Thanks, Nathan. You analyzed the differences between the two models more effectively than I have heard anywhere else. Like you, I get along better with shoes like the Metaspeed Edge and Endorphin Pro. It’s helpful to know that it has a lot to do with how the forefoot rocker is shaped
The update from the original to the plus was definitely not just the upper. I loved version 1 . The plus was way too firm. I really want to try the Paris though!
Thanks for the in depth look Nathan, I had the same problem with the Sky+, wanted to like it but it torched my calves and achilles so I never could. Excited for the updates and it's like you read my mind with the Saucony comparison. I respond fairly well with the Elite and like it's feeling so it looks like I'm going with the sky. Very helpful
This really helped me make my decision! I have used the endorphin pro 3 a lot and it worked really well for me in my half marathon so I think I’m gonna go with the edge
See you at the Bock Run Saturday! Can’t wait to get my hands on the new Metaspeed Paris shoes……..the Sky+ has been working great for my marathons so far. I’ll be rocking my Takumi Sen 8’s for Saturday’s 5 mile race though.
Perfect vlog, THANK YOU!! Now I (think that I) have understood the science an difference behind those two models and I will try the Edge Paris for my type of running. Best C
Interesting because I'm a cadence runner, but I land in the mid or forefoot most of the unless I'm starting to fatigue towards the end of a half or marathon and then I land a little flatter and that includes, so the heel cushion in the Edge Paris would come into play a bit. I love my Edge Paris. To me, they feel a bit like the Endorphin Speed 1 and the Vaporfly 1 had a baby
Great analysis! Thank you. I've got the Sky v1 and the Edge plus and although I've run several races on both I still cannot figure out wich is better for my mechanics (forefoot/midfoot striker). The only thing always happens is trauma on my big toes after a marathon, I wonder is because of the stiffness of the plate plus the sharp rocker... I have better results with the Endorphin Pro 3 without thar issue.
Great initial review. By looking at the specs , being a forefoot to midfoot striker I'd rather go with the Sky Paris right? I've ran into the previous iteration (Sky+) and was pretty good for me except it was a quasi-zero drop shoe so calves were working a bit too hard. I'm asking since some people claim Elites tend to prefer the Edge Paris (given the plate is more aggressive) which is confusing sine many of them may be stride runners. I'd say from the specs Edge Paris seems to be definitely designed for heel strikers (especially due to the early rocker) , do we agree on this?
Great review! Interested to know which of these two shoes matches more closely with the Vaporfly (and perhaps specifically the VF3). Find the plate/rocker position on the VF3 really doesn’t work for me but not sure which it is…
Which one would you recommend for someone who’s solely a forefoot striker. Even though I’m a cadence runner I got the sky + because I needed extra foam in the forefoot. Now with both being the same aside from the plate position, I’m unsure which one to choose. Will be using for Half marathons only.
As a heel striker, the Edge sounds like it would work best for me at the half to full marathon distance. I've also been eyeing the Hoka Cielo X1 and Saucony Endorphin Pro 3, so it was interesting to see them mentioned in this video. I'd be interested in hearing what the other Doctors have to say, particularly the heel strikers. And I'd also like to hear how it compares to the other recent supershoe releases.
@@DoctorsofRunning Did you feel that way about the Edge+ and Sky+ too? (I'm considering picking one or the other up if they're discounted now a new version is out...)
I jogged in both for 5 mins each and based on my brief experience Edge Paris is the real deal. The plate placement and the rocker works much better than Sky Paris with its flat plate and late stage rocker design. I think only people that are running on toes like a ballerina will like Sky Paris. Like you I like more early stage rockers but then again I like Prime X Strung OG with its late rocker as well. So, it is a really a play of plate/rods with the rocker design, not just one or the other. I think Edge Paris is better executed shoe in this case.
Nice in depth review Nathan. Your description of the underfoot feel in the rocker/toe spring has me thinking that the Edge Paris would be the shoe to fit my running style. I have the Endo Pro 3 and the Magic Speed 3, which both have worked well for me. How does the Edge Paris feel compared to the Magic Speed 3, sizing as well?
As a primarily 5k-10k runner who’s only 5’8 and training around sub 6 paces, should I lean toward the edge as it would be better for maintaining a fast turnover at high speeds? I feel like as a lighter runner I might not put enough force into the sky even tho I’m a midfoot striker anyway.
Watching this as my Sky+ just showed up at my doorstep 😂 I’m a bigger dude (6’4”/250) so hopefully the stiffer foam gives me the bounce I’m after on runs. I wouldn’t mind trying the Paris Edge out once they’re released though.
For me my feet definitely prefer the plate that's more behind the metatarsal bones..with high arches, coming down on the fat pad of my foot is not good..when the plate is back more I land on the down slope of the plate and roll forward..it more natural foot strike and definitely faster with less effort as well as takes some weight off the metatarsal bones..I will be interested to see how they work for you guys..good video
Great video Nathan! I enjoyed both the AF and the VF, but the AF (both OG and v2) were for me faster, effortless and more fun. Based on that, which MS Paris would you recommend? Thanks
I have the OG tokyo sky and i felt a negative drop after the shoe broke in (calf felt like cramping mid run but disappeared when i push passed the feeling) . Also i cracked both plates walking down some steps and though running felt the same , i hear ticking from the right shoe . That said ill be getting the edge this time (early rockers are better for me) and im hoping the plate will be more flexable........and avoid stairs.
Excellent detailed explanations with examples, thank you. Do you also feel like you need to climb out of the Alphafly 3s, similar to the earlier Sky? How does the Paris Sky feel compared to the AF3.
Great video which got me to purchase a pair of the Edge. I received them today but the upper feels tight on the inside arch…worried I might get rubbing/arch blisters like I have done in alphaflys so will then have to try and sell them used and at about half the price 🥲 Did you experience any issues with this at all? Thankyou!!!
Shoe weight is clearly the next point of focus for the front runner companies. Once everyone else catches up....then the new foams will come again. Stride/cadence is or can be a very fluid thing. I know in my last half marathon (200spm) and marathon (197spm) my focus was on just getting faster with more volume. Once I felt my fitness was good enough and my cadence was holding me back, I changed that to being my focus. Now I'm around 186-188spm at marathon pace, which feels much more natural to me, less fighting with the midfoot/forefoot. I think if I was to switch to a shoe specifically for cadence, it might ultimately hold back my running progression and just let me continue with a clearly inferior cadence.
Does the Sky still have the lateral flare. Wasn't that a key feature of the last model, to discourage excess supination for upper mid-forefoot strikers? I'm curious about both of these shoes, but am just uncertain about what I should try and have heard contradictory reports.
@@gearjunkie3412 I'm that broke I did retire at 56 years. 🤣 I'm just not as stupid as most people following every marketing garbage. Did you know that these shoes are produced for about 20 to 25 $? Mostly in Indonesia or Vietnam.
Just gonna buy both and return the one that doesn't feel right. Currently using the endorphin pro 3 and I enjoy it but I'm new to super shoes and I've been working on increasing my cadence so the sky paris could be good too.
@markoljustina for context. I ran my first half marathon last year in the EP3 last year in 1:29. Shoes felt so comfy. After doing a tempo in the edge and the sky I can say the sky just feels so fast. Had to constantly slow myself down using it. I will say if you aren't strong enough the sky might be your un doing at longer distances but man does it have pop.

I’m a rear foot striker! My personal take is that it matter less about what part of your foot contacts the ground and more about where the foot lands in relation to the body, how long the foot is on the ground, how long the foot is in “front side stance”, etc
I love an earlier rocker. The Edge+ was fast for me. Running 1000's of miles in the The Glideride 3, The Noosa tri 13 and 14 all flowed for me. In store the Cielo X1 was faster than the Rocket X2. I've got a graphic of outsole shape comparison between running shoes and there is a positive correlation between earlier rockers and my running speed.
That’s very interesting. The Endorphin Pro 3 gave me numb and painful toes. The Rocket X2 seems to suit me really well. I had assumed that I preferred early rockers based on my enjoyment of the Mach 5, but perhaps not! How is your foot injury coming along, Nathan?

True true -- foam compound technically stayed the same between the two but they had a different feel
I think they changed the plate placement in the Sky+ to be closer to the foot, as well, vs the original Sky.
@@squaaron9601 exactly, it’s almost like they secretly turned the edge Paris into the sky v1 with just a change to the foam compound.

TTS? Or .5 up
TTS in my opinion
I am US10 normally but US10.5 that I tried fit well with enough space before my toes. If you are looking to run marathon I would consider 0.5 up.
I cannot buy either shoes do you know if they will be available again
How i sizing? are they still small?
They used a new last, so it's a bit more roomy than previous.
Ok now I am interested to see what they can do with the Superblast 2.
