I'm not good on the lore as far as WoW is concerned, but in Reign of Chaos, Arthas turned her into a banshee just for the hell of it. There was no clear motive. I've replayed RoC and TFT campaigns lately and I understand a few more things clearly. Some annoying elf girl gave him trouble and he chose to never give her the peace of death as punishment. Simple as. During the undead campaign, Arthas was just straight up evil, pure and simple. It's just one of the wicked things he did during that campaign, and there were so many. Then they decided to build on her character in TFT, making her a full-fledged hero character, a vengeful hateful personality, and it worked. Was that their plan with her in the beginning? Who knows... After all that's what he did with Arthas. He saw someone with potential and turned him to his side. I find it incredibly cruel that it seems part of the cosmic plan to have had the tree burn in the first place. Elune had willed it. When you also consider she wasn’t whole when she committed these actions, her soul split and the essence of her humanity locked away…it just seems like bad writing to fridge her in the maw like this. I don’t think it was explored enough how nuanced this storyline should have been, they played with it by admitting the gods had a hand it alongside other things, however, they then flipped back to black and white punishment for a character that is more nuanced. It makes Tyrande also look like a fool, clinging to her hatred.
The thing is you need to see it from the perspective of a god, us as mortals can find it cruel all we wish. But when it comes to god or godlike entities we are nothing more than pawns in their grand game.
u know... I actually really love this arc. It came out better than expected in the end, and it shows that Tyrande is actually powerful and wise enough to choose forgiveness instead of revenge. The way she got through the anger she felt because she cares about her people so much... it's a good development for Tyrande. about Elune... She couldn't really save the night elves from the tragedy that struck them. The best thing she could do at the moment was lay them to sleep so they didn't suffer the burns, and send them to ardenweald so they could reincarnate, and also help the Winter Queen. She didn't know they would be sent to the Maw... She even cried knowing she actually condemned them. All of this, though, could have been presented and explained in a better way, I gotta admit. It does feel a little all over the place when everything feels so... vague. But, using my imagination, I feel like I could enjoy this story in my own way, and in my own headcanon xD. I also wish they explained wth it was that the Jailer told Sylvanas. Wtf did he mean by true freedom?
I'm not a WoW player, but I get the impression that most of the broad strokes of BFA-to-Shadowlands (incl. some Legion, and whatever is coming in Dragonwhatever) is stuff that might make enough sense in the planning stage, but doesn't get the in-game portrayal and reasoning that players can buy into it. Its just sensation after sensation that appears nonsensical. The characters' in writers' minds not matching what players either internally imagined (right or wrong) or actually experience exclusively in-game (and not uh, a novel, or audio play, or developer video interview). There is the sense that WoW only plans for the next year or two of swiftly changing patches/expansion, not really for the longer arcs (3-4 or more years) that they attempt to write for. Maybe they're wrong, but more and more fans find the novel releases to be a crutch to attempt to make up for weaknesses of the actual game's storytelling. That's a shame, especially as the novels can and will be up for being retconned anyway.

In the last page there is a bit about her hearing the sound of familiar metal armor that brought her hope that she's never felt in a long time. It never explains what that sound is, but I'm assuming Nathanos?
Ok i get that sylvanas is accepting her fate because of what her fractured self did but how could tyrande not realize that shes no longer the banshee queen? She turned into the ranger general the moment her soul became whole again, did tyrande even notice that her eyes were now blue instead of red now? I know you're pissed but jesus i expected her to at least understand that shes talking to an entirely different person now
You didn't understand that. She's not the ranger general. She can see her deeds from the perspective of the old herself but the choices was always hers. Think about this ranger general in cinematic as a "snapshot" of her soul.

I still remember Teldrassil burning and Tyrande saving her useless Malf and escapes, leaving her people behind. XD And Velen, who is nearby and does nothing.
There are draenei evacuating people through portals, but they are few, and Velen was in Stormwind, not in the Exodar. In addition it is not officially he who directs, but the council of the exarchs
Even for a game, that whole attack was dumb on so many lvls. But WOW storyline went to shit from TBC, so nothing new there. Bunch of useless "champions" on both sides.
1. Nope. Calia had a Husband and a child, both of whom she lost sight of and wants to find again. I don´t see her hooking up with Derek before knowing if her family lives, eventhough he seems willing. 2. I think they are setting her up to lead some kind of "Alliance Forsaken". Lillian talks about helping those who died, but never mentioned that she wishes Calia to lead them. The first ones that "need help" seen are, suspiciously enough, dead elves (night and blood/high). So I think they are giving us the "next" race by making it possible to have different types of forsaken (alliance or horde and possibly all races undead or just elves for now). Pretty sure its just elves and eventhough it seems stupid to me, I guess they will finally give us the Ranger Class (Standard and Dark).
I'm so curious is there no being that could make sylvannas completely ressurected as living ? Instead of undead ? Could Elune or Azeroth hold so much power ?
I think the title of the video is misleading. It is really a Tyrande story or boring alliance stuff. The Alliance always gets to be evil when it is convenient in the story, but never suffers the consequences of their actions or inactions.

@@MOo8996cz I don't think so. No soul goes directly to the maw iirc, so she would go to revendreth. If she could find redemption there for her crimes, she wouldn't go to the maw. I might be misremembering, but I think from Revendreth you could ascend to the other covenants as well, no? Meaning that she could technically join any of them. This is why Uther throwing Arthas into the Maw was seen as something so bad, because there was a chance of redemption, and Uther couldn't handle it.
@@Smithington_ So, by that logic, Sylvanas going into the Maw despite Tyrande's orders means Sylvanas won't be redeemed and Tyrande essentially just sent Sylvanas on a suicide mission masked as "redemption" Say what you will, but the Alliance really is just as cruel as the Horde is.
We understood that Danuser was not going to kill his favorite character He bluntly turned the game's story around so it could have redemption. And in the lot, he was even able to burn Teldrassil for no good reason since it just didn't bring anything concrete to the story and we're not going to hear about it anymore. :)
Whenever I see comments of people saying the characters/plot were not well written and give no explanation why they have that opinion, I cant help but think "yeah, I want to see you do better, write a book and let us judge."
They also don't factor in the inner turmoil at blizzard during this expansion and its still going on. Crunched and stressed employees don't produce the work audiences want. Even with my issues with decisions made, this expansion helped me through a lot of mental health stuff.
Because all undead went to the maw by default. They never got a chance at being selected by the arbiter for an afterlife. Not even for maldraxxus or revendreth where redemption was possible, or if they were turned undead against their will. They literally got screwed to purgatory over something that wasn't their fault
@@PandaMonium92827 That's a false assumption. Arthas' soul wasn't going straight for the Maw. Uther threw him there. Kel'Thuzad's soul wasn't going to the Maw either. He was assigned to Maldraxxus. Same with Alexandros Mograine.

@@SwobyJ you're totally right, the portrayal of the stoy in the game and what the writers probably imagined, i think are 2 whole different things :(
Sylvanas is the best character in Warcraft ever
She's had the most badass cinematics I've ever seen for sure, though the entire Jailer arc is a BS and a flop.
I hope Sylvanas at least finds her little pogchamp Nathanos in the maw, so they can go on their wacky, completely filled with darkness adventures.
"It was all for nothing."- Pretty much every major character in WoW.. i cant believe that Tyrande still has faith toward Elune.

You have no idea how long I wanted to see Tyrande and Sylvanas fight.
Sylvanas would eat her alive

No word where Nathanos soul went after he was killed.
Hopefully the trashcan with Steve Danuser's career.
At the end of the new book after she goes into the Maw to rescue the souls, she plans to search for his soul in there as well. In the last page there is a bit about her hearing the sound of familiar metal armor that brought her hope that she's never felt in a long time. It never explains what that sound is, but I'm assuming Nathanos?
“Night warrior. I expected more.”
Why the hell does the way Sylvanas looks when saying this turn me on?
Shes.... undead..... she's DEAD AND DOES...NOT..BATHE...
Man you people ruin everything.
Because she's an idealized female with a competent voice actor
Ok i get that sylvanas is accepting her fate because of what her fractured self did but how could tyrande not realize that shes no longer the banshee queen? She turned into the ranger general the moment her soul became whole again, did tyrande even notice that her eyes were now blue instead of red now? I know you're pissed but jesus i expected her to at least understand that shes talking to an entirely different person now
You didn't understand that. She's not the ranger general. She can see her deeds from the perspective of the old herself but the choices was always hers. Think about this ranger general in cinematic as a "snapshot" of her soul.
Its really a shame they utterly wasted Tyrande in this expansion and made Elune look like a callous dirt bag. I mean seriously, she kills 1 named Val'kyr, some random goons, and that's it.
The storyline of kardorei’s tragedy started high but end low. However it is still one of my favourite stories
How? There were just forgotten. Genocide for nothing. In reality we would have put the entire horde council that led such an event to the sword.
@@nugget7865 Why turning reality into wow universe? Life in shadowland is enteral and how it ends there matters more in wow universe. Anyway in our universe, aboriginals in America and Canada got genocide but did the US and Canada got put out by the world as you suggest? See if the world can do the same to Russia.
@@jaczhen The aboriginals had no allies. There were, after the fact. powerless to enforce their will. For Russia, we would not put them on trial because first, Ukraine is not an ally. Second, they are powerful. If they invaded Poland, and committed GENOCIDE, or even true genocide in Ukraine, we would've initiated world war three to burn turn Russia into rubble. As of now, we still hold Russia accountable. Not make pretend nothing happened and all is forgiven, as was the story for the night elves. It actually makes me sick, not figuratively, but makes my stomach churn to think that an entire civilian population was massacred and nothing came of it. We as Alliance players are supposed to "forgive", and horde players are supposed to be okay with being complicit in such a heinous act without being given a choice to say no. Horde leaders also just "followed orders". Even the post SL cutscene between Genn and Theron mentioned that. What do you think happened to war leaders in the Nuremburg trials for leaders of the Nazi regime? We hanged them all.
The way Sylvanas looked at her sisters before jumping in the Maw... 😭
That was really something that will stick with me

Just love Night Elves in general. The savage, alternative take on the overdone Elf cliche is just so well done with Night Elf lore, that wish Blizzard would focus more on them. They really have a great potential to be figureheads of the franchise as one of their more iconic creations.
@@Athelarius Too bad they always get fucked over by the writers.
@@Athelarius I just wish Blizzard would do better with the night elves. They're a > 10,000-year-old race with some of the most powerful and long-lasting leadership, after the Draenei, but they're always treated like hot garbage in the story so humans or orcs can shine.
The night elves SHOULD be great. I love their aesthetic and their history, but Blizzard always does them dirty.
I think misses Teapots (aka Tyrande) needs to take some deep breaths when she encounters Sylvanas in ardenweald. Plus, I think Sylvanas would like to keep her head, so I feel like it would be beneficial to all of them if Tyrande calmed down and DIDN'T take Sylvanas's head. Nope.
The ranger woman is starting to vex me greatly...

I'm so curious is there no being that could make sylvannas completely ressurected as living ? Instead of undead ? Could Elune or Azeroth hold so much power ?
Her plot armor is thicker than the world tree.
Can someone enlighten me since when does Tyrande look like as a Vampire? What are those k9s?
Elves have fangs. All elves. At the beginning elves were trolls, the tusks turned into fangs as they evolved toward elvenhood.

Yes but no.
did arthas also killed his father people and mentor and destroyed his kingdom.
when he was corrupted by frostmourne.
I think the title of the video is misleading. It is really a Tyrande story or boring alliance stuff. The Alliance always gets to be evil when it is convenient in the story, but never suffers the consequences of their actions or inactions.

The only tragedy with Tyrande is the lore writters.
It sure would be nice if your title and the content matched. You started at BFA? That's skipping 7 expansions and a couple games.
Tyrande had great character development. She went from trying to murder Sylvanas to finding redemption within her and sentencing Sylvanas.

the term "ALL" is used pretty loosely here.
In the end, Sylvanas got to technically live. Lol
That’s worse than death.
Considering she would undoubtedly go to the maw in death anyway, not really
@@MOo8996cz I don't think so. No soul goes directly to the maw iirc, so she would go to revendreth. If she could find redemption there for her crimes, she wouldn't go to the maw. I might be misremembering, but I think from Revendreth you could ascend to the other covenants as well, no? Meaning that she could technically join any of them. This is why Uther throwing Arthas into the Maw was seen as something so bad, because there was a chance of redemption, and Uther couldn't handle it.
@@Smithington_ So, by that logic, Sylvanas going into the Maw despite Tyrande's orders means Sylvanas won't be redeemed and Tyrande essentially just sent Sylvanas on a suicide mission masked as "redemption"
Say what you will, but the Alliance really is just as cruel as the Horde is.
We understood that Danuser was not going to kill his favorite character
He bluntly turned the game's story around so it could have redemption.
And in the lot, he was even able to burn Teldrassil for no good reason since it just didn't bring anything concrete to the story and we're not going to hear about it anymore. :)

Even with my issues with decisions made, this expansion helped me through a lot of mental health stuff.
If being undead is so bad and they cannot "undo" it, why not just walk into a fire and end it?
Because all undead went to the maw by default. They never got a chance at being selected by the arbiter for an afterlife. Not even for maldraxxus or revendreth where redemption was possible, or if they were turned undead against their will. They literally got screwed to purgatory over something that wasn't their fault
@@PandaMonium92827 That's a false assumption. Arthas' soul wasn't going straight for the Maw. Uther threw him there. Kel'Thuzad's soul wasn't going to the Maw either. He was assigned to Maldraxxus. Same with Alexandros Mograine.
