    Although using found embroidery can give amazing results, you could also make your own piece of embroidery. Here I teach you how to use Iron-on Transfers, Stem Stitch and Lazy Daisy Stitch: th-cam.com/video/o7jYAhj1vxI/w-d-xo.html

    I inherited two shoeboxes of antique lace when I was only 12. That put me on a path I never would have guessed I’d be on. I learned bobbin lace and lace knitting as an adult, and I’ve collected pieces of lace found in thrift stores over the years, just because I love to look at them and imagine the lives of the artists who made them. And now, watching your video, I see how I can use these gorgeous bits of lace. Thank you!

    A wonderful project and a delightful sharing of your approach. I’m a confirmed hand stitcher but your approach is equally applicable to hand sewing. Cheers, Christine

    Just beautiful. I see so many old pieces at thrift stores. This has inspired me to give it a try. Also, when I visited England, I found a few pieces of Nottingham lace. We visited the Nottingham lace area where it was made. This gives me an idea for a great keepsake to make with it. Thank you.

    Thank you for your reply, I would like to make a suggestion for a follow up video where you show us how to attach the finished piece to the canvas. I am thinking you may have laced it ?. When you are working out the measurements required you would need to add on extra width and height to allow for folding to the back. That is what I thought I might do but getting smooth neat corners is always difficult.

    I have a vision in my mind of a large queen sized quilt made in this manor and have been collecting pieces and lace all my life for it. Thank you so much for sharing some ways of the construction that look far more doable than the ideas I've had in my mind. Maybe it's time to begin!

      That's awesome, I made a strippy quilt with three of the strips made using this method a couple of years ago. I'm hoping to do a deep dive video into designing quilts featuring it in a month or so. Good luck with your quilt project.

    Absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this art work with us. I work in a charity shop in NZ and I try to rescue Vintage linen that is unsaleabe so this is definitely going to be a project for me. I use a product called Retro Clean, it is especially for vintage linens that are stained or browned and the results are really quite amazing. It comes from America but I buy mine through a craft shop here and for anyone who loves vintage linens and fabric it is well worth the cost, it is not as cheap as a supermarket soaker but it is certainly superior by far.

    • @eleanorbirchellhughes
      @eleanorbirchellhughes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's great to hear that others rescue vintage textiles too! Thanks for the information about Retro Clean I'm going to find out if it's available in the UK. Good luck with future projects.☺️

    Did you turn under the edges of the fabric pieces when you sewed them down with your sewing machine?

    • @eleanorbirchellhughes
      @eleanorbirchellhughes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Allie, I'm reviewing older videos, so in answer to your question, no I don't turn under edges, I overlap them slightly and then cover them with lace or ribbon.
