    I already had the AF3 and have been really enjoying it, so I thought I was set with it for a while but I got very curious after seeing all the reviews about the Metaspeed Edge/Sky Paris and decided to give the Edge Paris a try. ASICS shoes have always tended fit a little narrow in the forefoot/toe-box for me, but the Edge Paris fit my feet perfectly, which was a pleasant surprise. The feel and ride provided by the FF Turbo+ was awesome and that left a nagging curiosity in me about the Sky Paris. I never really thought about this cadence vs stride thing but I did notice that the Edge Paris seemed to facilitate a fast rollover and higher cadence. So, although I certainly don't need yet another racing shoe, I got the Sky Paris and took it out on 16-mile run with a 10-mile segment at around 7:15/mi (4:30/km) pace in between easy warmup and cooldown runs at around 9:00/mi (5:37/km) pace and I was absolutely blown away.
    I haven't tried every racing supershoe out there, but I have to agree that the Metaspeed Sky Paris is the best I've tried amongst the ones I have tried: AF3, Vaporfly 3/2, Adios Pro 3, Endorphin Pro 3, and SC Elite 4/3. I also have the Takumi Sen 10, 9, and 8 which I mainly use for speed workouts. Some of my fastest runs have been on the Prime X Strung (both 1 and 2) and the Cielo X1, but both the Edge and Sky Paris take things up to another level with their super light weight and springy forward propulsion from the FF Turbo+, which seems to have the perfect balance between firm propulsive character and responsiveness and softer comfort and protectiveness. It's on the firm side compared to the ZoomX and Lightstrike Pro but in a very pleasant way. I don't know how else to describe it. It's a very enjoyable firmness - especially for a light guy like me (5'7''-167cm, 125lbs-57kg) who generally prefers the midsoles to be on the softer side.
    As of now, it really does seem the Sky Paris is the best all-round supershoe and the weight does have a lot to do with it. I really noticed the difference at the tail end of my 16-mile runs with both the Edge and Sky Paris. I did not feel fatigue at all and felt like I could easily go another 5~10 miles just based on how light the shoes felt. I guess the narrow heel which could cause instability for some may be an issue, but I found the stability to be fine on both although the extra forefoot width on the Sky Paris helped even more. All in all, an amazing racing shoe. I still need to do some A/B with the Edge Paris and Sky Paris to fully understand the differences but I think I now kinda get what this cadence vs. stride thing is about although it's subtle. The Edge Paris seems to make me lunge forward more for a fast rollover while the Sky Paris lifts my feel further off the ground to increase the stride length. Love 'em both but, if I had to choose only one, it'd be the Sky Paris!

      Great info there, how do you find the toe box width when compared to the Alpha V3 or Alpha V1? Thanks for the help!

    • @alexkhan2000
      @alexkhan2000 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@topofthemountainfitness7245 I haven't tried the Alpha V1 so I can't speak for that shoe. I'd say the toe box width on the Sky Paris is about the same as Alpha V3 but with a little more volume. They are both TTS and fit snugly but comfortably so without any hot spots. I have a slightly wide forefoot with standard/narrow mid-foot and heel and that's why all the Adizero shoes have fit my feet very well even when their uppers can get finicky. I was worried that TTS for the Edge Paris would be too narrow for me when I ordered it and that I may have to return it and go half-size up, but that wasn't the case at all. It's actually on the slightly roomy side in the forefoot/toe-box. So, I also ordered the Sky Paris at TTS and it's perfect with a little room left over for swelling feet at near the end of a full marathon.

      Good piece of detail 👌
      I'm undecided though (and I guess this state may last until next Olympics 😂)
      For me, the medium speed heal striker which shoe will have the EDGE (name)?
      Is my race cadence 175 pushing me towards the EDGE (of the cliff;)?

    • @alexkhan2000

      @@yalokim5264 Honestly, I think either the Edge Paris or Sky Paris would work fine for most of us "middle-of-the-pack" runners. The differences between the two are subtle although noticeable if one really analyzes things.
      Based on your descriptions, it does seem the Edge Paris does have the EDGE. 😉The Sky Paris seems better suited for forefoot strikes.

    Any shoe that is used to get you a PB is going to be a winner. Excellent video Edd. Really good points regarding how Asics achieved such good weight saving yet still created an excellent performance oriented shoe. For me, if there is going to be a trade off between performance and stability, I'd choose performance for a race shoe. In Australia, the Asics is on the 'cheaper' side AUD$330 (same price as the Vaporfly 3 although some colorways are now $340) vs other brands so we are a bit luckier with regard to pricing here. It would seem the Nike Vaporfly 2 and Asics Metaspeed Edge Paris might be a good match fight.

    Edd - was just able to go on a treadmill for quite some time and try out both - though I initially got the edge, but you've made me a convert and I exchanged for the sky - running 8+ miles today on my pro 3's made me realize sometimes I do cadence but also transition to stride length and also noticed when I picked up my speed, my foot strike was mid to forefoot and not really a heal striker at higher speeds hence sky here I come for the upcoming Brooklyn Half and upcoming marathons. But of course “people” is a pretty broad category! I infer this to mean people who want or need to race in the models most pros are using. I had a chance to test the AF3 for a month or so, then had a chance to test the Sky P briefly and was very impressed (liked it much more than the AF3). But I’m going to Boston with the Endo Pro4 because I’d need more time with the SkyP or EdgeP to be sure the comfort half of the equation for a marathon is sufficient to justify the speed factor. I also would want to try both the Sky and Edge to be sure I got the one biomechanically best for me. But having tried so many super shoes now, the Endo Pro3 and now even more so v4 are far better than the AF3 or any Nikes I’ve tested thoroughly, for one solid example. @AleCardenasRealtor I say don’t be influenced by the fact Edd can’t review every great shoe within a given video theme. The EP3 was good enough for me to get 8th in my AG in Boston with an 18:00 PR over the previous year (when I wore the Speed 2’s).

The original Metaspeed Sky that I have is the lightest shoe of my many shoes that I have. Only 6.8 ounces for a U.S. men's size 10 1/2. I'm just asking to know if the Paris Sky is worth getting. Thank you Edd.

      This is even lighter than that one somehow.

    • @adr673
      @adr673 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have both (same size as you) The Metaspeed Sky v1 was 204gr and my new Sky Paris was 193gr but the difference was the stack height. Where the Sky1 was 33mm heel and 28mm forefoot the Paris is 39.5 heel and 34.5 forefoot. Same 5mm drop but the plate placement is different too. I ran a tempo long run yesterday in the new Sky Paris on heavy legs and was fantastic.
      I've never tried an AF and I wonder wich model has more propulsive effect. But for the price and weight I more than happy with my Sky Paris. I hope they work well on my April's marathon.

      @EDDBUD I'm back, lol. So I have now tested the Edge and the Sky Paris. My thoughts after 1 run in each, is I love them both and need further test to decide on which distances I will use them for. So the Edge I found hard to slow down when warming up. So they are definitely built for speed. Managed to run quicker than 2 weeks ago. Felt great under foot and lockdown spot on. Also, I feel the durability is a step up, as I midfoot and heel strike and no damage or deep marks in shoe.
      Sky I raced a half marathon on a very windy day. The second half of the race was tough as I'm not race fit. So found when my form was slipping, the shoe still felt great under foot. And this will be a big step up for me when running a marathon, as I always hit the wall at 20/22 mile, and it feels like a slog and my feet start to hurt etc. Where I think the extra cushioning will help me to finish stronger than normal. I do feel the sky is more for half marathon and marathon. But I will test out over the shorter distances. And try the Edge over the longer distances. And let you know my thoughts after a few races in them both

      Me too 👍 I didn't like the Sky+ much and preferred the original Sky. Got two pairs of Endorphin Elite - one with 110 miles on which I will again be wearing in Paris next weekend + a box fresh pair I got for £172 earlier this year. Hope that I can get to try the Sky and Edge Paris at the Paris Marathon Expo next weekend though. I know that asics are doing a big promotion of both shoes and the differences between them there - even machine analysis of which shoe they believe is better for each runner. My Half PB is still in the original Sky which I thought was great atvthe time. Any new shoe has a lot to do in order for me to prefer it to the Endorphin Elite over Marathon distance.

    The Edge Paris runs like the Vaporfly 2 but with lower heel drop, very light and thicker midsole (firmer than ZoomX but gets softer once you get to a fast pace). Its like an upgraded VF2. Also the toe box is a bit roomy, i usually buy 8.0US for Asics but got the 8.5US for the Edge Paris. There’s too much space on the toe box and im having a bit of problem locking down. I’ll see if i can get used to it or just buy another pair.

      Having recently gotten to test the AF3 and Metaspeed Sky Paris, I actually preferred FFturbo+ over ZoomX, though it may have had to do with other elements of the shoes (which are very different) since that’s hard to separate. It’s certainly not LESS comfortable, nor is it less responsive.

    Has anyone compare new Metaspeed Sky Paris with MagicSpeed 2?

    Not sure which way to go guys..ive a new pair of endorphin elites i picked up on offer £175 and a pair of Sky Paris at rrp. One on each foot both true to size both very comfy. I like the way the elite rolls forward you dont get this with the Paris which suits me as iam a forefoot runner. Iam approx 72kg and they are for a Marathon this Autumn aiming for sub 3.15. Trotting around the house i prefer the role of the elites but cant try at marathon pace ha. Ive come from 2 pairs of endorphine pro 3s both the elite and sky feel a superior shoe...one pair has to go back not sure which🤔🤔

      Agree seems the way to go for up to half marathon thoughts on support for full marathon 🤔
