One thing about this movie that has stuck with me my whole life, is when the popular girl pours yogurt all over Rosie or something and Carter says 'they're making a fool out of you' and Rosie stands up, shoulders back and says 'I'm no fool. and she cannot make something out of me that I am not' and walks away with dignity. Iconic moment time to be sure.

I’m guessing that the answer to why there are so many princesses in the princess protection program is that they don’t just help princesses, but all noble women ( duchesses , ladies, countesses,queens, empresses ,viscountesses, baronesses,marchionesses).
As someone who grew up in Louisiana, I can assure you that every 12 year old girl here loved this movie. We found it weird that it was so obviously not filmed here, but the lack of accent and such didn’t bother us. It was just nice to see Louisiana people on tv living normally and not as toothless hicks.

i know it’s a disney channel movie with a budget of like $10 and it’s not that serious, but it’s so funny that the “transformation” demi’s character undergoes as she enters basically the most extreme form of witness protection is like…they curl her hair a little bit 😭
even in universe the "transformation" was useless because her classmate instantly recognized her when she saw demi's picture in the magazine at school. so what was the point of including the transformation scene?😭
Plot twist: The queen and the princess were in a bitter power struggle, and the coup was either paid off by the queen (hence the reluctance of the guard to draw his sword) or his attempt to take advantage of the already precarious struggle so he could take power and instill some stability in the leadership. These Disney plot lines are DEEP.
I think it would have been fun if, when the general showed up to the high school homecoming dance, he ended up being crowned homecoming king/queen, helping him realize that it is more fulfilling to be loved than to be feared

As someone from rural Louisiana, homecoming actually is a big deal to teenage girls. And foreign undercover princesses can expect to be exposed if it secures the homecoming queen position of another candidate. Those are just the rules here
This movie was actually filmed in Puerto Rico! The practice coronation scene was done in a historic building called Casa España and the school scenes are in a school called Colegió San Ignacio. It was a really big deal back in the day that these Disney Channel stars where here and Disney was doing a huge casting call for extras. I and a couple of my friends auditioned and some of my friends are actually in the movie. What a time to be a teen 😅!

I was looking for comment mentioning that was made in Puerto Rico. I’m from Puerto Rico and I remember being excited when I read Disney Channel decided to film a couple movies in the island giving the chance to a lot of local people to work.
ONE PET PEEVE about this movie that I have is that- as you mentioned -the movie is set in Louisiana, and then Rosie's classmates act BLOWN AWAY that she can speak French and Spanish. Like...? It's Louisiana.
That's so funny, I never noticed that watching this movie when I was younger bc I'm from Massachusetts lol. At my school we had a ton of children of Indian and Chinese immigrants, so a ton of kids could speak second languages, they were just mostly mandarin, cantonese, and hindi. Now I'm imagining a similar scene playing out at my school hahaha

I always thought it was fucked up they sent a south Asian princess (who’s probably never experienced below zero temperatures) to an Arctic wasteland, while Rosie is just sent to an American high school because she demanded it.

Are they separated because this secret agency only work with girls is there another secret agency for male heirs? Why is there no one to protect the Queen mother? The Princess Protection Program is a half-assed version of the Witness Protection Program even though it's an international organization protecting royalty instead of a federal organization protecting average people and criminals. They just gave her a nickname and moved her out of the country even though her name and face is in international news, even some random mean girl at her school figured it out.

I remember my school was holding a movie day and was taking suggestions, and me having been a 7 year old at the time obsessed with crappy Disney movies, tried to suggest this movie. I didn't remember the title except that it had "princess" in it, so I had them go through every princess movie until I recognized the cover. I convinced the boys to watch it by telling them it had a helicopter and sword fight scene. Seeing this video reawakened that memory, and I don't know how to feel about that
aside from the video being well made and entertaining, i just wanna point out how well coordinated the color palette is: danny's sweater matches with the couch and GREG letters and his pants match with the pillows. as an aspiring designer i give it a 10/10
as a louisianan i will say this is a fairly accurate representation of life in southern louisiana. the accents aren't noticeable, because they aren't there, though most born louisianans DO have at least a slight tang, it's not unreasonable for millenials/gen z who live in relatively big cities to have almost unnoticeable accents. so yeah! movie still got a lot of flaws tho. feels great to be represented, albeit weirdly

So, I know this probably sounds very captious, but since Danny encourages us to think critical, I think it is alright: In the Video Danny always talks about the girl that was sent to Antarctica. However, the leader of the PPP said they sent her a lot "further north" than she is used to. Since Antarctica is the south pole, Danny hit the only place in the world where this princess is 100% not located.

I mean that is traditionally how people conquer. They take out the government and seize control of the capital with their military, and from there run the country. Local forces traditionally either stop fighting or engage in rebellion. Same goes for the citizens. It really isn't a complicated affair and killing, imprisoning, or running off a monarchy is a very effective means of destabilising a country. Even if you lose, the monarchy is basically over.

In the movie Carter said that she was surprised she even knew how to cook, and thought she had people who did that for her. Rosie tells her (something along these line since it’s been a minute since I saw this movie) that her mom taught her how to cook. I’m not really sure but I think her mom was a commoner before she married her father, and taught her how to cook. Again it’s been awhile since I seen this movie so I could be wrong.

This movie was actually filmed in Puerto Rico! The practice coronation scene was done in a historic building called Casa España and the school scenes are in a school called Colegió San Ignacio. It was a really big deal back in the day that these Disney Channel stars where here and Disney was doing a huge casting call for extras. I and a couple of my friends auditioned and some of my friends are actually in the movie. What a time to be a teen 😅!

I mean that is traditionally how people conquer. They take out the government and seize control of the capital with their military, and from there run the country. Local forces traditionally either stop fighting or engage in rebellion. Same goes for the citizens. It really isn't a complicated affair and killing, imprisoning, or running off a monarchy is a very effective means of destabilising a country. Even if you lose, the monarchy is basically over.

In the movie Carter said that she was surprised she even knew how to cook, and thought she had people who did that for her. Rosie tells her (something along these line since it’s been a minute since I saw this movie) that her mom taught her how to cook. I’m not really sure but I think her mom was a commoner before she married her father, and taught her how to cook. Again it’s been awhile since I seen this movie so I could be wrong.

Danny, weirdly enough, the “I may have to stop calling you pal” line is pretty accurate to how some fathers talk to their daughters when they grow up 😂 I’ve always found it weird, especially being on the receiving end of it. It’s definitely not in a relationshippy way tho, it’s more like “My daughter is growing up into a young woman instead of a little girl and it’s weird for me.”
I particularly hate the implications that "hey dad look at my cool special occasion dress! Ain't it neat and only fitting for this particular day?
