The compass bezel needs to rotate in order for the user to follow a specific azimuth. For instance if you rotate the bezel with 120 degrees at the top (12 o'clock) position, rotate your body until the north seeking arrow aligns with the North indicator "N" on the bezel. An azimuth of 120 degrees is straight ahead to your front.
I had the cream face witch silver and brown strap, I lost it a few years ago. Today, to refresh my memory or the functions I had delivered it in black! I'm over the moon! It's very fitting of my lifestyle! I spent weeks looking for a watch. And all I had in mine was this black one. And I went for black just incase my original showed up! Maybe. Maybe not
I like the moving bezel and use it as a chronograph. Now in 2023 it moves well. Functions once tuned, work well. Other finish short-falls the author mentions, have been improved.
Obviously you have never went orienteering. The reason the bezel moves is so you can align the north indicator with the red hand when it is pointing north. As long as both indicator and hand are lined up you will always know which way you are traveling. Pretty basic stuff.
I've seen this watch in different colors and different prices. I like this black one better but I won't spend $200 on it when I can buy Orient Kamasu Red dial for almost the same price. Great review.
You need the compass bezel to rotate to actually use it properly. My understanding. Is you like the hour hand up with the sun and rotate the bezel so that south is between the hour hand and 12oclock.
Can't argue with you there, I've honestly never used a compass. I live in NJ where you're always 31 inches away from a highway LOL. I ASSumed that the bezel on a compass shouldn't move being that you always want to know where North is - shows you what I know about manual navigating lol. Thanks for the info!
wow, excellent review, thanks seconds hand not landing on the marks makes me furious in every watch to the point i don't want to wear it.. what would you say the price bar is for the watch to do it as it should?
@@ShouldITimeThis Yeah that's what I meant, but having 6 ticks per second is a way around it. Since they take so much pride in watchmaking why can't they just make it work precisely with one tick per second. I've seen some old mechanical watches that were doing it correctly...
@@Zw1d There still are a few mechanical watches out there with dead beat seconds (1 tick per second) but they're very expensive. Basically you have to choose: perfect accuracy but sloppy second hands and dead batteries with quartz watches (most decent mechanical watches are close, but not dead on perfect), or a better looking mechanical movement that will run forever (almost - occasionally you might need a regulation or servicing) but at the sacrifice of needing to adjust the time once in a while. Personally I'd go mechanical all day. You have to LOOK at the watch all day - better to not have to look at a spring-y, sloppy, cheap-looking second hand that stops wherever it wants.
Great review! Im surprised that Timex built a watch with these attributes; ive seen them in other watches, but mostly in the G Shock higher end watches.
@@ShouldITimeThis Thanks much bro, I had purchased this online couple of days ago. And the funny perplexed part: the particular watch T2N720 is identical to your reviewing product and in rest of the youtube review channels the same model has a different design. May be timex has revamped the look of it.
I changes the watch’s battery and the compass didn’t work anymore when i press the button the compass keeps rotating and the watched keeps beeping for a few secs
@@mr.z6325 Hello! I took my watch to a watchmaker I have known for years, he told me that it is not the first time that he repairs a watch of these, opening the watch you will find a reset button and it is pressed together with the battery inserted, regardless of the watch you have to have a separate compass and on that compass point north and make the watch point his compass north too, after that you are going to remove the battery from the watch and insert it back into it and press the reset button again, then you have to turn the clock to the right about two times very slowly and verify that the clock compass continues to point north along with the independent compass that you have, after that you press the clock button that activates its compass and the task is finished, the compass of the watch works again as if it were all new and no more beeping for a few seconds anymore, i hope what the watchmaker did for me will serve you, a hug for you.
My second hand is stuck on 6 seconds....I've been informed my the so called watch doc...that it's a sealed unit .but it needs resetting...how may I do this?..a manual says it may be a battery compartment switch?.I'm not a watch guy I got this as a herritige brand for reliability..
Liked, great review! I've just ordered one. Typically, I prefer automatic movements, but the 3 complications on this Timex and it's aesthetic are useful and attractive. I am curious as to what the expected battery life will be, but I'm impressed overall.
Thanks! Much appreciated. Yeah if you have a use for the complications in this piece, it's perfect. I'm guessing that the battery life will be average (2-3 years) if you're not using the complications too frequently.
Yes you do want your bezel to move you want it to operate like any lymphatic compass where you shoot your Azimuth and then you turn your bezel to the north position and follow the needle in the bezel being in line to go whatever direction is you're needing to go like say if you're going to a tree that's West you shoot your ass in it that tree and then the compass is going to find north south east west you rotate the bezel on the watch so that it lines up with the north needle and then you just follow this point to your tree instead of trying to follow little itty bitty lines it's late I'm sorry it took sleeping medicine but I just wanted to try to clear that up to help people out
what are those white spots in the middle of the face of watch circle plate? it seems timex made pretty sloppy job....as far as quality control concerns.
I bought this watch 3 months ago and I did not check in detail the functions as I was bit rush on that time. After watched your video I just realised the Compass function is not working 😡🤬
Hi Man, my watch is working very well now. The Timex service centre fixed it less than 30 minutes, they said my watch was not calibrated to function the compass. Thanks to you too for the video 🙏🙏🙏
The Bezel needs to move to use the compass! You line up north with the red arrow to work out your exact direction in degrees! This guy obviously doesn’t know how to use a compass
The bezel IS SUPPOSED TO TURN for the compass function. My mistake. Carry on!
I was about to note that, but no worries. Great video!
@@sfpoet5885 Thanks!
Clueless
The reason the bezel moves is so you can use it while navigation when your hiking to be able to rotate the bezel really helps.
Yep. Got it. Made a mistake with that when I wrote the review. Afterwards I was like "duh" LOL.
lol, he had no idea
How often do you think we need to use a compass in NJ?
@@ShouldITimeThis that is true...

I've had this tide-temp-compass but mine is the expedition series. 10+ years and no issues. Got mine for $100

How do you use the moving bezel as a chronograph I am curious please explain
Just bought one, pretty cool watch, felt in love with it from the time I saw it, your review was helpful to comfort me after I bought it :D

Bom dia @danny2007h Relógio original Timex, é possível suar o vidro após ficar submerso na água por 30min?
I just bought the cream face/brown leather strap version for $86.29 on Amazon :)
Whoops I failed to read above my comment sorry bro it's a cool watch and I'm glad you and reviewing it cuz I like to own it

It would be really cool if that second hand lines up with the index

The bezel moves to aid on navigation helping you check your azimuth and allows you to course correct, it serves a purpose. Great video though!

Shame you can't see the tide indicator in the dark as the indiglo misses that dial. This is a feature I really need (night fishing).
Yeah that is a shame. Would definitely be useful for night fishing.
This is a 249 dollar watch now but still seems like one of the fewer watches with most of my needs. Especially the compass
Great review as always.

Do you feel the indiglo performs better on a black face dial, or will does the navy or tan have a better performance/view.
Not sure because I haven't used them all. But their indiglo function works well on just about any dial so it should all be pretty good.
