I'm not even a big sportsbike guy but something about that 90s era, the simplicity of design and yet such recognisable silhouettes, is really appealing.
Some of my dads 90’s bikes were awsome wish I had them now , RGV 250, ZXR 400, GSXR1100 he also had an R1, sp1, loads of mx bikes wish he was still here we had some great times riding and tinkering
@@joski9030 Same here mate. My dad didn't have any bikes in the overlap between my birth and his death, but previously he had all sorts of interesting stuff before then which I'd love to track down and find if only I had more info. Highlights include a very sketchy Dnepr sidecar rig, with the car still on the wrong side, and a Triumph Bonneville.
Totally agree, amazing bikes. I had a VFR 400 and all I can think of is having a go on an RC45 750! I bet it’s so similar in character but with a chunk more power!!
It’s crazy watching videos of 80’s and 90’s Japanese bikes still on the road over there in Europe. Here in the US I don’t those bikes are appreciated enough or have the same following. I have a 87 FZR1000 and it’s like hens teeth to find parts for it, yet I click on TH-cam and I see a bloke over there restoring and keeping them on the road.
I slipped a water cooled 1100 into my 750wp .......it's was just awesome. All of what you say in the vid but with a bit more power. Sadly few years ago now, and times move on. Loads happy memories tho 🏍️
Great stuff, finding a standard unmolested example is a rare thing indeed. It took the SRAD to get the weight back to be where it should be. I'd be wary of using a pressure washer on a motorcycle, they can play havoc with seals and electrics. Years ago my mate damaged his dream machine paint work using one.
You're absolutely right, but it all depends on the distance holding the nozzle. I never clean the bike with water these days, don't have the time. Mostly using microfiber and wax spray
Great vid thanks, i run a GSXR 750 L4 and watching your video made me understand how the bikes of that generation were. You done a really good job fixing the bike up and what a great colour.🙂
Great video and great job done with it 👌 In 1997 i almost bought one coming from a 125cc after passing my test but ended up with Kawasaki ZXR750 L1 but still love that Suzuki 👌
Deffo 93 wp it came with a banana type swing arm and four pot callipers Your right about being an import too I worked for a dealership in the 90s that brought them in to the uk so had lots of dealings with them and the 1100
Curiously, the GSXR750 wasn't the first water cooled inline four to come to the US. The Suzuki Bandit 400 came to the US a year earlier and was Suzuki's first water cooled i4. The GT750 "water buffalo" was a triple. However, I do believe the gsxr750 and GSF400 were released elsewhere around the world a year previously at the same time.
Beautiful looking bike, I'm guessing you changed the tyres before your ride,, the only other suzuki I lusted after was the rgv 250,, the aprilia rs250 ,,especially in max biaggi colours,, and the suzuki in lucky strike colours or pepsi colours, they also looked beautiful In standard colours,, and let's not forget the kawasaki kr1s 250..all lovely bikes..
My fav, maybe the heaviest of them all including the non ideal weight to power ratio but it's the last slingshot oil cooled gsxr 750 and it has newer headlights but older bodywork,my fav did I said haha
If it's hesitating and feels wooly at low revs then the emulsion tubes are likely worn. The needle rattles about and wears them over time. I had a WP and changing them fixed it.
My mate had one of these in Black & silver lovely bike but a bit of a stretch for me when I sat on it, still a lovely bike though I need to know where you find these barn finds lol.
I just bought one, just like that! I've never felt like such a kid, with none of the bikes I've previously owned. And I've had quite a few top of the line 600, 750 and 1000s. I almost pulled the trigger on the new ZX10, but that thing would have chewed through my budget and mess my priorities. So I started to look for something retro. This thing is Cyberpunk, Akira cool. And that engine screams like an F1 car with the proper exhaust. 1100 is not that candy to the ears and it's not that purple. This thing is surreal, I love how the design and color aged to be such a piece of art. And about that sound: th-cam.com/video/QKw3gCBuEY0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0S-8VrzHm_YXknEv
@@TheGazza636 thanks 👍 I think this might actually be a 1992. It’s an import but there was some confusion on the actual year. Not sure if they did the purple in 1992 🤷♂️
Great video bro 😎 she’s a real beauty ❤ very very clean 🧼 we definitely definitely need to meet up as you are only round the corner from me 🎉🎉. Keep up the good content.
Well...Kawasaki won the 93 superbike world championship with Scott Russel. Not Ducati and the Ducati shot with Fogerty was a 916 that did not come out until a year later, 94. People who make videos and state facts should , I don't know, maybe get the facts right!

Thats seriously clean and genuine, definitely collector's item
I’m really getting the itch to own a 90’s sports bike after watching your videos!
Better get on eBay then 😎
I love how you have the speedometer blacked out. Brilliant!
I raced that exact bike same color.. Won a bunch on it. Great find
No way! Thanks for sharing
She's a looker ❤ I bought the 1100 of that year, a big old thing, but it was a quick. Love 80s and 90s bikes !
My busa is very happy that you salvaged that beauty.

I think the srad is a design failure when compared to these older gsxrs, I'm steadfast old school when it comes to the cradle frames.

Completely agree! Stunning bike isn’t it. Will be up for sale soon!
Carb knowledge is waning, thanks for this!
1992 was the first year for the water cooled gsx-r750.
1991-1992 are both oil cooled. So yeah ok. You're dumb?
Yes here in Sweden as well, but in US they launch it 1993 because it was more expensive than the air cooled one. I dont know in GB, maybe the same.
Great to see you saving this beast. I own one and will never sell it
Stunning bike, especially for its age 🎉
Couldn't agree more!

I actually didn't to be fair, wasn't riding to fast I took it pretty easy. Got a new set on the way though as these have seen better days!
Nice video mate. Need to Check your sound though! Thanks! Keep it up!
I might dig mine out and get a mot on it this year after watching this, same colour but yellow wheels.
Great to see you back. Cracking video.
Many thanks!
I used to own a Gsxr 750wn, i have now sold the wn and just purchased a Gsxr750m in almost original oem condition. Long live the oil boiler's 🛢.

Excellent review, I had the same bike new in 1993, its not a new 1000 but it certainly has character ...
Tons of character! I reckon even more if it had an exhaust on it, that would really liven it up!
Amazing machine.. well done James.
Many thanks!
You're right on the numbers. It just wasnt the 916. It was the 888

Friends of friends of friends!!!
i had one in that colour new from fowlers in bristol in 93
Awesome!
My 1988 GSXR 750J doesn't have the slow speed fueling issue, not sure why yours is that way??
Who knows! Adds to the character 🤣
The lengend started with air/oil and they didn't over heat slabby best
The model before this bike was the first model that got water cooling, the WN. the model before the WN was the M, that was the last to be oil cooled.
Yes here in Sweden as well, but in US they launch it 1993 because it was more expensive than the air cooled one. I dont know in GB, maybe the same.
I had an 1100 wp was a bus but seriously rapid
I think it looks nice ,suit's the bike
1992 gsxr750wn was first water cooled 750
Pretty much the same bike though isn’t it.
@@jamescrawshaw71 no the 93 had a few internal changes to strengthen. But yeah chassis and swingarm as the same
@@grantwoolhouse862593 wp model had the banana swingarm

92 wn. 91 m. 90 L 89k model etc
Sport bikes were king in the 90s. Everything else was meh.
06:05 "It's not gonna be like a modern bike"
Thank god, modern bikes are s-it😂 full of restrictions. I hate it.
This 1986 GSXR was the first of the water cooled GSX-R750's. 7-years before this bike. Sorry.
Nope. They where oil cooled.
Unfortunately you are incorrect.
I have a 1990 750L. No idea how I haven't seized it as it doesn't have a drop of water round the engine 🤷♂️.
Great video bro 😎 she’s a real beauty ❤ very very clean 🧼 we definitely definitely need to meet up as you are only round the corner from me 🎉🎉. Keep up the good content.
The water-cooled 750's were fat pigs compared to the oil boiler 750. Suzuki totally dropped the ball with that generation.

Ducati won 19 races out of 26, what facts have I got wrong there mate??
Acupuncture needles are good for jet cleaning
Oh good idea!! 👍
Even Stevie Wonder disapproves of that colour scheme, though.
The 90"s did see some grotesque colour schemes on bikes amongst the odd decent one.
Mate the purple is awesome! Can’t agree with that!
@jamescrawshaw71 Still a cracking bike though. I still prefer the older stuff to the "My 3 year old designed this with a broken crayon" new stuff.
