Great hack! And if you then cover it with Clear as Day strips or just put a clear, liquid top coat of polish on, you can't tell at all and it will lengthen the life of this manicure!
I’ve spliced in a thin piece in the side before, even on solids, you have to look for it to see it

I haven't tried this with solids but I agree with you it probably would look more obvious. However you could add nail art over it such as stickers or stamping to cover the visable lines. :)
Or an overlay strip!
May I ask why you are putting the side strips on? Would the effectiveness or result not be the same if you would select a slightly larger strip? If the larger strip is too wide I personally remove the overlap with the provided wooden cuticle stick.
This is when I already used up the larger strips but my polygel extension popped off. I wanted to cover up my natural nail underneath with a strip and still had small strips left over. I wanted to show people another option on how to use strips that are too small to cover the whole nail.
She explained why in the video. 😉
