    I'm running a Tyrant on foot, Baron VonGutstuffyn. Biting Blade, Armor of Destiny, Giantbreaker Big name, Lorrels of Victory. In a unit of Ironguts w/ Runemaw banner.
    Bruiser with Magic armor, BSB, Demon Slayer scars.
    Firebelly, Ruby Ring, Dispel Scroll.

    One of my favorites in old world. Their backstory is amazing. Their models are really cool.

      Glad it helped mate! The most important thing is to just start, especially if your group/gaming friends aren’t playing tourne style all the time just getting some units on the board even not optimal ones helps so much in fantasy I think!
      Hope you enjoy the ogres!

    One point on the Slaughtermaster in particular is that you're not inherently decreasing how killy you are in close combat as opposed to the Tyrant. If you go Illusion you get access to the Spectral Doppelganger spell, which is 2d6 automatic hits using the strength and effects of the caster and his weapon. There's probably nothing in the game which benefits from this spell more than a Slaughtermaster. Give him an Ogre Blade or even the Tenderizer and just absolutely splatter characters in challenges plus the Arcane Familiar to guarantee you get it or, for a much more reasonable build substitute in the Biting Blade to actually afford a ward save. Can add the Big Name for +1 Strength, so it's 2d6 S5 AP 2 hits with Armorbane 2 in addition to your normal attacks.
    Illusion does combine quite well with the ogres in general, I think. Having the ability to totally manipulate charges wins you games.

      There is one, the Dark Elf sorceress, wich can take a weapon wich always wounds on 2+, AP2, and Killing Blow, and then has exactly the points for the spell selection item
      That’s scary
      But she is waaaaaaaaay less interesting outside of this combo, compared to the slaughtermaster indeed.
      I quite like him in battle magic giving a 5+ ward as well

    Amazing video!! Gave me allot to think about. Just one thing I believe that flaming attacks only removes regeneration if the unit is flammable like yethees or trolls. Undead don't have this so will still get there regeneration save.

    I love the gnoblars, bribed my wife to paint all 120 of them, I have them organized into 5 units of 25 and 1 of 20.
    That's only 240 pts, and I didn't have to paint a single one.

    Mawseeker is mitigated by Veteran, so if you put them with Ironguts, it's a solid pick.

      I actually did this in my last game. It worked really well. I was able to pass all of my tests and did have to use the reroll a few times.

    Does the Ogre PDF say you can only have 1 of each big name? otherwise mutiple Death cheaters. Give the Hunter beast killer with his harpoon launcher makes him more reliable. the problem with the harpoon launcher on a beast is its BS3.

    • @Road.To.Reikland

      The restriction is in the unit entry you may only take a single Big Name

    • @oakleystactics579
      @oakleystactics579 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yes I realise it is a single bigname per character but there seems no restriction on how many characters can use the same big name.@@Road.To.Reikland

    GAANH, WALVAX THULN.
    Really sweet walrus-humanoid with massive fock off spear.
    Makes a cool lookin hunter.
    The ogre samurai from dark art studios. He only fits on a 50mm base. Give him a bow. And you've got an oriental hunter.

    Thanks for putting this up. If you add a leader to a unit of vets does it get the reroll leadership tests?

    • @BearfootMiniatures
      @BearfootMiniatures  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey mate, no worries and glad you enjoyed it
      You only get the reroll if your using the veteran models' leadership
      So a butcher wouldn't get a reroll on a ld test for a cauldron for joining say a unit of veteran Ironguts sadly

  • @iiiiiii5

    For Maneaters, since they have motley crew I would take a unit of 5 and have 3 with great weapons and 2 with iron fists and heavy armor. Run them in a line of four and then you have two units that can tank wounds while the 3 dish out damage.

    • @BearfootMiniatures

      not a bad shout at all, so much character to come from the models aswell that it will look great and have the benefit youve said!

    Rune Maw I think gets really intriguing if you go linehammer. You could theoretically keep units safe from being targeted by being LOS blocked by the line, but the line can't be targeted by magic most of the time. I know linehammer's a bit controversial and for good reason, but it's a potentially powerful combination.

    • @ThePaintedHope
      @ThePaintedHope 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I struggle to see linehammer working well for ogres. seeing as you lose so many attacks when you make supporting attacks.

    • @BearfootMiniatures
      @BearfootMiniatures  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As Painted hope says; potentially so expensive and will vastly limit the ogres manoeuvres but the theory checks out id just have to see it done!

    I'm a little surprised Ogre Maneaters don't have access to drilled.

    • @BearfootMiniatures
      @BearfootMiniatures  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      some form of drilled would've definately been nice in the list though I see that its a horde not an actually army so its just an area theyre lacking I suppose

    • @leathersmith88
      @leathersmith88 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BearfootMiniatures I agree that it would be odd for any other ogre unit, but Maneaters specifically adopt the culture and fighting styles of the lands they visit. Not having Drilled as one of there options seems like a small over sight.

    skullplucker is decent on an illusion butcher, since the doppelganger spell uses ya magic weapon profile can just murder a front rank at strikes first protecting ya slow bulls a bit (have to take a lore familiar and demon slayer scars for the full build) that being said i think im valuing bringing a caster less and less, think if i would take one now it would be an unupgraded firebelly for the fire breath and the hellheart.

    • @BearfootMiniatures
      @BearfootMiniatures  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good shout there! Though agreed on the butchers being less and less valuable, theyre just so many points and the cauldron rule so hit and miss

    • @ThePaintedHope
      @ThePaintedHope 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Has your opinion changed on this since you posted?
      I've played a couple games, and so far I feel a lvl 4 is absolutely mandetory.
      Besides that I also theorized about rhe skullplucker, however I think it's really only worth it for challenges. On avarage you should only roll 1 6. And the rest of the weapin profile is really bad.
      I tried it with sword of might previously and absolutely anihilated a scar veteran on a saurus.
      Tomorrow i'm trying my hand at giant blade+ potion of strength+ grut's sickle with illusion.
      Here's hoping I roll doppleganger😂

    • @repentia1
      @repentia1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ThePaintedHope I think it's level 4 or no wizard at all now tbh. As for the skullplucker it does it's job, it. Reduces the amount of attacks coming in at me with strike first. If I need to kill a big thing I hunt it with a tyrant on stone horn.

  • @oukt237
    @oukt237 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nice! One thing I dont understand: why does a stonehorn not stomp? I mean as extra damage at the end of the combat phase. As a behemoth he got the stomp rule, but this does not the damage. If any monster should have it then it would be a stonehorn imo! I am pleased with the ogres overall, cause i can play in very different styles. Many monsters and heavy cav, Hunter and his tusks aided by the yethees and a gorger. Or playing infantry heavy...or best for me: a bit of all of them😂. Biggest looser for me are the leadbelchers...most of the time you hit at a 5 or worse. Not reliable for me.

    • @BearfootMiniatures
      @BearfootMiniatures  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad you enjoyed the vid mate! I sort of think about it as the stomps are simply transferred to the impact hits, I know they don’t come off all the time (only charge) but it allows you to get those attacks in before the enemy strike
