    This has much much more lower retention than my previous Specialita so i assume they are not the same in one way or another . The difference is very notable .

    This looks identical in many ways both inside and out to the Eureka Mignon Specialita. Did they make this?

    great review! thanks! for a Lelit PL41TEM PID, would you recommend to get a Gaggia MDF 55 or a Lelit PL43MMI?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hi mp, thanks for the question. Much nicer 55mm flat burrs in the MDF plus timed presets. Full disclosure, I have not used the PL43MMI but according to specs it uses a smaller 38mm conical burr set. I prefer the larger flat burrs in the MDF for espresso grinding. Also it's an on-demand grinder so no timed presets.
      Hope that helps!

      @@Wholelattelovepage thanks for this, I bought the Gaggia. I have a question tho, I am trying to make an espresso with 12g of coffee and to get out 24g of coffee in 20-30s. I am facing some issues setting the grind size on the grinder, as I am rotating clockwise the wheel and I am getting the 24g of coffee in 16s. I have rotated the wheel and I am close to the "1" position on the wheel. What do you suggest to do? Keep rotating? Do you have a suggestion on what position should the wheel be placed?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mp3311 You are welcome. Yes you should adjust your grind a little finer to slow down the extraction. On all but a few grinders the numbers on the adjustment are for reference only. The "0" on the wheel rarely represents the finest grind setting. In your case I'd adjust a half a number finer and see how that changes your extraction timing. If too slow go a 1/4 number back toward coarser. When you change grind size the grinder should be running when adjusting finer to avoid crushing bean between the burrs. Also, purge a few grams so your next dose is all the same grind size.
      See this section of the video for details on how to find your finest grind setting: th-cam.com/video/Nb2rfMS70vo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OZcl6ewHKczZCO0L&t=736
      Hope that helps!

    Hello Thank you for the excellent review, can you share what is good setting for espresso to use as starting point, of course it will vary but what to use as a start i got the machine few days ago and am currently around 6 setting (i did the empty run with burrs touching around setting 1 like in your review) thank you in advance for the reply.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, thanks for the question. Difficult to give a precise answer due to the variables involved. Best advice is to start with a grind that when you pinch it together leaves a hint of your fingerprint. From there zero in on the grind size looking to pull a standard extraction in 20-30 seconds. If needed, here a video which explains how to perform basic grind size dial in regardless of the grinder used: th-cam.com/video/unHHToGjshI/w-d-xo.html
      Hope that helps!

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there.
      The Gaggia MDF 55 improves upon the Facile in several ways. The MDF has larger burrs (55mm v 50mm) and has the option for timed dosing while the Facile does not.

      @@Wholelattelovepage Hey! Thanks for replying. And which grinder would you recommend for an upgrade over the Facile? Gaggia, Eureka Specialita, other? Thanks!

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for very informative video. This type of the adjustable fork filter holder will do fine with 58mm portafilters but might prove somewhat unsuitable for espresso machines using 53mm, or 51mm baskets - thinking Dalla Corte, La Spaziale and La Pavoni Europiccola respectively. Would this be a correct assumption?
    A persistent problem with the grinders of any range is the heat generated by the motor, especially during the extended use when grinding more coffee, or when the motor is pushed through its paces with darker roasts. Especially cheaper grinders with plastic casing and poorly designed internals can generate more heat than others and while not having an impact on the grind quality, it does add to the machine’s overall thermal output. Might be nice to add to your future tests a temperature check, perhaps with some pre-selected roasts for testing consistency, an IR thermometer might do the trick.
    Would be interested to see your experience with the grinder after 1-2 weeks … especially when switching back and forth between single dosing brews and shots, and the amount of coffee it retains. Take care. D.

    Would help if you could leave best grind size you found for espresso so other users could take that as a point of start . Would help in wasting much less coffee .

    Can you fit a dosing funnel on top of the portafilter basket when you grind?

      You can fit a dosing funnel on your portafilter under the spout, but please note that you will not be able to grind hands-free.

    The word on the street is that it is a rebodied Eureka Mignon Specialita, so I suppose it is a tried and tested grinder and then you are just looking at price and styling or brand loyalty to make the choice
