As I strolled by my local running shoe store, I noticed that they had both the EdgeP and the SkyP on display. I tried on one pair and ran around the block. I tried on the other pair and ran around the block. Then I put one shoe on the left foot and the other shoe on the right foot and ran around the block. Then I switched shoes on the other feet and ran around the block. The clear winner for me was the SkyP. I don't buy into that marketing jargon: cadence runner vs stride runner. As a mid-to-forefoot striker, the SkyP just felt more responsive. Thanks, Edd.
Another way some have differentiated between these models (Kofuzi, eg) is that midfoot -toward-rear strikers might prefer the Edge and vice versa, as your preference indicates.
Disagree. I'm a forefront striker and the plate position here gives more cushion in the front. The Paris plate is higher so firmer but more bounce feel. Not sure where people are getting the edge is firmer , but I guess we're all different I prefer the edge .
Both are obviously great shoes and you did a nice job of identifying the somewhat subtle differences. My racing days are over, so at that price I would be looking for a more durable outsole. Not the shoe for me, but glad to see what ASICS is up to. Ran in Dynablast 3 this morning. Great value in a daily trainer.
@@tadejdanev5030 Not because I’m too old, I’m not. But because when I did race, injuries kept mounting up. So now I maintain a moderate pace and run for health, not time. It’s working!
I've never run in any of the vaporfly/alphafly models, but wanted something a bit more aggressive than the endorpin pro 3, so I got the edge paris. I was absolutely wowed by the volatile bounce of the shoe, it felt like they were made for my short, low to the ground stride. I was warned that ffturbo+ is quite firm, but that wasn't my experience at all. Very comfortable shoe, but I'm not a long distance runner.
Nice detailed comment. Anything else you like that you didnt mention. I have short legs too, so im more cadence as well. I love asics so much, but im torn between the new balance sc elite and the metaspeed edge. Please provide any info u can. Thank you
@@Mar2Legit Well, the Edge Paris is seriously fast, but it's also pretty unstable. It's a narrow shoe, that's very nimble, but it doesn't like uneven surfaces. It's a shoe you want if you're going after PBs. I haven't run in the newest SC Elite, but I have in the RC Elite v2 and SC Elite v3, so the New Balance is probably the one you want if you prioritize comfort and stability over longer distances. And I've noticed that experiences wildly vary, when it comes to the Edge Paris. A lot of people seem to prefer the Sky, and some even say that the Edge doesn't have any bounce... I am predominantly a forefoot striker, so that's maybe where the difference lies, but the shoe feels insane to me. Somewhere in the middle of these shoes lies the Adios Pro 3 (which I love very much), which is also worth considering. It will have more pep than the SC Elite v4, while being more stable than the Edge Paris.

I have both the Sky and Edge Paris, and I agree very much with your description of the differences between them. Personally I think I prefer the Edge Paris. The Sky Paris is harder on my calves, but perhaps faster. I think the Sky Paris is better at 5km, and the Edge at the longer runs.
I just got mine in yesterday, and it was coincidentally a threshold day, so on they went.. I did read a lot about them and saw a few reviews, and they were definitely less "snappy" than I had expected, but very comfortable and fast (and light). I had ordered the Sky Paris as well, but had to return them due to size issues, so I can't do a 1-to-1 comparison, but that's what we have you for ;) (they only had the Edge Paris in my size left, so that's why I went for them). I am training for a marathon at the moment, so listening to you, they may be the better option anyway and I can definitely see myself running long distances with them. I might still shop around other stores to see if any of them have the Sky Paris in my size in stock so I can make a definite comparision, but so far I am definitely happy.
I loved running the Edge Paris in a marathon- felt better the last few miles in them over previous marathons in the VF3. Never tried the SKY but I could agree with you longer efforts may be better than shorter races in them.
A note on the laces: maybe it’s my feet, but I find the supplied laces in the MSPs/MEPs way too short - to the point it’s almost impossible to double knot them when using the runner’s loop. I ended up using the brilliant Mizuno Zeroglide laces, which come in multiple lengths, and a great neon colour which match the fluro detail on the sole. They also have this ‘sticky’ silicon coating which means they stay exactly where you need them…
I did a brief test jog in both Sky Paris and Edge Paris and I felt more forward directed energy return in Edge Paris. I think if I buy one, it will probably be Edge Paris. I am a heavier runner with a tendency of landing midfoot to rear of the shoe.
I finally had a chance to try both at the Asics Boston pop up last April. As a very petite runner (lightweight and not long legged) with an innate high cadence, I did feel the Edge was more natural for me, which bears out your observations--especially at marathon pace, which is the main use case for me. I love the Takumi Sen for shorter, faster racing. So far I have plenty of miles left on my Endo Pro 3 but would consider the Edge Paris for a future marathon candidate. Another way to differentiate between these models (per Kofuzi) is that rear midfoot strikers might prefer the Edge whereas fore to midfoot striker may do better with the Sky. As a solid midfoot but slightly to rear striker with a very high cadence, it’s not surprising I found the Edge more natural.
It was an observation as I tried different paces and became quite pronounced as I tried the edge. Interesting they decided to use the same naming. Maybe a good idea to differentiate it more next time at least with colourway!
I bought the Sky Paris and was so impressed I bought the Edge as well. I have been surprised to find that it is the Edge that gives me the faster pace so far, even though according to Garmin I am most definitely a runner who increases his stride length more than cadence when I pick up the pace. I find that there is a distinct difference between the two, with the Edge the ride feels flatter and high stacked from heel to toe when warming up; but then with the miraculously light build it proves to be springy and light and this is my favourite race day shoe of the year. Puma Elite 3 being no.2 and Sky Paris no.3😀
Just bought a pair of these with the intention of using them for short course triathlon next year. I'm yet to use them as I'm training for Ironman Wales, but I'm really excited to give them a blast. Great review as always mate 😁
I have both and, once again Ed, I wholly agree with your assessment of these shoes and their subtle but noticeable differences. The Sky Paris is bouncier and lifts me up more to extend my strides while the Edge Paris keeps my feet lower to the ground for rolling over more smoothly. Do you notice the difference in the positioning of the rocker under the forefoot? Another subtle difference but does make the Edge better suited for higher cadence. That being said, the differences are minor and there are way more similarities between the two. If I had to choose only one, it'd be the Sky Paris but I can easily see why some would prefer the Edge Paris.
Been watching since the adios 4 days. I always ran in adidas until your meraspeed Sky paris review and tried a pair. Amazing shoe everything you want the adios pro to be. New PB in marathon by 4 minutes.❤
Good afternoon. Fantastic description. I'm not a elite runner. I prefer the Asics superblast 2 or the Noosa tri 15. Like to EDDBUD. !!!!!!Happy Holidays!!!
I wish I could use the upper and glue it to the VF sole.... I found them fast for shorter runs but I didn't enjoy them on my longer runs up to16 miles... They might soften up..Def NOT worth the money though .. Great review as usual !!
Great review, as always :) I have both, and prefer the Edge. I bought the Sky first and was a little underwhelmed so bit the bullet when I saw the edge at a slightly discounted price :) I'm mid to forefoot striker and pretty light (61kg). Both my stride and cadence increase as I speed up but I *think* it's the rocker that makes it a faster shoe for me. I did a very unscientific test at the track; doing a 2 mile interval in each, with the Nike Alphafly along too. Sky Paris was slowest, followed by Alphafly (2 secs per mile quicker) with the Edge Paris (8 secs per mile quicker). Obviously enough small sample size and it was quite a blustery day. Incidentally, I have always ran much better in the Alphafly (1&3) compared to Vaporfly (2)
I was lucky enought to find a pair of barely-worn EdgeP on Ebay being sold locally for £120 by a guy who'd bought both before deciding he was going to stick with the Sky. As an average height but short-legged runner I run at a high cadence so determined that these would suit me well and my word, they're incredible to race in, just so happy at race-paces. But they are very much a race-day only option and even then only for target races. I set my new 5k PB of 18:34 in them at the start of July and their next outing will be a Half in a week or so when I shoot for another PB and a big target!
So glad I chose the Sky Paris as wanted to move away from the Vaporfly feeling (even though high cadence runner). Ran a 5k PB in the Sky Paris last week.
Enjoy the sky as I really am not a heel striker and roll through vs the sky as you mentioned just trampolined/bounce along as I land on my mid foot and then spring off my forefoot. Still have done my PB's in the half with the sky and would buy a second pair, and the edge did not really do anything for me when I tested it-Maybe at a marathon distance if I tire and start striking my heel then yes the edge would work better though I don't think I w pi hold like it on the first parts of a marathon. I feel the edge "forces" you to run a certain way and the sky just lets you do your thing. Maybe strange I'm saying this because I enjoy the adios pro 3's and their carbon rods scoop down more but not like the edge or VP3 .
Thanks for the review, as I have learned more about these shoes. I already bought my pair back in March. As I am saving mine for the Chickamauga Marathon in November. Will probably run in my Edge shoes in the half marathon in October to break them in. Very positive review of the shoes.🙂👍👍👟👏
Great review as always Ed. For what it's worth I have just had delivered today one pair of each so I could choose which I think would be better for me. The Edge fit me a bit better the Paris has a wider toe box and feels definitely softer but both fit true to size for me in UK 8.5 and are very comfortable. I think I will however be keeping the Sky they feel similar to the Alphafly 3 but less bulky which is a bit different. I would liken the Edge to the Adidas Adios Pro 3, Vaporfly 3 and Saucony Pro 3 with a firmer ride with the aggressive toe rocker. I have a few of those types already so the Sky is something a bit different but both are great shoes even in the Cocktail Lemon colorway..
Commented a few weeks ago about the adidas adistar 3. You mentioned the first and second being dissapointing because of the firm midsole. Just tried the 3's and they are completely different, it's honestly now like a different midsole foam similar to the nike invincible run. Incredibly squishy and soft. Definately pick them up (the non byd ones), you might like this pair
I really like these and the Sky's, esthetically but, I am not a Racer. I had a pair of the New Balnce SC Trainers from.last year, and just blew through the bottoms in no time. I am currently running in the Mach 6's which I really enjoy, and off and on go out in my New Balance v13's. I mostly wear the v13's for casual use though because I find them to soft to run in for very long in. I just can't seem to keep a good pace in them. I think the foam makes me lazy. Appreciate the review. I was looking forward to the foot tan I would get in these but, I would just destroy these bottoms and at $250 I just can't do it.
I bought the edge paris as a mid foot striker. Between the edge and the alphafly 3 I much prefer the alphafly and ran a 2:47 marathon in them. If I'm honest I prefer the vaporfly 3 to the edge paris (they both have the same plate configuration) and I prefer the Alphafly 3 the most. since the Alphafly 3 has a more neutral plate configuration perhaps I would like the sky paris more.. I personally found the zoomx in the alphafly 3 to just feel much more enjoyable on the run. happy I didnt pass on the af3 since I felt that the AF2 was maybe the most awful shoe I've ever run in, that shoe just gave me blisters everywhere on my feet.
Loving the Sky Paris, but I find as my form breaks down when I’m tired, the shoes don’t really help me out. Fantastic when running well though, haven’t had anything better.
Great analitic video Edd. Can you afirm that Edge Paris is close to Sky v1 on ride? The specs are very similar and the plate position is the same more or less. I love Sky v1😊
Couldn’t help noticing there were a lot of these and the sister model on show during the Olympic Tri, be good to have a Olympic special Ed, who wore what
Purchased. Meanwhile, Jack White seems to get a lot of unnecessary shade. Why? This is the man who did Ball and Biscuit after all, one of the best songs made by anyone, ever
Love your reviews. I am looking for a race shoe (5 km to 1/2 M), run around 4.50 min km to 5.30. Heel to mid food strike, pronate a little. Choosing between Asics edge paris, Puma Elite 3, Nike Alphafly 3. Which would be the most stable, okay for heel striking and good at those paces. Thanks
@@EDDBUD Thanks for the recommendation. Tried all 3 in store, got the Puma seemed more forgiving underfoot and Asics Edge Paris was to narrow at the heel - pronated a lot when tested on the treadmill.
Race shoes should be used for races only, plus a bit test runs. When they have done a few ones or you feel like you need a new race shoe then you can also use it for training. This way you get more races out of your race shoe. You don't want to spend absurd numbers of earth credits and only get two races out of them.
@@EDDBUD My idea is to use race shoes for races and work out shoes for work out runs. If you have done for example 300 km of races then you can start also using it for training runs. Now it's time to buy some new race shoes. This will give you more races out of your shoes.
Thanks, Edd. Which of the two shoes would you say is closest to the Puma Deviate Nitro 3? And, second, do they fit similarly? Weirdly, the Deviate Nitro 3 (UK 11) is too tight for me, but the Deviate Nitro 3 (UK 11) fits me fine.
Im lucky to have both.....The Egde Paris is definitely the better shoe in my opinion, both outstanding shoes though. Can I also ask where did you get your shoe rack? Thank you!!
Which of the two would you recommend for 5k pb chasing for a lighter build runner? My 10k pb is in the og Tokyo Metaspeed Sky and my 5k is in the Nike VP3. Thanks for all the great content.
I wanted to buy these shoes, but I came across a promotion on NB and bought the Elite 4. I know it's not the same, but for my level of running, I think it won't make much of a difference...
Loved the edge and sky + as pb attempt shoes at up to half marathon distance, but found them too harsh underfoot for anything longer. Does the softer foam in the Paris translate to less underfoot soreness?
Great review and explanation👍uve mentioned the similarities to the sky, alphafly, vapourfly and the nitro elite but how does the endorphin elite fit into the decision making pot especially if you have a pair of unworn sale priced sat looking at you😂😂
Nah thank you. To me, I'll stick with the Puma deviate nitro elite 3 , or the Saucony endorphin pro 4 . Unfortunately, both are still not available here and i want to try them first before buying them online
Ive only neen running for about 2 months and really love the NIke Vaporfly3 but after around 30 miles ive noticed a tiny bit of wear on the toe part of the shoe, have been looking at these as cheaper then the Nike Alpha3, would you say these Metaspeed paris are more durable then the Vaporfly3 and Alpha3?
I had the v1 Tokyo unbelievable fast shoe but omg midsole was mashed within a few runs...I personally struggle to purchase high end race day shoes only...just no value what So ever.....or am I just a tight ass...😂

The sky is closer to the alphafly with the flatter plate
YESSS FINALLYYYYYY THANK YOUUU
No worries! 👍🏼👊
Loving the Sky Paris, but I find as my form breaks down when I’m tired, the shoes don’t really help me out. Fantastic when running well though, haven’t had anything better.
Good luck with the algorithm !
Dankeschön 🙏🏼 Interesting comparison 👍
Great analitic video Edd. Can you afirm that Edge Paris is close to Sky v1 on ride? The specs are very similar and the plate position is the same more or less. I love Sky v1😊
Close, it’s a bit softer though still with that aggressive forefoot feel of the plate
@@EDDBUD ohhhh thanks Edd 😀😀😀
Been running superblast. Finally got these.. not a fan. Extremely comfortable but a very narrow mid sole 😢
It’s certainly a race shoe for sure
You could have surely squeezed a Pavement reference in to the Steven Malkmus analogy.
A missed opportunity!
Couldn’t help noticing there were a lot of these and the sister model on show during the Olympic Tri, be good to have a Olympic special Ed, who wore what
Not a bad idea at all!
Nice
Thanks, Edd.
Very welcome
@@EDDBUD 🤩
Did my part to fight the algorithm 👊
Much appreciated
Thanks
The subtly firmer foam in these might work better than the softer and less consistent Puma and AF
@@jacobriis7859 2 races? You will get way more out of these.
@@EDDBUD
My idea is to use race shoes for races and work out shoes for work out runs.
The the elite seems a bit shorter. Not by much
🎉
🥇
Im lucky to have both.....The Egde Paris is definitely the better shoe in my opinion, both outstanding shoes though. Can I also ask where did you get your shoe rack? Thank you!!
Rack from sole cube. 👍🏼
Still unsure between paris and nitro 3. Others cant compete with these
HI 🤩
Good evening! I fall in love with asics magic speed 4. Sky paris or edge you think ,is the "race edition" ? Greetings from Greece!!
Have you seen any new colour ways? Looking to get the Sky Paris but can’t force myself to get the safety yellow!
I have the Paris Edge and like them.
Id like to try the Sky, but I think they may be too firm 🤔
The sky if anything is softer to me
Interesting. Maybe that's because you land on the mid-foot. I'm very much up on my toes
i see kylo ren chillin
Always try to combine them with the shoes!
More aggressive, like a game of dominoes with Knock Knock 🤕
Knock knock knocked him out! 🤣
Asics da best!
What’s The Trick is a great song to run to ✅
Which of the two would you recommend for 5k pb chasing for a lighter build runner? My 10k pb is in the og Tokyo Metaspeed Sky and my 5k is in the Nike VP3. Thanks for all the great content.
The edge is closer to the original sky. Very confusing!
@@EDDBUD Great Point, when you look at the plate postion it's closer to the OG Sky. Great review!
Great review and explanation👍uve mentioned the similarities to the sky, alphafly, vapourfly and the nitro elite but how does the endorphin elite fit into the decision making pot especially if you have a pair of unworn sale priced sat looking at you😂😂
@@TheMf51y I like the elite but they are perhaps a shoe I haven’t been able to unlock fully. Feels more like a high octane 5 or 10k shoe to me
Hi😊
🥈
like those shoes
Superb models. Both the sky and edge
Im tired of lossing money with the alphaflys as there is too much glass on the roadside and I want something simimilar at a good price.
Yeah any large nails or rocks and you have to step with caution
How does the midsole (FF Turbo+) of the Edge Paris compare to the ZOOMX midsole of the Vaporfly 3 in terms of bounciness?
More bounce and exciting fun here
Nah thank you. To me, I'll stick with the Puma deviate nitro elite 3 , or the Saucony endorphin pro 4 . Unfortunately, both are still not available here and i want to try them first before buying them online
Still can’t decide between the two options to try. I have high cadence 195-200. Edge or Sky 😵💫
Maybe the edge for that
For the algorithm 🤖🤖

Hello.
Purchase choice. Used pair of Alphafly 3 vs new pair of Sky Paris, for a heavier 90kg runner, aiming for a 4 hour or faster marathon? Thanks.
Alphafly 3 for a marathon
Who do you prefer to listen, Noel Gallagher or Jack White?
Jack white overall.
@@EDDBUD Yea, me too, JW! random comparison actually... anyways, cool!
Is the Paris a new version or mostly a colour variation? Previous version on sale now.
Very different foam to the last versions
How is the sizing compared to other ASICS shoes like the superblast? Same size? Size up/down?
Seems about the same to me. Maybe the Superblast v1 was a little longer
Would you pick one for work outs and the other for racing? If so which one your first choice for racing?
First choice is the sky Paris for me
Ive only neen running for about 2 months and really love the NIke Vaporfly3 but after around 30 miles ive noticed a tiny bit of wear on the toe part of the shoe, have been looking at these as cheaper then the Nike Alpha3, would you say these Metaspeed paris are more durable then the Vaporfly3 and Alpha3?
The vf3 will start to breakdown with some runners
How's the toe box, does the midsole feel narrow?
Generous toebox. Arch is a little narrow
@@EDDBUD would you say it's as narrow as an endorphin pro 3?
TTS? ❤
Yes I would say go true to size on those
I had the v1 Tokyo unbelievable fast shoe but omg midsole was mashed within a few runs...I personally struggle to purchase high end race day shoes only...just no value what So ever.....or am I just a tight ass...😂
The modern versions are a bit more durable.
I really wonder if it’s worth it for ASICS to make two such similar shoes.
Maybe a more drastic colourway change?
Marathon Mile Mashing! 😂
Definitely “edging” towards that version 🤣
I like what you did there. 👊🤣👍🏼
Does it come in different widths?
No width fittings for these
@@EDDBUD bummer, a sad day for my wide feet. I am not sure how to break this news to them.
6mm drop... 43-37mm 😊
It’s something like that. Unless people want me to cut the shoes on half I can’t get a more precise measurement. I’m not going to do that
@@EDDBUD What?! No runrepeat methodology 1.7? I'm disappointed.
@@matthanna1980 I would rather have the shoes to run in further than chop up art. 👍🏼
👊🏼🤖‼️
Always appreciated
Can't find this in size 14 :( wtf
Don’t think they have ever done the race shoes in that size sadly.
unfortunately very expensive .especially in my country
So you're having an affair with two cousins? 😂
🤣🤣
*serrated
Cut me fingers on them, almost
@@EDDBUD that's those dangerous jaggy edges, they cut time off PB's
Hi Edd, I’ve always wondered what you say at the start of the videos, dankashere? I’ve never understood it. Cheers,
German for thanks.
