I have quite a few embroidered tablecloths made by my great aunts, my grandmother, mother and myself . They have been sitting in a drawer for years. Now do I have the nerve to cut into them and make something similar to that fabulous blouse???? Not sure but your end product of that beautiful blouse is shouting go for it.
I understand the tablecloths made by family members have a different level of value! Maybe you could try with fabric that doesn't hold that same value and the see if that changes your mind 😊 sometimes it is special to keep precious items in their original state too. Tough decision!
I am so in love with the embroidery placement! It turned out beautifully. I especially like that you switched the facing to embroidery as well. I bet the original embroiderer would be so happy that their art lives on
I don’t believe that I’ve seen a more beautiful blouse. I love how you’ve been incredibly creative making this, and giving new life and purpose to an obsolete item.
Thank you so much! That is what I love the most about this blouse is that I could give a new life to these stunning tablecloths! I really enjoy wearing this one 😊
So very pretty and I would rather see them displayed as a blouse, for everyone to enjoy. Imagine all the stories and history they have in them! Great job! Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you so much for your comment! I am so happy that I have had the chance to reuse the tables cloths and create something new and beautiful with them too.
Thank you so much For your comment Trudy. It really is wonderful to use something that may be discarded as it is not longer pristine and give it a new life 😊
Thank you so much. It was lots of fun to make. Especially when thinking about the placement of the embroidery. I am sure you will love making one too 😊
Inspirational! I can see these popping up from Lands End to John ‘o Groats - why have I given so many to jumble sales over the years! Thank you for your vlog.
That is so beautiful! It will look great as a summer jacket, over a little cami and shorts. So versatile and can be styled in lots of ways, so much more useful in our modern life than as tablecloths! That is truly the spirit of upcyling. Such an inspiring video, thank you so much!
Thank you so much for you lovely comment. I am so pleased with how this shirt turned out. I love wearing it and you are right, it is so wonderful to show case the beautiful embroidery that someone has put so much effort and time into.
Wow, what a great upcycling project! The embroidery on those tablecloths is stunning and I love how you’ve placed the pattern pieces to make the most out of it. Absolutely gorgeous ❤
Wow Amelia what a wonderful make It makes me feel quite emotional to think how much work has gone into the embroidery. As sewists we can appreciate the hours this must have taken and it’s so heartwarming to see it repurposed in such a lovely way. I don’t have your skills yet but I think something like an Ogden cami may be doable. Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring us. X
Oh yes the Ogden cami would look beautiful in embroidered tablecloths! Thank you so much for your kind words. You are right the embroidery is amazing! Such talent and the time and love in every stitch too ❤️
Amelia, what have you unleashed! I think I will now be obsessed finding antique table cloths. I have just finished a Donny shirt using a white linen oval scalloped edged tablecloth with embroidered olive branches bought on Mykonos in 2000. Not quite sure if any pattern pieces have the same grain, and I have a fat black olive you know where! Still, I love it and can’t wait to wear it. Thank you for your inspiration.
Hi Amelia Ellen- I just found your channel, have subscribed and am enjoying it very much! I love how your blouse turned out-clever and unique! You are very talented. It was also fun to see your pics of your other interests in your previous video about biking and rock climbing. 🥰
Thank you so much for your kind comment Judy. I am so pleased you are enjoying the channel, I am pleased with how the shirt turned out too. Thanks for subscribing too much appreciated 😊
OMG , your shirt is beautiful, so inspired. I have just bought the pattern and did think it would be great for a day shirt. What a great piece of upcycling. Love it!
Thank you very much for your kind comment. I suppose I didn't show the construction as I didn't want the clip to be too long. But I will keep that in mind for the future 😊
Haya. Your shirt came out beautifully 🤩I like also to make things out of thrifted linen embroidered table cloths & other similar thing as well 🙂Thanku 'sew' much for sharing 🪡✂🧵🙂
Oh wow, that is great that you make upcycled clothing too. I love the linen and how something like a tablecloth that might be discarded can be given a new life.
@@ameliaellensews Yup, I have been using bed sheets, table cloths, drapes (a Von Trapp in the making 🤣) scraps, pretty much anything for many years, it is always fun to create from things other than fabric on a roll. . . on a roll 🤣🤣Have a great week 🪡✂
I have just discovered your channel today and watched all the videos! You are doing a great job :) What a beautiful blouse, it is so cleverly done and such an excellent upcycle of what I'm sure were lovingly made pieces. May I ask where the wallpaper in the room you usually film in comes from? It's gorgeous!

I’d love to know what sewing machine you use please? 🙏
Oh amazing! I think that collecting and finding the linen is the most fun part! Enjoy making your lovely top 😊
