    Noah’s bullying story is really a sign of someone pretty well adjusted. Being a kid and having a basic awareness that someone hustling you for money/food is probably based out of their need for attention/food is incredibly sweet.

    • @RiverDarling
      @RiverDarling ปีที่แล้ว +79

      That was really interesting that they were all bullied to a degree but it didn't really affect them and they're all successful and well adjusted. It makes me wonder the long term damage of bullying to people who don't have that perspective or experience it worse

    • @cocoa020
      @cocoa020 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      Yes, I think the difference can be at home for the person being bullied. Being bullied at school and coming home to absent or indifferent or abusive parents/siblings can probably worsen the trauma

    • @cv6442
      @cv6442 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @@cocoa020absolutely true. For many kids with abusive homes, school is their escape. So to then be bullied at school... that's going to be extra hard to adjust normally. 😞

    • @robynvanhorn
      @robynvanhorn 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I was bullied at school by the kids and most teachers. Then i would go home and have to deal with an evil mother and a gutless father.
      It got so bad that my mother got the shot g_n out and was going to (unalive) me.
      Fast forward and she threatened to do the same thing to my grandson if he showed up at her house as a teenager. That was in 2013. I told her she was f'ed up and stopped talking to her.
      2021 my sister died and i found out from our coworker!!!!

      @@RiverDarlingthe thing is you dont know if it affected them or not simply by watching their video's.
      They're putting on an act to be entertaining and carefree. It could have probably affected their interpersonal relationships & communication but you would never be able to tell what someone's going through

I understand that having greater credentials will increase the chances of being taken seriously, but books take a *long ass time to write*. You can start now and finish when you have greater credentials. Just getting the basics down will help. Even researching for your book is progress. Beginning progress on our future goals convinces our brains that meeting those goals is our future and not just a future possibility. And by doing that, you get a positive mindset and feelings of pride that can motivate you in other areas of your life. /nf

    The Freemasons I have met were in rural Indiana, it was just a local business and community fraternity, like the Rotary Club or the Lions Club. They network with each other and promote local business ownership, sponsor little league teams, and hold charity 5k runs. I have never understood why some people think they are more than a club. They are a little backward and old fashioned, but their goals are literally community improvement. I predict that as membership becomes younger, they will be more accepting.

  • @xeniccryptid

    Such a fun episode! It was really interesting hearing Noahs story about the Freemasons. (For context I’m Canadian) My Grandpa was apparently part of them at one point, but I haven’t heard much more than that, and they don’t even go to church or anything, so I don’t think he’s that hardcore religious anymore. But also, I just graduated from guiding/scouting which I’ve been doing since I was 5 years old, and we always rely on placed renting out space for us to meet. It’s usually schools and churches, and this past three years we were at a Presbyterian Church that had a Masonic Centre sharing our parking lot. So sometimes you’d see a hoard of men in fancy black suits, black tophats, and black briefcases walk into the building. I was always curious what exactly their deal was.

    Funny story. I was talking to my friends about our school experience and bullying and I told them I was never bullied. Some girls kept being mean to me throughout school but my older sister would tell me they were jealous so I brushed it off and their behaviour would weirdly boost my ego, because they felt I was so cool to be jealous in the first place. I felt sorry for them as well, because my sister told me jealousy eats you up inside and I never engaged with their comments. I would think something like:"Oh here goes Monica making fun of my clothes again, poor Monica she must suffer because of her jealousy again".I also never processed it as being bullied. All my friends insisted I was and they were cracking up laughing picturing me living my school years with the peace of mind that some girls were jealous and thought I was better and that's why they were mean 😂😂😂 God bless older sisters! she saved me from so much hurt

    I really appreciate how intelligent this conversation was about the pitfalls and dangers of conspiracy theories. Instead of just making fun of the ridiculousness of some conspiracies, you took the time to talk about how people fall into these thought processes, especially in the modern age, and how to avoid that type of thinking.

    There’s a great concept in science and philosophy called a just so story, which basically refers to the practice of creating an explanatory narrative for why a thing is the way it is that can often sound very compelling but isn’t actually backed by any comprehensive evidence. It’s a nice thing to keep in mind to keep from deluding yourself from thinking you’ve single handedly figured out the answers to earths greatest mysteries

    So.. my friend works for Mattress Firm and you have to know.. their margins are the only thing criminal going on. BECAUSE people don't buy mattresses remotely regularly, they have like a 3000% margin or some crazy shit. Employees get insane discounts on a mattress though.

    • @timlong4791
      @timlong4791 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did some math on the mattress thing, the US has 331 million people, and 48,870 mattress stores. That's 6,773 people per store. If each person buys a new mattress every 10 years that's still 677 mattresses sold a year. At an average around 1000 dollars for each mattress, each of those stores is netting around 677,000 dollars a year. I know there's ton's of wiggle room on each of those numbers, but everything is built off averages. I'm just saying, it's no wonder there's so many, it seems actually pretty lucrative.

    Shayne I have a Bigfoot story from near my hometown! In 2010 in Cleveland County, NC a man was interviewed by the news bc he saw Knobby (how my local area refers to Bigfoot). This was televised on local news and became a big story for all of us in middle school. People began selling merch and a ‘Knobby Git Stick’ because the man had a walking stick that he swung at it and said “git, git out Knobby” (yes you must imagine in a thick Appalachian accent). My bff and I would go with her dad in his Jeep to drive around the country backroads “Knobby hunting” 🤣 her dad was definitely just having fun taking us around in the dark and claiming he could see things to scare us. You can still find the original article online! It was a very funny time in middle school with all the Knobby obsession.
