    We went to Alaska a few years ago. We flew to Seattle, took the train up to Vancouver, which was a beautiful ride up the coast. We then took a cruise out of Vancouver and a 5-day land tour. It really was the trip of a lifetime. I’m dying to see how the new IS system does on the ALCAN, especially since you guys can definitely tell us the difference from your many other trips on the ALCAN.

We are excited to go back home to Alaska & to drive the Alcan & test our IS on this journey! We want to take an Alaskan cruise one day, we’ve also taken the ferry before, which was fun too. Congrats you guys...great video! We just got our MORryde IS and Deemaxx disc brakes installed on our brand new 5th wheel in March 2024. Then, on the drive home, we had to try out the new disc brakes on I-75 South. Pretty sure we avoided an accident due to the great handling and braking. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the system is now bolt on as well. We were 4" nose high when we rolled into MORryde so now we're 4" higher in the back...giving us more rear stabilizer clearance! The MORryde system is phenomenal!

    I have been keeping an eye on the bolt-on version. Actually, I had an appointment for our 5er, but between the price increase, current economic climate, and two other issues with our Solitude, my wife and I had to cancel. I have been to MORryde many times and know several folks there and am a Profesional Engineer. So it gave me great pain to watch the techs hammering down the fasteners with the impact then using a torque wrench improperly. Basically, every fastener is overtorqued... In years past, that would have never flown in their shop, but I suppose they have the same labor challenges all of us do in this day. • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@angelaleong7224 we went with the 8k because our trailer is rated at 16,700 pounds and it is on the boarder of either suspension. We decided since we already had 8k disc brakes that it made sense for the larger weight capacity. Eventually we are going to upgrade to 16.5” H rated tires to fully enjoy the benefits of the 8K suspension. 7K is perfectly acceptable for the trailer also; we cannot get a new DOT sticker so we are limited to what the tag says for weight. Of 7K is cheaper and we didn’t already have the 8K brakes we would have put 7K on.

    So this "bolt on" method is an option over a "weld on" method? Is the cost the same after-market?
    I do know Alliance has this as a factory upgrade...but they are listing this option at about $11k and change. Now, you are getting a few other things (like disc brakes) in addition to the IS with this factory option...but they still make it awfully expensive.

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Camustang, the bolt on is very similar price to the weld on option. You are correct that it is expensive in either case. Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. It adds about 800lbs of underslung weight which does not impact your frame but does cut into the stickered cargo capacity. Unfortunately no one will adjust the GVWR even though the capacity will change.

    Thank you for the information. I wish they could get a better handle on costs. It is not inexpensive. I think more folks would be able to come on board with their system. Do they give you any credit for the old axles they remove? There is some value to the original axles in the non rv trailer world. Especially upgrading. Or do they sell them back to the rv manufacturer, lol. Thanks again.

      Hey Professional Inspection Services, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. MORryde does not give is credit for the removed axels. They did give us the option to keep them but hailing was going to be the concern. I believe they recycle the axels because they had a lot of bins with them.

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Jeff, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The cost varies depending on the options you get. They have an 7K or 8K version, with or without disc brakes, and tandem or tripple axle. Over all it is between $7-10k. We believe it is the best suspension system made for RV’s. Is it worth it? We say yes especially now that you can transfer the system between trailers (As long as the geometry is the same) If we go from a 2021 Alliance Paradigm to a 2024 Alliance Paradigm we know the IS can come with us. The other two things we recommend to consider is; if you plan on keeping your trailer for a long period of time or you do a lot of traveling then we believe it is a valuable addition because your trailer will not be beat up when you tow.

    Hi there!
    I wanted to ask you about the Bolt On Independent suspension. Is it only for Alliance brands or can it be used for any brand 5th wheel. Also, when you say it can be removed and use for your next RV how does that work? What happens to the Rv you remove it from when or if you trade it in? Sorry if I am asking a stupid question. Also, what’s the difference between a 7k and 8k suspension? Since it takes 8 hours less labor time, is the cost less too? We got an estimate for both the 7k and 8k w/ the disc brakes and it was in the 13-14k range. Labor hours was 32 hours. Does this sound right? We can’t go the MORryde but we are going to an installer recommended by them
    Called Henderson’s lineup in Grants Pass Oregon. They also did not mention the Bolt On system. We are going to look into it. We appreciate this video coming out. Thank you!
    Apologies for the length, we are fairly new to the RV life and just a year in. We owned an LTV and sold it and now have a new 5th wheel Brinkley Z2900.
    Thanks in advance!

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Angela, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. We appreciate the support and do not mind the questions. The bolt on suspension is being manufactured for most brands and it is not generic just to Alliance. The only factor for changing the suspension out is that the new trailer has the same measurements as the trailer that it was originally on. Example is the “wide track” suspension that was on our Heartland would not fit on our Alliance. If we pulled the independent suspension off our Alliance we would have to put the new trailers lead spring suspension on the old trailer and basically swap the suspension. The main difference between a 7k and an 8k is the weight rating on the suspension. There is a lot of difference in tire size, lug nuts, brakes sizes, etc. Honestly none of that matter too much; you have to decide if you want the heavier duty suspension or if your trailer already has 8k. If it does not, to move to 8k ends up requiring larger components (Wheels, tires, brakes) and may not be worth the extra money and weight for a minor gain. The last thing to consider is that no matter what suspension you choose you will not get the weight rating of the trailer changed and legally you can only use the numbers from the factory. The $13-14k with disc brakes is in the right price range for their 3rd party installation. It may be a little cheaper at MOrryde but that is a haul from Oregon. If we missed anything or you have additional questions don’t hesitate to email us Venturesomecouple@gmail.com . TH-cam stuck this comment in hold status and we don’t want to miss anything.

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey adventuresinrvland, thank you for watching the video and supporting us! We really appreciate you two. The factory suspension bolts hold the system in place just like your leaf springs are attached. Since the system is prebuilt the entire trailer weight sits on the rails of the IS and is attached to the leaf spring hangers. Since there is no moving parts like the leaf springs we don’t have to worry about grease. We visually inspect the bolts on every trip but don’t have to do much else.

      Hey Ricky,
      Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The Independent Suspension is an option now directly from the Alliance factory for the Paradigm line. We agree with having as a standard option would be great! We have been told it comes down to the additional cost and that some people do not want the added price on their purchase. The leaf springs and drum breaks are significantly cheaper and are adequate to meet the safety requirements of the DOT.

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hey Melissa, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The major benefit is that the independent suspension provides a far smoother ride and will not fail like a leaf spring suspension (Hopefully). We have traveled over 50K miles in just over two years, for us it is well worth the investment due to the increase in strength by putting on an 8K suspension versus a 7K leaf spring and axel. I will say that it is not a must have if you are not doing long travel or full time travel due to the cost. If you plan on keeping the Paradigm long term and will be doing a lot of travel. The independent suspension will protect your trailer by not beating it up as bad.

    What was the difference in weight between bolt on or welded on?

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Darryl, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. There really isn’t a weight difference between the two. The main change is that all of the welding is done to IS system instead of the trailers chassis. We were told that the welding on the rv gave more room for error on the technician by burning under belly’s, melting wires, etc.

      Thank you for watching our upgrade video for the MORryde Bolt-on independent suspension and disc brakes. We recommend calling MORryde or going to their website as pricing will depend on how many axles you have, if you have disc brakes or upgrading your disc brakes or not getting disc brakes, etc and if you’re getting any other upgrades at that time too. There’s a lot of factors for the pricing and MORryde is the best place for all of that information. If you mention, Venturesome Couple sent you, you will save a couple hundred dollars towards accessories when you get your IS upgrade. And I’m sure depending on when you get your upgrade will determine the price as well, such as inflation or price changes, if your RV can get the Bolt-on versus the welded independent suspension.
