Been watching your videos the past 3 weeks and bought 2 Espresso machines from you. So excited and so happy for this new venture . Thank You so much Mark.
Hi pc, "best" means different things to different users. Do you prefer single dose, weight based, hopper fed? I'm currently working with Varia VS6. It's a variable RPM single dose grinder with small footprint and it's very quiet. Comes stock with 58 flat burrs but has conical burr upgrades. www.wholelattelove.com/products/varia-vs6-grinder?variant=43159386062902 Marc
Thanks Marc. I’m curious as to why you guys recommend these (for example) Ceado, hopper style grinders which seem awesome and yet other popular TH-camrs never touch them in their reviews. I see non-stop Webber, Option-O, etc. reviews and recommendations and just crickets for Ceado. Is this a case that they won’t review them because they aren’t financially motivated to do so? And by the same token, I don’t see you guys reviewing the single doses that much. Is it because these are legit better, or is it preference for a hopper style? The Ceado sure seems fast…. Thanks. I’m enjoying my Pro600 I bought from you 1Q2023 and considering a grinder upgrade!
Ceado is bigger in commercial setting and hopper style is really useful in those settings. Single does is really for a set of home users that got time on their hand and there are still users prefer hopper style rather than single dosing. Single dosing isn’t something new it’s just one of the trends that’s going around tbh.
There's no conspiracy. GBW grinders have bad retention which doesn't matter in a commercial environment doing hundreds of shots a day of the same beans. If you're brewing at home a couple of shots a day with several different beans, single dosing with a low retention grinder makes more sense.
Hey juice, You are welcome and thanks for your question and of course your patronage! Not sure about financial motivations. To be transparent, we only review products we carry and we are very selective about what we carry and recommend. Originally, Ceado grinders were totally in the commercial market. This was back 10+ years ago when more serious consumer level grinders came on the scene. Back then, Baratza changed the game with accessibly priced grinders intended for home use. They could get the job done but had nowhere near the build quality of commercial grinders. Other available options included the Rancilio Rocky and maybe Mazzer grinders for more serious crossover prosumer level grinding. I'm working on a best of single dose video now. We have individually reviewed a number of SD grinders from Eureka, Ceado and Varia. Hopper fed vs. single dose is a personal preference based on how one intends to use a grinder. SDs have become more popular in the past few years for those into high-end specialty coffee, switching beans a lot or maybe looking to reduce waste. On the other hand, hopper fed grinders have a convenience factor and if you still want extra fresh doses just flush a few grams and that's what you get. Marc
Home barista here, have ECM synchronica with the ETZmax machine. Love the grinder, easy to clean but the precision of my machine is not spot on. I get differences of sometimes more than .5 grams and even 1 gram once. Even after calibrating it again…. Really have no clue why….
Hi a, Thanks for sharing your experience - and nice setup!. Some very slight variation in weight is normal. If you're consistently off by more than .5 gram that would be unusual. Any chance you are compounding weighing errors/rounding when using a separate scale to confirm?
Hi TB, the Mignon Specialita is a very good grinder. It just doesn't fit into the "High-End" category this video focuses on. You will find a Eureka Mignon model in our best mid-range of 2024 video coming soon! Marc
@Wholelattelovepage thanks!! I thought it was a bad investment since I bought one and was panicking. Almost canceled the order, haha. Good to know it's a great grinder!
@bluemystic7501 Just did my first shot using a grinder. Absolutely game changer. Can't believe I bought everything but the coffee grinder until last minute.
Hi Bill, we'll be carrying several grinders from Etzinger in the etzMAX line. You can view them all here: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/etzinger Nick
I do understand these are one of leading companies in grinders market. but, no home barista should use these models, period. Any hopper based grinders should not enter your home. End game home espresso grinders should be single dose capable, with almost zero retention. High quality parts, and ease of dissassembly. There are numerus options. Yet, those in the video indeed are an amazing list, but would not recommend to home baristas.
Why not? I have a Etzmax grinder as a home barista and wouldn’t want to go back. No rentention, easy grinding , no hassle , small hopper to get through the day, and soooo easy to maintain. Don’t see your point that a home barista shouldn’t be using one of the models. Yes the grinders are pricy but so many nice things are…..
No worries, working on video for best single dosers of 2024 now! Also, the Ceado Barista in this video with backspin is pretty much a single doser with hopper Marc

@@TwainB Yeah, the grinder is kind of the most important piece of equipment. I have a Eureka too, absolutely love it.
What Etzinger models will you be getting? I don’t see any on your site. They seem to have a few versions of the EtzMax.

Where is the Mahlkonig E65S GBW?
In other words, if you want a no fuzz grinder for home use, get an Atom W65?
Grind by weight is no fuss!
Marc
@Wholelattelovepage I mean if you want a straight forward GBW grinder without additional features, than the Atom W65 would be a great option. Right?
The w75 amazing

No single dose machines? We have a rule at home, no pop corn machines which basically means no hoppers.
