Me too! I loved Linda and that whole cast. Funny note is I watched the show more with my father. We used to laugh so hard at the comedic moments. Such sweet memories for me.
Growing up in the 70s my mom was a real life Alice. She was divorced and worked as a waitress so she could be home with me when I got home from school because my dad gave barely any emotional or financial support. Back then it was very tough for a divorced woman but my mom stood strong and honestly is the best thing to ever happen in my life. I loved the show Alice because there was love, humor and a strong mom doing her best. RIP Linda ❤
My mom was the same way, newly divorced. She got a job at Kip's Big Boy, but had to go out of state to train. Along with my sister, we had to stay with my stepfather and his new wife, who was very kind to us, when Mom had to work difficult hours, and not be with us. In a sense since your mother could be with you after school, you were lucky. Here's to our hardworking moms! Mine is 86 now.
I'm so glad you mentioned her on this show! I also took a notice of her talent as Det. Janice Wentworth. They were really fun episodes - IMDb says there was only 5 episodes. Loved that she got the part as Alice.
I saw Linda Lavin in Denver for her play "Tale of the Allergist's Wife" over 20 years ago. She was wonderful. I was looking forward to seeing her in the new Hulu sitcom with Nathan Lane "Mid-Century Modern". May she rest in peace and know that she brought much happiness to so many people.
I saw her in the Allergist's Wife too. Not the greatest play ever written, but Lavin knew how to make even the lamest lines land. She was a brilliant comic.
Linda Lavin was such a bright light! Her brightness will glow forever! She will be missed... Rest In Heaven Linda 🙏🏼✨️🕊💐❤💐🕊✨️🙏🏼 Thank you MO..for this interview! It was fabulous! 🎉🎈🎉
I have loved the beautiful Linda Lavin since my childhood via the show "Alice" with Vic Tayback. I am so privileged to have grown up in this idyllic period of time. Rest in peace Beautiful. You are loved and will be missed ❤💔
I always liked Linda on TV and met her once after a concert. I spoke with her and she couldn't have been nicer and more personable. Rest in peace sweet lady...
It hit me like a ton of bricks when I heard of Linda Lavin's passing. Her classic television show, "Alice," was a part of my childhood. It was one of those shows my parents allowed me to watch as a kid. And it has remained one of my all-time favorites. RIP Linda Lavin.🕊
I didn’t know much about her career before “Alice”; but I rarely missed her tv show throughout its run. I would try to sing along with the theme song, hoping no one was listening to me croak out the melody while she sailed effortlessly through it. I loved the 🎼 “bu buh buh buh bu” 🎶 🎵 the most, too. My condolences to her friends & family.😢
Came here to remember her. Grew up with that Alice TV Show as a boy till graduated HS in 85'. Knew of her singing background and really appreciate her voice more now than I did then. Loved the Last question about which ending she preferred. I too love the "bump, bump, bump, bump, bum....."
Growing up in late 70's into early 80's the local station in Atlanta ran "Alice" reruns every morning Monday through Friday that theme song stuck in my head for years. Rip Linda {Alice} thanks for childhood memories .❤️
Loved her in Alice, of course. She was also a memorable narrator of the documentary Living in Utopia, which is excellent (and mentions my home neighborhood of Co-op City). So multi-talented and definitely held her own with original Company star, Beth Howland! Thanks, Mo.
RIP ???, Sorry,...I didn't watch Alice, but I absolutely LOVE Linda in Barney Miller,...she brought something to the table, as did all of the cast and character actors in Barney Miller, but nobody brought as much as Linda,...my favorite episodes,...
She played a tough "cookie" female cop, in the TV show, Barney Miller, for a short while, too. RIP, dear Linda Lavin, she was wonderful in the sitcom Alice. ( wow, she just died, a couple of days ago)..Thanks for all the laughs.
She played a clueless nurse in The Muppets Take Manhattan (she didn't realize Kermit was a Muppet). It's now been 40 years since Alice ended. CNN covered the final taping of the show (such a sad day for them all).
I loved that show, they were all great. She was terrific in it. There was something special about it. We fans become attached to these stars and they become like family. Thank you Sunday Morning for this retrospective of Linda's career. Rest In Peace Linda
A passionate lady who stuck up for herself on her own show. Dianne Ladd and Polly holiday dint get along but both bunted heads with the star of the show, not a bright thing to do . Saw her in Hollywood arms- Carol and cari Burnett broadway show. Linda gave a harrowing performance . Moved me greatly.
What a delightful interview. And I'm with Linda on the preferred ending to "There's a New Girl in Town." She was always excellent, even if the material was only meh; Ms. Lavin will be missed. RIP.
R.I.P….I remember watching the t.v. show “Alice” when I was a little kid, I loved it. Especially Flo, “kiss my grits!” However, I don’t remember her from anything else.
RIP Linda Lavin! You are and were tv royalty in my eyes and opinion! Now go and sing with all your idols and with Gershwin. I'm watching some old "Alice" episodes and you make me laugh so thank you for that Ms Lavin....
I grew up watching Alice. I warched it with my mom, who also passed in 2024. Thank you, Linda Lavin for so many years of great entertainment.❤
Me too! I loved Linda and that whole cast. Funny note is I watched the show more with my father. We used to laugh so hard at the comedic moments. Such sweet memories for me.
Hard to believe they are nearly all gone now.
Rest in peace to Ms Linda Lavin and to your Mom. 2024 was really rough. Lost my Dad. I hope you are doing okay.
This was always one of my favorite interviews of Mo's. And I'm so glad he asked her about her preference on the ending of the theme song.
RIP Linda. You were great.

POLLY HOLIDAY IS VERY MUCH ALIVE.
As are Diane Ladd and Celia Weston.
I love Linda Lavin. She's amazing!!❤
Rest in peace, sweet Linda.
I first became aware of this amazing actress from her appearances on Barney Miller. Then she blew me away with her performance on Alice.
Omg, Barney Miller…YES! I forgot about that 🙌🏽🙌🏽
I'm so glad you mentioned her on this show! I also took a notice of her talent as Det. Janice Wentworth. They were really fun episodes - IMDb says there was only 5 episodes. Loved that she got the part as Alice.

Detective Janice Wentworth paved the way for every female cop thereafter, especially when she yelled into her purse.

Saw her in Hollywood arms- Carol and cari Burnett broadway show. Linda gave a harrowing performance . Moved me greatly.
RIP. Watched Alice in the 80's in syndication. Talented and Gorgeous all her days❤

So sweet.
RIP Linda. 😢
Polly Holliday (Flo) is now the last living cast member of Alice.
RIP Linda thx for the laughs 😢
I know the Alice theme song by heart let us all sing it in remembrance. Early to bed early to rise. RIP
Beautiful!!!
RIP Linda Lavin! You are and were tv royalty in my eyes and opinion! Now go and sing with all your idols and with Gershwin. I'm watching some old "Alice" episodes and you make me laugh so thank you for that Ms Lavin....
Rest in peace
I Love Her......
🎉🎉🎉🎉
I preferred the "Alice" program with Polly Holiday as Flo. After she left the show "Alice" went down the tubes.
It went 5 more years, and it must've been something right 9 years, though that's way better than some shows on tv today
@@mixon270 No. Just 5 years. No Emmy nominations or wins. It limped a long a lot like "Blue bloods" did for a lot longer. No great but people watched.
Would love to hear from Polly Holliday
I've always believed Linda was jealous of Polly Holiday popularity on the show.
I had the hots for Alice.
😇
Ri.h Mrs Lavin
"There's a new girl in town and she's looking good...."
I liked Linda Latin!!
She did not have a great voice at all but she was a good actress.God rest her.❤️🙏🏻
Loved her singing on the theme song
Why are you 40 feet apart?
I understand this interview was held at the beginning of the pandemic. So that's why.
