SC is still an elite defensive coordinator away from a natty.
Gribch is horrible and will be the reason USC wont go undefeated.
For USC to go 11-1 , get to the pac-12 final , and make the playoffs, they have to find a way to establish some power run game control featuring Austin jones and Marshawn lynch. Control the clock vs winding the Defense over and over.
ND and OU both are gonna be tough due to being away games. Both have experience QBs however both are in new systems. We do have Superman and the justice league. FightOn!!✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽

Nobody has ever "adjusted" to Grinch's playbook. I think too many chapters are missing. I'll ride the look at what they've actually achieved in the past train. Lincoln walked over the cupcake teams in his conference and lost every year, every time to the few tough competitors. If Lincoln had a good rear view mirror, Grinch wouldn't be there. Would take a miracle for Grinch to finally coach up an elite defense. I watched the spring game. That D was awful. Period.
USC is losing at least two games next year. The gauntlet makes it likely its three. If USC loses Caleb, the ship sinks entirely.
For me Grinch is the unknown quantity. People hate on him, but last year the bench was VERY thin. A couple of injuries and it was over. Those happened during the Colorado game with Eric Gentry being out for the remainder. Then Caleb pulled hamstring in the Utah game, and it was essentially over. With a deeper bench on the defensive side, which we now have, and some very strong starters on the defense I pick SC at 12-0, winning their last season in the PAC-12. It's almost sac-religious to say, but I almost would rather see them in the Rose Bowl than in the tournament... but that's just sentimentality. Better would be to win the National Championship this year out of the PAC 12 and again next year in the BIG Conference. No one has ever won the NC in one conference and then won it the next year in a different one. We could! That would be a lot of fun. BTW, SC has not recruited for defense since Carroll went to the Seahawks, and that is part of why the defense was so weak last year. I think the guys played as well as they could, but at the end of the season they were just out of gas. ✌✌✌✌✌✌✌
Washington and Oregon will be the toughest games but I think we still can go undefeated we are way better than last year

@@mxl_reps_951 Grinch had no good years at OU. He was as big a disappointment as Mike Stoops. In his two years as DV his D allowed an average of 36.7 ppg. He got to 38th in the country his second year.
USC will flounder on D as long as Grinch is there.

USC has the toughest schedule in the nation. A 2 loss USC should be in the playoff over a 1 loss georgia who has the easiest schedule.

That’s a stretch. Their hardest games are ND, Utah and Oregon. That’s really the toughest schedule in the nation when you have Texas playing Alabama at Bama. Oklahoma, Kansas St and TCU
Ole Miss actually has the toughest schedule in the nation if we want to be correct

USC has a monster hill to climb. If they have only 1 loss and makes a t to the PAC Championship, they likely are in.
That said, if GA only has 1 loss (in the SEC Championship), they are in. Guaranteed. If they lose to Tenn, Tennessee will make it to the SEC championship and it would be hard to fit in Tenn, LSU/Bama?and UGA. Something’s gonna have to give. With Penn St, OSU and Michigan all possible with 11-1 records and if Texas beats Bama and runs the table, that all leads to a crazy playoff decision.

LR bought Grinch and the Speed D program another year but the system has already been exposed against the SEC so does it really matter considering they will never break the top 4 ceiling ? Lincoln’s gig will be up in a couple of years and he will move on to Dallas Cowboys…..
For me last year, SC's inability to defend against a pass catching TE drove me crazy. To me that came down to the DC.
Things may not change even though this is a new season. Teams win buy defense & not average giving up multiple touchdowns on a regular basis. Hopefully 2023 will be different, hopefully.
I think they go 11-1 and lose to either Oregon or Washington. Win the Pac12 title and head into the CFP as the #4 seed.

USC isn't beating Oregon @ Oregon in the middle of that gauntlet. Watched Oregon's spring game. Their D looks greatly improved and they loaded up on talent. Their offense also significantly upgraded. Watched USC spring game and there literally was no defense at all. Abysmal.
That late stretch run will be murder. #3 offense, #94 defense. Unless they are completely different on D, the USC 'Open Over the Middle On EVERY Play' Trojans could lose a handful of those stretch games.

No way we go 11-1. We won’t be able to beat Oregon and Utah because those teams are much tougher fundamentally. We also don’t have a special teams and and the defensive scheme will be the same, with our nose tackles covering receivers. This is a 7-5 team at best
