That's nice I was bet to buy Casio, I used to be a collector, but I liquidated my collection to venture into real estate. In January, I acquired homes in Malibu for $34 million, and the returns on investment far exceed what I earned as a collector.
How did you grow your portfolio to $34m, I'm impressed, I have a lump sum in the bank, the rates are not impressive so I'm moving it, whats your cash flow like?
I'm not a collector, but I received a Tissot PR100 for father's day about 8 years ago. Still love it and still get compliments on it. It's made me a Tissot fan.
you can. The case is to never buy them for retail prices, only on discounts. Seiko 5 is one of the cheapest automatics on the market, and for less than a 100$ it's a very good watch, but above this price it's not. Poorly made bracelets, easy to destroy plastic crystal, movement comparable to old soviet watches. But the price makes it cool to have few of them in your collection, when you don't want to have just one watch for every occasion. The real seiko starts from the presage series. Citizen's cheapest models also are "cheap" in terms of usage, you can feel that the materials aren't meant to last long. Especially the NJ0100 series. If you want to buy a citizen, look for radio controlled models, because that's something unusual.
@@kaka123150 I think the thing with the Seiko 5 is you've also got to think about what you're spending. If you are looking at divers, if can get another 70 dollars, you can get an Orient Kamasu, and get a sapphire crystal and slightly better bracelet
Thank you Teddy for being one of the most accessible channels for new watch enthusiasts. You are right. Many watch collectors want to treat the hobby like an exclusive club. They dismiss people, outright, if they have no interest or cannot afford brands above a certain price point. In an industry which is being disrupted and whose market share is being eroded by the emerging smart watch market, we cannot afford to be elitist. If history teaches us anything, an industry that is being rendered obsolete by technology can only survive if those who are part of that industry are more welcoming of newcomers.
Citizen Garrison/Chandler (green fabric strap) is my favourite watch. I challenge any watch to suffer how my Garrison did & survive. The watch was lost during a home re-hab project. Eventually gave up searching, moved on, bought a new Citizen eco-drive. After 1 year, to the week, raking around the garage, I found my missing watch! In a dirt pile for 12 months of rain and Wisconsin snow. I was so happy. Cleaned with a rag. Left in the sun for a day. Wearing it now, works perfect.
Hey Teddy. Brilliant video. So happy to see "entry" level watches getting some focus. So many YT watch channels have developed into Haute Horology Unobtanium (for most average enthusiasts) and just scare newcomers away. These kind of videos make you feel like you don't need to be a millionaire to enjoy the hobby and pick up some amazingly good value, quality watches in the process. Love the channel by the way. The 70 watch terms video was awsome too 👌
You really can't beat Orient. Got the Bambino 2nd gen and the kamasu and I'm overwhelmed with the quality of these watches. Looking for my next watch. Excited to see what it'll be!
Really nice video! I personally love Citizen and Orient watches, and I'd like to point out that Tissot and Hamilton are both from Swatch, so... I think a nice addition could be made to the list: Mido (again, Swatch group) has a really nice line up ranging from classic, elegant style watches to rugged divers, with nice movements and good quality materials!
I'm glad you've mentioned Seiko Citizen and Tissot, 3 watches I've owned but sold on because they didn't tell the time in the way I wanted. I was taken in by first glance but very hard to read the hands against the dial. I now have a Casio Edifice which ticks all the boxes!
I have been a “fangirl” my entire life, and no matter the fandom there are always gatekeepers, always people looking for fights, always people telling you that you don’t enjoy something correctly. My thinking will always be to ignore them! Read the books you like, watch the shows you love, and wear the watches you adore, enthusiastically!
T-Balls, I think many people would set the "entry level" bar a lot lower, like $300 and under. Maybe that's just me. My collection of 20 or so watches doesn't have anything over $300 in it. LOL. $1,000 is LUXURY / Grail for a lot of people
@@zenitram2895 also true, but not much you can do about this. Except experience with watches and learning what you like / don’t like. Some tastes change, but other more generic preferences do not.
Not untrue, but the "wisdom of the crowd" has merit. If you have no idea what you're doing, the well trodden path is a good bet. Plus, if you do end up regretting your decision, popular watches hold their value better and are easier to unload.
Glad to see you included Tissot :) Bought my first "proper" watch 12-13 years ago, a Tissot PRC100, granted, its not a mechanical watch, but its been with me thru thick and thin every day since up untill this year. The crown doesnt screw in properly, so its no longer watertight, and I need to get it serviced. But its a watch I dont think I could ever get rid of even if I ended up buying a something like a rolex or grand seiko
hey, same story here, I've bought mine in 2007 when I was 21 yo with an ocean blue dial, love the sporty and classy look of it, hopefully it will stay with me till the very end ;)! best regards, Alex
The fact that any man wears a non smart watch today when he has the time on his phone is a statement of effort. There shouldn't be any snobbery towards any watch.
I have a coworker who's a watch snob and gives me sh*t everytime I wear something like a Casio, a seiko or even Hamilton. Most people compliment or ask for info on the watches I wear. He has One Watch. A Hulk Rolex Sub which is funny cause everyone thinks it's fake. Whether it's a real watch or not is not where I'm getting at. I'm just saying, it's not worth being a snob when people are only questioning your watch negatively. I'm not hating on Rolex. Obviously they're great watches. I just laugh at the snobbery.
Out of all the “one watch collections” you could have, why pick the hulk? It’s probably the least versatile (bc of the color) and IMO it’s one of the ugly Rolexes
@@henrykemblowski5 Really? I actually think the Hulk is a beauty. I may be biased because I really love green dialed watches, but if I had the opportunity I would probably choose the hulk over say, a black submariner. Would I make it my "one" watch? Heck no! So I get what you're saying.
He's hating on Hamilton? Is he high? They make great watches. James Bond wears his submariner, and a khaki field would be what his American counterpart Felix Leiter would wear.
Seeing Orient climbing up the fame outside Japan is great. I don't know them prior to going to Japan and now I love them. Got the Mako III Diver, would love to get Bambino
I have one of their contemporary range models on bracelet and I love it. In terms of value for money it's very hard to beat. It looks great and keeps very accurate time. Orient watches look much more expensive than they are.
Dude....I have been interested in watches my whole life and just assumed to be a "collector", it meant you had to own watches that cost over 6-figures. I am in my advanced middle age and thanks to you and your channel two important things have happened - 1) I now know I have been a watch collector all my life but knew nothing about watches...which is still ok. I bought them because I like them. 2) Part of any "hobby" is the education and your channel as I have probably watched 50+ of your videos in the last two weeks I have learned so much about "movements", dials, origins and styles. Really exciting stuff. Lastly, your website is super easy to use and I am expecting my first watch delivery from your online store today and I am pretty pumped! At my age, I think watches might be more fun and less expensive than girlfriends. hahahahahah
I’m 68 years old. I have a hard time, believing that these watches ,that i saw for a very low price. Are any better today, than in the 60s and 70s. I have been a watch collector for many years , on and off. My old friend Peter Plains, got me started. Thanks Peter.
Thanks for putting this out there. And more people should address it with more than just "price point" or "value proposition " topics. For me, there's two types of snobs, price snobs and brand snobs. Brand snobs are those who believe anything without 100% "in house" movements and 300 years of continuous history etc. etc. Every brand starts somewhere, they forget that the entire swiss industry got started by making bootleg copies of the French and British clocks of the time
Haha, real talk. One of the guys on here said he has worn a watch for like 10 years and has only 2 people comment on it in real life. Pretty much mirrors my experience. Nobody cares about my watch but me.
I’m in kind of a weird situation when it comes to this. I always only buy things because I like them and usually don’t care about what others have to say. However, I just got my first professional job where I’ll be attending marketing meetings and giving presentations. I’m in my early twenties and I’m trying to save money, but I also don’t want to be subconsciously judged by possible investors or potential partners. So I’m trying to find watches I actually want and like, while also being respected enough to wear in a formal professional setting. This video was an awesome start to my research. Definitely considering a few of these. Thank you!
Casio duro with quality stainless aftermarket bracelet 👍 I work in surgery and have had a doctor comment how we were "matching" as he held up his Rolex submariner. I literally get compliments on that watch daily for a total of 100 bucks all in
Thanks for this video Teddy! I just recently got into watches, sold my Apple Watch and got an Orient Bambino 2nd gen and a Seiko SNK809, and I must say I am in love with both of them! This list gave me plenty of ideas for my next one, hopefully I will be able to get my hands on a Khaki Field Automatic soon! Keep up the good work man
I was so glad to see Vostok mentioned! Back in the early days of the Internet, I got really into Russian watches, not so much because they were great or anything, but because, in the West, they were unusual. So cool to have the Cyrillic writing on the case backs and on the dials of my Vostok, Poljot, and Kremlienskie watches. I think these were the first mechanical watches I ever owned, coming on nearly 20 years ago now, so I wasn't familiar with the idea that you had to wind them up every day, lol. Prior to that all my watches were of the $25 drugstore Armitron quartz variety.
All the watches I have except a handful of watches came from my wifes and my dad. Neither were watch people but to have a 1940s watch got me interested in collecting. I find your videos are shaping my convergence into what to buy in such a ridiculously crowded field.
Started watching your videos with Kevin O' Leary recently and I'm slowly becoming a huge fan. Thank you for being so informative and for sharing all of these awesome pieces with the world. Go Teddy!
You went straight to the heart of the everyday watch enthusiast. These timepieces are all standouts, in multiple dimensions. Any of these would make a great gift for anyone.
Im going to a wedding for the first time in years. Never worn a watch but I bought a new suit after getting in shape recently and I think a watch would compliment the entire look. Thanks for this video.
My Citizen eco drive stainless is the best watch I've seen. I can snorkel with it, wear it with a Dinner jacket. No winding winding or battery replacement. Keeps excellent time.
I had a minute long conversation with an older customer today where we both gushed over his Casio AE-1000W world timer. That $25 watch made both of our days. I should add that I also own an Amphibia and it's one of my absolute favorite mechanical devices period.
In my experience this is "anti-snobbery" snobbery. Many watch enthusiast pretend to like those low-price watches to look cool and tolerant. How much wrist time do they actually get? Very little.
My wife just got me a Seiko SRPD-71 for Christmas. Naturally, I picked it out. It’s my first ever automatic watch. I am hooked! I’m already looking at getting more. I’m still thinking of getting a high end g-shock. I want one. Then, I’ll look at the other offerings. Thanks for all the great info. You are part of the reason why I got back into watches. Cheers.
I think the best value automatic mechanical watch is a Vostok Amphibia: Accurate Waterproof AK-47 durability All for $95.00 As a nice silicone band and you have an inexpensive winner with a lot of tradition behind it. No doubt.
Vostok ~ Many independent watchmakers will simply refuse to work on one, if you bring it in for servicing. The reason? They _know_ the history of the brand. Would you expect an elderly Jewish watchmaker to work on a watch produced in Germany from right around 1939 and afterwards for a few years? No, no you wouldn't. Same type of mentality regarding Vostok. Swatch ~ If you're the type of person who loves constantly switching up straps on your main watch, forget it. Worst bars in the industry. Found that out the hard way. Straight spring bars mated to drilled through lugs. The bars love to work themselves out of the lugs after only two strap changes. Also, the ticking is maddeningly loud on Swatches. Used to love them. Bought a couple. Loved visiting the Swatch shops. Tossed both of mine in the garbage. Every night, had to bury my Swatch underneath several towels in a drawer just so I could get some sleep.
I agree w/ the G-Shock. So glad I never got rid of mine during the Jersey Shore phase 😂. My model is built like a tank and still looks great after a decade of wear.
If he did not explain himself, a watch is not only a serviceable tool of timekeeping, but one of the few accoutrements appropriate for men. A favorite watch says a whole lot about who you are and what you value. Like a good suit. It doesn't have to be outlandish, but if it fits and supports your appearance, it says volumes without a single word.
I'm just getting into watches and the Seiko's are the ones that really attract me. I just got a Seiko 5 SNK803 and want to get one of the 80x's as well. The Omega Swatch Moonswatches are what intrigued me to get into watches so I'm probably going to get one when available. I know they will probably be hated on but that's alright, I'm a sucker for themed things like that.
Tissot is a perfect entry level brand, one that doesn’t get mentioned much is thebTissot Banana....looks way more expemsive than it is and stands out from the crowd. Completely agree about the Visodate too. On the Milanese loop it’s awesome
Great video Teddy, I’ve just watched a couple of your videos and you have helped validate a few of my purchases as an enthusiast, as I own the Vostok Amphibian, Seagull 1963, and a few JDM Seikos. Your spot on with the Seagull, I think it’s one of the best value watches out there. I swapped out strap for a dark brown crocodile leather strap, and it looks amazing! Problem is, I want more. Grand Seiko is an itch I need to scratch and thinking a 9F quartz but not sure if I should just save more for a spring drive GS… thoughts?
I've owned several Casio watches, but not any more. Either the straps or the cases break after a few months. The much despised Timex digitals last much longer. Much as I love my 87 year old Omega, most of the time I use a Seiko. They are simply unparalleled for durability and price.
Excellent video. Congrats on your Citizen addition. I think that Citizen is a company that is waking up again having slept for quite a long time! I think exciting things are coming.
here are simple watch brand i would recommend any newcomer to buy 1. seiko 2. casio 3. orient 4. tissot 5. tag heuer these watches are some of the easiest to get your hands on, look well, are made well and have reputable brand names. tag heuer i would strongly recommend buying pre owned models such as, the link. professional 1500, 2000 and the kirium. yes they have quartz movements, but they come with exceptional quality and will last you for many years. they also hold their value fairly well and are very liquid too. but these are my opinions based on a volatile market. its harder to get into the watch game now since the popularity of common watches like rolex and omega grew, so its like a disincentive. however you can still enjoy top quality and have an admirable piece without taking out a mortgage. but do your research. know the good from the bad, if your unsure play it safe, and go with reputable brands like the ones aforementioned. but most importantly buy watches for enjoyment of the piece. not as an investment.
before even watching this, there are quite a few great budget watch brands; Seiko (mainly Seiko 5), Citizen (mainly Eco-drive), some Tissot, Casio, and Invicta.
I just got mine and have been wearing it everyday for the last week. I couldn't be happier with my Scuba Dude. It wears nice for the smaller case size and it's an eye catcher. Not a fan of the band that comes with it, so I customized mine with quick release Milanese bands.
I have a Citizen 7 Eagle which I bought around USD100 a few years back. I'd say the 7 Eagle is a great contender against the Seiko 5 and it has something that the 5 didn't: manual hand winding which is useful if I decide to take it off my wrist for an extended period.
It’s funny you mention Seiko as the premier dive watch . I’m not a watch snob but I was a Navy Diver. Casio G Shock was issued and was the most common but Citizen was hands down the most sought after in dive watches. IMHO
Es grato saber más opciones de las que ya teníamos contempladas y sobre todo tener este acercamiento con precios competitivos que de seguro a más de uno lo motivará a adquirir un reloj (me incluyo). Gracias.
@@Dave062YT I never had, until a friend raved on about his. So I bought one after owning various Vintage Vostok, Citizen automatics, Laco, and I have to say the Seiko was the worst watch I had ever wasted my money on. Kept awful time that was random in loss and gain. Power reserve was not as quoted. And I did wear it daily for 6 months. The seconds hand never lined up with any of the indices, of course the chapter ring is known not to anyway. In the end I took it back for warranty and when I got it back it ran worse. I sold it immediately and was happy that at least due to the cult status of the SKX, it sold for what I paid for it. I’ve been wearing my Vostok with 2209 movement for 25 years. No service. Still keeps time exceptionally well. I’ll never buy another Seiko again.
@@whatsstefon I’ve had two Vostok watches and both were junk, one stopped altogether and the other (an Amphibia) had loose lume indices rattling around inside of it after a couple of months. I’ve owned various Seiko’s, including an SKX, and none have ever gone wrong and all were far superior in quality to the Vostok’s.
I have had an Omega watch many years ago, but now for me is Tissot a good choice. An old, well known brand, with a good quality and the price tag suitable for me. In my personal opinion, if you want just a good quality watch from a respected manufacturer, and you aren't going to build a collection, or as an investment, a watch up to let's say 1K$ will be enough for let's say 70% of us.
I bought my son a tissot prx automatic for his high school graduation (I figured it would be better than a ring) no regrets, looks great on his wrist and now he has an awesome watch! Go banana slugs!
I was actually quite surprised to not see Invicta in the list. I am constantly at a loss as to how they can release high quality models with solid Seiko movements at entry level prices.
If you watch this channel long enough you'll come to realize that Invicta isn't ever really going to get much love, particularly the larger ones. I personally have no issues with Invicta and own a few. Once you cometo see what Teddy like stylistically you'll get why Invicta gets little live. I chalk it up to a matter of taste. To me they're fine affordable watches.
Invicta watches have a certain appeal to a certain demographic, and in and of themselves, are decent watches at very affordable prices. However, most of the ones I've seen are far too large, and far too gaudy for my tastes. A 52mm dial looks ludicrously large unless you have Aaron Donald's forearms.
Good video friend! I think your spot on with the G-Shocks. For around $100 you can get the new ones in many different color combinations. So why would you buy a $500 watch when you can have five watches for five different occasions? And I don't know how they sit globally, but in America Nixon is a smart choice as well. Good quality and that 51-30 Chrono is smashing most other $440 watches
Good point. I have a friend who pops into the pub on a Saturday afternoon wearing a different watch to the one that he wears during the week. I have no idea of the make of either and I doubt he does either and that is exactly the point! He's a builder's labourer Mon-Fri and that's one watch: a man at leisure Sat-Sun and that's another watch x
I think the Bulova 'Accuswiss' Chrono is worth including in this list. I have owned the ss/rose gold model for 3 years and it hasn't missed a beat. I paid retail for it back then but you can pick them up for around £1000 or less now. It has a sporty look which also doubles as a beautiful dress watch, and it's one of the favourites in my rather modest collection. Love your videos!
I got into the hobby during lockdown, currently the collection is blacked out G-Shock, Seiko 5KX, Seiko Presage SARY147, and and Cocktail Time for my girl. I'm relieved that we'll be safe in the presence of a watch snob! 🧐😂
I have a Citizen Perpetual Chrono A-T. It is my everyday watch. I have had it for years, and I love it. I also wear a Cassio G-Shock that I have also had for years whenever I am doing something that could damage my nice watches. I also own a Seiko Presage Cocktail Time that I really like but dont wear very often. These 3 brands are great and make beautiful, quality watches for any occasion. I have others but these are my main 3. I highly recommend any of them.
Very cool to see Vostok on your list! I don’t care what watch snobs think, but I like the premise of this video...basically well respected budget watches.
I have my Orient Automatic from the late 60s, which was my first watch, and it will still start with a couple of shakes to wake it up. It also has day/date. I have a few watches, but I will always love my old Orient.
Of the 42 watches I have, 11 of them are Swatches. Each one has a trick or treat, like playing a Phillip Glass composition, or spinning the hands in both directions to start the timer, but my favorite is a Hamilton. I have watches that are fun, like a giant orange faced Body Glove, or a tall red Alessi that wears a rubber suit, a very old Swiss Army watch with a mesh strap, A Mickey Mouse and a Tintin, a fake Movado from the streets of NY (a Fauxvado) a digital watch with a secret camera and some classic Timex models.
The 1963 is the King of enthusiast watches. sadly many people are afraid of the "made in china" but the ST1901 movement is a licensed copy of the Venus 175 (which was used by breitling in the 1950s). All around an amazing timepiece for people that enjoy vintage vibes.
Seagull also makes good TLR cameras. My first and probably last watch I ever bought is my Orient. I love it. Took a really hard fall on the bike and it took it well. I’m not a watch collector but I appreciate a good time piece. I was happy to see Orient because it was exactly how you described the brand. This was the best $200 spent. It’s an understated look but it looks fantastic for every occasion.

Precisely! I have to admit, though, it is a guilty pleasure watching them spaz out over what somebody else is wearing that's not one of their favored brands. LOL

But, I’m getting ready to take the plunge….I’ll be getting a G-Shock GWG200-1A3 very soon. I stumbled upon one of your videos on a late night TH-cam scan. I’ll be looking and some dress watches too. My wife wanted a Shinola watch because she thought they were made in Detroit….we live in Michigan. Her father was a watch maker/repairman at Osterman’s in Ohio way back when. I did some research, and there’s no way I will waste any money at shinola. I stumbled upon your $30k watch shopping challenge video. Thanks for the great videos. And yes, I subscribed.
I'm just getting into watches and I'm glad there are decent watches in this price range. I honestly had no idea it was this pricey. (Obviously new to this) whatever it was, I'm hooked.

You can NOT go wrong with Citizen and Seiko. Fine Japanese craftsmanship for an affordable price.
Don't forget Casios
@@kaka123150 I think the thing with the Seiko 5 is you've also got to think about what you're spending. If you are looking at divers, if can get another 70 dollars, you can get an Orient Kamasu, and get a sapphire crystal and slightly better bracelet
You forgot orient
@@marcustulliuscicero9140 well its not that easy to buy orient divers for so low price here in europe, but yes
Wearing it now, works perfect.
thank you tom holland
😅
No way 😂😂
Bro I was going to comment this exact thing 😂😂
Love these type of videos. No nonsense, getting people to love the hobby. Brilliant.
Exactly!
I picked up the mako 3 and I can 100% agree with you
Really nice video!
Edifice is a very nice Casio lineup, very underrated in my opinion.
So well said! I am taking this for myself!
Its cuz the people who say these dont like something that doesn’t interest them be popular.
@@alexanderyu9219 Precisely.
"Charlie don't surf!" and G-Shocks survive anything.
I totally agree, Tirzah.
T-Balls, I think many people would set the "entry level" bar a lot lower, like $300 and under. Maybe that's just me. My collection of 20 or so watches doesn't have anything over $300 in it. LOL. $1,000 is LUXURY / Grail for a lot of people
True that broda
Absolutely
Yeah, but many of these can be bought for $300 or less... for sure under $500.
Glad I'm not the only one
For many folks, $200.00 is an expensive luxury if it's not a Samsung or Apple smart watch. My grail watch would be a Longines.
Don’t buy watches that are ‘popular’ among enthusiasts/snobs. You always end up flipping
Buy what YOU like
This! Exactly, buy the watch you find cool!
One thing to keep in mind. What you like and find cool will change over time. That’s been my experience.
The same is said about art. Buy things you like rather than what you think might appreciate in value.
Unless it's a Hublot. Fuck Hublot
Amen to that!
@@fenianlewis Hi Nico, lol
Watches that are not smart watches exudes class and elegance.
Smart watches are kinda lame and douchey
I have a coworker who's a watch snob and gives me sh*t everytime I wear something like a Casio, a seiko or even Hamilton. Most people compliment or ask for info on the watches I wear. He has One Watch. A Hulk Rolex Sub which is funny cause everyone thinks it's fake. Whether it's a real watch or not is not where I'm getting at. I'm just saying, it's not worth being a snob when people are only questioning your watch negatively.
I'm not hating on Rolex. Obviously they're great watches. I just laugh at the snobbery.
I couldn't live with just 1 watch ugh
Out of all the “one watch collections” you could have, why pick the hulk? It’s probably the least versatile (bc of the color) and IMO it’s one of the ugly Rolexes
@@henrykemblowski5 Really? I actually think the Hulk is a beauty. I may be biased because I really love green dialed watches, but if I had the opportunity I would probably choose the hulk over say, a black submariner.
Would I make it my "one" watch? Heck no! So I get what you're saying.
He's hating on Hamilton? Is he high? They make great watches. James Bond wears his submariner, and a khaki field would be what his American counterpart Felix Leiter would wear.
try getting a casio to work for 50 years
I love my Casio calculator watch because it annoys mechanical watch snobs AND smartwatch snobs.
real
Seeing Orient climbing up the fame outside Japan is great. I don't know them prior to going to Japan and now I love them. Got the Mako III Diver, would love to get Bambino
also recommend the esteem
Bambino is great. Bought one few years ago and they've essentially doubled in price
I have one of their contemporary range models on bracelet and I love it. In terms of value for money it's very hard to beat. It looks great and keeps very accurate time. Orient watches look much more expensive than they are.
Just got my Bambino IV with gold and emerald green yesterday, and I really love their work!
I'd say the gshock is most immune to criticism as its capability can't be approached by the other watches.
Boom

@@blaine453 I think Rolex's are hideous. It's all a matter of personal opinion.
@@mitchblackmore5230 Agreed
Thanks for putting this out there.
And more people should address it with more than just "price point" or "value proposition " topics. For me, there's two types of snobs, price snobs and brand snobs. Brand snobs are those who believe anything without 100% "in house" movements and 300 years of continuous history etc. etc. Every brand starts somewhere, they forget that the entire swiss industry got started by making bootleg copies of the French and British clocks of the time
Being judged for your wristwatch seems like a the kind of thing watch enthusiasts fear when they are really judging themselves.
Judge not lest ye be judged.
Keep up the good work man
I was issued that G-Shock as an Air Force student navigator in 1989. I sh!t you not, but it's still running on the same battery, 33 years later!
I love orients but I really don''t like the logo, it is a dealbreaker for me.
Me too.
I just bought a $30 Casio World Time and I love it. Wear it more than my Zenith and Rolex 🙂
That's nice I was bet to buy Casio
Im going to a wedding for the first time in years. Never worn a watch but I bought a new suit after getting in shape recently and I think a watch would compliment the entire look. Thanks for this video.
Ecodrive is one of the best choice I made ,10y and still going strong without any issues
Teddy, could you do a video about watch storage options, like where/how do you store your watches? What is the best options in terms of boxes?
Thanks!
What would you guys recommend for an 18 yr old? I always love seeing what’s on peoples wrist and am looking to get one for myself
Cheers.
I think Mido should have made the list.
Thanks for the video Teddy!
Fully agree!!
I think the best value automatic mechanical watch is a Vostok Amphibia:
Accurate
Waterproof
AK-47 durability
All for $95.00
As a nice silicone band and you have an inexpensive winner with a lot of tradition behind it.
No doubt.
Great watches. Easy to mod if you want, too.
I'm not sure if it's same class but I love Longines automatic watches.
Vostok ~
Many independent watchmakers will simply refuse to work on one, if you bring it in for servicing. The reason? They _know_ the history of the brand. Would you expect an elderly Jewish watchmaker to work on a watch produced in Germany from right around 1939 and afterwards for a few years? No, no you wouldn't. Same type of mentality regarding Vostok.
Swatch ~
If you're the type of person who loves constantly switching up straps on your main watch, forget it.
I love this tier of watches. They aren’t a massive financial commitment but they do a lot of things right and are fun to wear and collect.
I agree w/ the G-Shock. So glad I never got rid of mine during the Jersey Shore phase 😂. My model is built like a tank and still looks great after a decade of wear.
They are unbeatable value for money.
What an interesting concept for a video. This is the fresh content that makes it a good day when there’s a new Teddy video. ⭐️

My wallet can't afford to watch that video. Damn those seikos look good
I see what you did there
Orient Bambino and Seiko Presage won my heart.
Tissot is a perfect entry level brand, one that doesn’t get mentioned much is thebTissot Banana....looks way more expemsive than it is and stands out from the crowd. Completely agree about the Visodate too. On the Milanese loop it’s awesome
had never heard of the banana and just looked it up, looks very different and cool. Thanks for that.
I think exciting things are coming.
here are simple watch brand i would recommend any newcomer to buy
1. seiko
2. casio
3. orient
4. tissot
5. tag heuer
these watches are some of the easiest to get your hands on, look well, are made well and have reputable brand names. tag heuer i would strongly recommend buying pre owned models such as, the link. professional 1500, 2000 and the kirium. yes they have quartz movements, but they come with exceptional quality and will last you for many years. they also hold their value fairly well and are very liquid too. but these are my opinions based on a volatile market. its harder to get into the watch game now since the popularity of common watches like rolex and omega grew, so its like a disincentive. however you can still enjoy top quality and have an admirable piece without taking out a mortgage. but do your research. know the good from the bad, if your unsure play it safe, and go with reputable brands like the ones aforementioned. but most importantly buy watches for enjoyment of the piece. not as an investment.
Citizen deserves an honourable mention tbh.
On fire with these videos, super consistent, wouldn't be surprised with this schedule for two months hitting 400k subs!
Now that you can officially endorse Citizen, will you feature some of their automatics?
before even watching this, there are quite a few great budget watch brands; Seiko (mainly Seiko 5), Citizen (mainly Eco-drive), some Tissot, Casio, and Invicta.
Vostok amphibia is my first watch apart from vintage casios.
I went with the 420 scuba dude and im so in love...
Seiko should just start making motor vehicles at this point. I am sure they could somehow incorporate their watch designs for the style.
There’s no reason, get a Lexus.
Certina is a great starter brand. I also love the Hamilton khaki as a jump on point.
I bought a Seiko 5 Automatic in gold last year. Paid 180€, it now goes up for 240€. Totally worth it and I really like this watch!
Gracias.

Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure Orient is a child company to Seiko, and utilize their components, but they operate independently from them?

Very cool to see Vostok on your list! I don’t care what watch snobs think, but I like the premise of this video...basically well respected budget watches.
Automatic watch service costs

Well, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to appreciate nice watches. I’ve had/have a few watches here and there. I still have an old Casio calculator watch, I have a Timex Expedition, and a almost 40 year old Pulsar watch.
