  • I replaced the AC expansion valve on a 2009 Toyota Camry, AC was warm, this fixed it. Air freon mixing wasn't happening. This applies to other years, 2007-8-9-10-11-12 and possible others. The Nissan Altima uses the same set up.

    This worked on a 2011 Scion TC we actually took all the dashboard until we saw this video... you don’t have to do none of that lol thank you so much for the video very informative!

    I was looking on alldata. They don't give instructions for just the expansion valve, and it sure looked like the only way was to take apart that entire dash, which they rate as an 8.8 hour job, which means it would take me at least 12. But the more I looked at it, the more I thought this has to be accessible from the firewall. Thank you for confirming that!

    Great! This is exactly what my 2010 Toyota Camry LE 2.5L has. It's a pain in that it is way inside on the firewall, but it is easily accessible.

    So those two screws are what secure it to the evap core? I have an 05 Camry so would it be the same as this?

    • @billmckinzie
      @billmckinzie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. This attached the expansion valve to the core. You can see the inside connection ports at 2:03. Change the orings here, oil them, and an place the new expansion valve on them. The 2 4mm hex bolts will tighten the expansion valve onto the core.

    I’ve replaced my expansion valve 2 times on ‘03 Camry and i still get a small leak. I followed steps carefully. Maybe I need to the mounting bolts more?

    • @Wedoitalltohelp
      @Wedoitalltohelp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you sure the leak is coming from the expansion valve? If did this steps, you shouldn't have leaks. Make sure to replace those little rubber washers on all tips if any. You might need to get a leak detector, to see where is the leak coming from. Sometimes it could be as simple as one of the things where you put the freon that could be leaking. Put some water with soap there and see if it bubbles.

      Is it charged with freon? Is the compressor cloth working?

    • @tcaldwell1782
      @tcaldwell1782 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it is cooling while driving but blows fan air when idling then check your AC cooling fan. The orifice tube/expansion valve if partly clogged will likely only reduce the coolness of your AC but if it is completely blocked you will likely only feel warm air out of your AC or in my case it blew cold for up to 5 minutes then it would only blow fan air. It caused my evaporator core to get a leak and needed replaced also.

    • @teravolt6113
      @teravolt6113 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tcaldwell1782 Most likely you had severe moisture contamination and after the 5 minute mark the tiny TXV orifice just plugged up with ice. The same moisture that ended up eating your evaporator from within.
