell at Mitchy as she's sobbing in the corner and nobody in the class gives a shit lmfao
As someone who dresses in 1930s-inspired suits and ties pretty much every day, complete with cufflinks and a pocket watch, I feel like, "Oh, this is rich, but apparently you're not," is the perfect comeback to someone in public getting all salty over me dressing how I feel comfortable. Thank you, Lord Danny, for providing me this boon.
Let’s go over Shane’s story real quick. Fell in love with girl’s voice, can’t find girl, doesn’t realize the girl who he was looking for is the one who’s literally standing in front of him, unintentionally falls in love with the girl he heard, then realizes that the girl with the ✨magical✨ voice and the one he fell for are the same person. Little did everyone know, Shane is actually Prince Eric’s great- great- great grandson
As a former band person, the bit about drummers is so accurate tho. It would drive so many people insane because if someone was a drummer, they were drumming all the time. One of my friends would curl his pointer fingers and drum using his knuckles on books, desks, the walls, etc. So there is a stigma, but it is the most deserved stigma ever.
Literally all the dedicated drummer kids I know are like this. They don't even need to be energetic. Half the time, they're literally just practicing a song on the table. I was on the bus for a band trip on time, and I heard drumming on the back of my seat. I turn around, and this kid has his sticks and sheet music out as he began playing his heart out on this chair like it was a snare drum. That is literally every percussionist I've ever met. As long as they have their sticks, they will be playing a beat.
yeah it doesn't really work with other instruments. trumpet guys are SUPER annoying but their powers are diminished a lot when their trumpets aren't physically present
I like how Mitchie has a lot of music instruments and a good microphone too in her bedroom and then her mom is like " Sorry, you can't go to Camp Rock, we are short on money. " How did she got so much good music stuff then ?
She said "we can't swing it right now" which I think implies that they are just currently going through a financial low. Like maybe at the beginning of the year she had a few big catering gigs that gave them some extra income to splurge, and now they're lower on cash.
She hides her face with a bag of chips, she runs, she ends up slipping, she gets all soaking wet, her clothes are soaked, her bones are squishy, she's humiliated. The best joke to say multiple times.
can’t believe danny skipped over “that’s the song…SO THAT MUST BE THE GIRL!!!!!” at final jam. i literally quote that every time someone realizes anything in front of me. that disney original inflection was strong in it
Mitchie introduced herself as “Mitchie Torres”, and the campers call Mitchie’s mom “Mrs. Torres”. Are you telling me that not a single person at that camp connected the dots?? 😭😭

Whats hilarious is that when Mitchie says that her Dad owns a hardware store, the popular girls just leave. Man, owning an entire damn hardware store has to be worth something right? I mean think about how many hoops this man had to go through!
Yeah but hardware stores have nothing to do with music or the music industry, therefore it means nothing to them. 😆 That's how these kinds of movies work. as a musician, that bit about drummers is honestly suprisingly accurate. If they've got a pair of sticks nearby, they're totally drumming on anything mildly flat
Ya I was watching that like 😳
My thoughts exactly!!
Or curved. We're not too picky.
ong, my best friend when I was a kid had an older brother and anytime we went anywhere with him he brought his sticks and used the dashboard as a drum
Actually, as a drummer, the drummer stereotype in movies is accurate. It’s a problem. We can never stop. Help. I’ve caused so much destruction and pain.

I love how in almost all movies, especially Disney movies, “poor” is always considered lower upper middle class.

@@harliecurcio1705 Same could be said about this movie tho. Other campers were simply rich just like that so they looked down on her
IRL the Jonas Brothers HATED how they're portrayed in Disney movies/shows, especially Kevin, they would constantly sneak in shitty performances, dance stupid, try to basically sabatoge their on camera presence so Disney would use them less when they were under contract, Disney was also super abusive to their female leads, strict weight control, they'd be pushed to do movies they didn't want to, all for movies and shows that we only remember because we were young and impressionable so now it translates to nostalgia

The applause would sound very salty
Not to mention that Margaret winning gave that feel that sure Mitchie is talented and the main character but she's not the ONLY talented person here.
Perfectly worded!!!
I agree
it would've been too predictable to make mitchie win too
also hairspray! one of my fave movies, does the same thing

Woah that’s interesting!

Drummer in my high school band didn’t do this at all. He just liked to break in to drum solos while others tried to tune -__-
