Way back when this first came out, I knew a guy in the Coast Guard that wound up being a Glacius main. He changed his GamerTag to Puddle Pirate for awhile. Our group of friends that played together were all military, so we got the joke and loved it.

I really like Eyedols design to be honest, the "twist" it puts on the idea of big ogre-esque thing with two heads is pretty simple, but for some reason I love it. Maybe because it looks somewhat like a greater demon of Nurgle.
Really adds a disturbing element to his rebooted design, it’s one head _split_ in two, and you can see the brain halves behind the electricity (nerves of the brain)
Oh man his new design fucking rules. A singular head severed into two halves with their own consciousness is infinitely more interesting than a two headed ogre thing. That said, his old design still slaps too and I love it for the nostalgia value

@@15OgLoc Nah, she's extremely similar to how she was at launch. Sako is one of the least changed characters across all KI's various patches. Max just plays a lot of games and hasn't touched this one in a while.

As a spectator, killer instinct is one of my favorite fighters to watch, fast beautiful, unique move set, music and the announcer. Such a great game one of the first games im going to get on pc

7 years later and still no word on a remake/sequel? this game and the players that stick with K.I. deserve better. Hell, if ya ain't going to do anything with this game Microsoft hand it over to Sony.

I love the idea of someone walking up to the aftermath of the Double K.O. and just finding a futuristic killer robot and sorta two-headed ogre lying unconscious on the ground.

After playing and watching a lot of MVCi, the 'Combo' breaker system here is a fucking ingenious concept.
Like some of the fuck ups from max was only from trying to stop his combos early to switch it up from Mid, Heavy and light. . . Like No Other Game Does That!
I felt like I had to be in my Toes to want to play this game, where MVCi at least did better than UMVC in regards to get punched once and being open the rest of the match to Infinites.
This game keeps you thinking ahead of your current moves along with knowing your opponent is looking to combo break at some point.
Also, this looks like a good mix of different fighting games with its own twist. . . . What a crazy Early Game for Xbox One that's Still kicking today.
MS did good with this game, now to top themselves by taking all the good stuff and adding some First Party Quality Graphics on top.

I wish I had gotten into this game when it was newer. I tried it a few weeks ago, and it's really fun, but everyone online is so good that I get bopped without even getting a chance to learn anything.
Seeing Hisako reminded me of why I loved this game so much. I miss her ambigous and underused cross up. Doubt I can play her anymore, it feels like an eternity since I last played.

Considering that a sequel is a real possibility, I’d recommend learning how the game works without auto combo
Rusty Shackleford I don’t have real info, since I’m just another dude who plays video games for fun, but the game’s long-term success can’t be ignored. People want more KI, and people will buy consoles for games they really want. Microsoft knows that, and Halo isn’t getting the job done. Even Fable will only do so well, since it’ll be on PC as well. I doubt it will be a launch title again, but all Microsoft has to do is announce it’s coming and people will buy in
I recommend without auto combos. In general, combos in KI are less demanding than in other games (plus the basic combos are practically universal). Only when you get to certain character specific combos you need more execution, but you will not get there with auto combos anyway. Aside from that, autocombos make you predictable, allowing the opponent to combo break easily.
@@Neon-yj9xw Hold your horses. I didn't buy a XBOX for KI and I didn't buy the Nintendo for the newest Zelda. And I'm a huge fan a both games. Coming from someone who had a 360 which I always played with a PS3 which I never played just to use Blu Ray. I stuck with Playstation 4 because of more exclusives and games. And KI wasn't really that hype, not saying it wont get a sequel

Do you see Xbox packing any other launch titles? They have to have something to compete with Sony, and it isn’t Gears, Halo, Cyberpunk, and certainly not Forza. It’s either rush something out and get shit on for it or put out the second string games, they don’t have much other choice with damn near all of their best games being delayed or non-exclusive. Unless they get timed exclusivity on the upcoming COD, which I don’t see happening, they don’t really have anything to get people to buy an Xbox over the PS5.

It's disrespectful, people only let it run when they got annoyed during the match and wants to flex at the end. By then you'd end up seeing a triple ultra though.

ive only ever done 1 double KO on this with about 300+ hours sunk in, and it was one of the most shocking experiences in the game i ever had haha
How you break the combos ones some body lack me on a combo I can't get out
You need to be able to read the opponent's linkers in order to break. If you notice that they are always doing opener, medium linker, random ender then you know to press MP and MK together whenever they do the medium linker.
Same goes for any linkers but that's where a deep learning of the game comes in, you need to be able to recognise what button they are pressing and it's always going to look different from character to character. When you break with the wrong button it will tell you what you should have used in a little symbol above their head, you could try breaking with that strength breaker and it'll work if they never change their combos up.
It's really hard to explain but you could just go through the tutorial and that will cover all the basics, then you just need to learn your match ups.

Would love to get into KI more but i've experienced the most trolly/BM behaviour in KI in the last 2 months playing online than i have in any other fighter, probably besides MK11.

I use a fight stick for KI, doing DPs on a controller would tear my fingers to pieces! I use controller for MK but anything else I use a fight stick for.

I agree, I have no idea why they do that. MK is also famous for having moves that look high or low that are just mid. Im talking character laying on the ground kicking you and it's somehow a mid.

This is fun to watch, but I still don't understand how all these breakers work. I tried to pick up the game once but found out the pc version counts as an Xbox game and my arcade stick was incompatible. ...So I played Them's Fighting Herds for awhile instead.
TFH is a great game, I wish they would double the roster though. Breakers take time to master and it's never something you'll do consistently against another human. That being said though it is something you can learn if you put the time in, the game has a good tutorial for it.

I'll always love Hisako's voice. Something I'll never understand is that goofy "shadow zone" thing with the combo enders. The black screen with a tiny layer of colored fog always looked lazy to me.
It was added very late in the game’s development (Season 3). For anyone who doesn’t like the effect, it can be turned on or off in the options.
Similarly, some of the Ultimates are also lazy-looking. They were also added late (again, Season 3). By that time, I’m not sure how much budget they had left to work on the game, but they at least made sure to make the Ultimates free.
To be honest, though, it is a simple effect, and it works, even if it is “lazy.” It is a big visual reminder that you got a Tier 4 Combo Ender, which is satisfying/cathartic.

@@ultrawillpower2737 Ya some people look good with her, but time and time again I look at the best players in the world break down from pressure by much more prominent picks. Not for lack of options by wu, but maybe because of how much set up is necessary to get her engines on full rotation. I wish someone like h.sleep, bass or rico mained her just so I could see some insanity spill out of that character.
Joel senju The great thing about KI 2013 is that every character, even “weak” ones like Omen, Kan-Ra, and Kilgore (also slow sluggers like General RAAM), is near-100% viable, meaning that players can pick ‘em up, experiment, and go nuts with them however they want.
The balance is thankfully not like Smash Melee or MVC2 where only 5 characters are top-viable and the rest are mid-to-low tier useless trash.
@@ultrawillpower2737 I swear people will call for nerfs if a RAAM started winning tournies with 90%dmg combos. You're right, every character has the options available to WIN convincingly, it just takes more thought process with some more than others.

Late reaction, BUT it's a shame they left KI for dead.. half of the roster doesnt have ultimates, more then half a dozen aint having terror skins.. etc. It hurts to see how they left our beloved game behind unfinished imo. Hopefully there's gonna be a remake of KI once again but you know.. a finished one :) Max great vids keep it up my dood and stay healthy!

Hearing max talk about this game makes me think of that otter eating a watermelon and despite how disgusted he looks he still keeps eating it. He does not like most of the match ups in this game,. Most of the games I see him play he is super serious and frustrated. Why does he make himself keep playing it if it upsets him this much every time?
The tech in this game is more difficult to master than any other fighting game but that makes it all the more addictive because you're always able to improve. Also unlike any other fighting game you're still participating all the way through someone hitting you with a 30 hit combo. Any other fighting game makes you feel bad while you watch yourself get pummelled but in KI you're constantly fighting even when you're the one being hit. It's just a much more enjoyable game to play, even if you do lose a lot.
