      It's impossible.....Iowa's defense would give up 50 under Lincoln Riley.
      Casuals can't seem to understand the basic problem. 2 minute offenses always get their defenseless wore the fuck out. You might get a stop on third down and force a punt.....but then in 2 minutes your defense is back out there, tired and unable to make.in game adjustments.
      It's called the Texas Tech problem and has been known for 20+ years.

    Some people criticized for crying after the game, but Caleb Williams cares! He tried his best to carry the team on his shoulders to get a win, with no help from the coaching staff. If USC had ANY kind of a defense, then scoring 42 points would result in a win. However, USC just has a defensive coordinator who makes sure that each week's opponent can score as many points as that opponent wishes. In spite of the disastrous results on defense, Alex Grinch refuses to change what he is doing (perhaps he doesn't know anything else), and Lincoln Riley also refuse to make any changes (perhaps he doesn't know anything else). If the critics were the quarterback under these unbelievably stressful circumstances and you are giving it your all -- because you desperately want you team to win -- while your coaching staff does nothing to help, and you are seeing your NFL career slowly sinking, then you would probably react the same way Caleb Williams reacted. Don't judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes. Nobody who is criticizing Caleb Williams can play at his elite level at his age.

    Why this softball analysis on Alex Grinch. Alex Grinch failed Caleb. Lincoln Riley failed Caleb. This is on Lincoln Riley! He is not a good head coach if he can’t see big picture. Every weekend good defensive players look confused, unorganized, and soft. That is not fair to those hard working athletes giving it their all trying to win a championship. Complete disaster of a season and tbh the offense was covered up so much by Caleb. Oline was subpar, Wr’s didn’t create separation consistently. This is on Riley and his horrible ego. How are you more aggressive with reporters and officials than you are with players and coaches. This is football and players and coaches need to be aggressive, it’s the only way for success in this sport. Sad that Riley failed multiple elite level quarterbacks this bad. When he’s leaves USC and fails as NFL head coach then tries to repair his career as an OC in the SEC(probably Georgia 😅) he’ll realize his stubbornness/ego UNNECESSARILY cost him multiple national championships at prime schools (SC/Oklahoma). And yes I’m projecting his future cause we LA fans can be very toxic and is his stubborn attitude towards criticism will run you out of town. I get it nobody’s perfect but being stubborn and sensitive is such a turnoff in any personality. People will deal with it if you have all the answers and results to back it up but Riley clearly doesn’t when it comes to winning championships. Like where’s your self awareness?! Geez 😞. I guess Riley really loved Mike Leach (RIP 🙏🏽) so much he chose to replicate his whole career. I thought Riley was more of the Spurrier type with at least enough conscious to realize defense matters to squeak out one national championship, but man being okay with this level of defense for SIX YEARS at two blue bloods is egregious level incompetence. I know it’s just sports but this is so frustrating cause it’s unnecessary.
    But I’m not making the big bucks and can only hope for better.
    Sincerely,
    -Sad SC fan

    Alex Grinch has the players out of position on several plays but the elephant in the room is USC is not recruiting Physicality on the Defensive end of the team - simply put the linebackers and DBs are not big enough, strong enough, physical enough to stop or limit the run. How are U going to get good DB run support with a 6'3" 180 lb Safety when Georgia has the same Safety at 6'3" 215 lbs

    What I see with USC is the same I see with TCU and even Wash. They are finesse teams and while they can finesse themselves to death against each other, when they meet a slobber-knocking team who can play just as well but add in that extra "punch to the face" they fall apart. TCU last year is a great example. I remember my Gators playing Nebraska in ... 1995? ... and the "old ball coach" could fling it all over the field but when Nebraska hit them in the mouth they folded. USC needs to keep their current level of finesse while at the same time learning to play smash mouth while they're doing it. I'm looking at you defense.

    This is a bad take: It's not hard to do the research:
    1. The best defense Grinch has had in the last 7 years was ranked #60. SEVEN SEASONS is a pattern not an outlier. His two seasons at USC the Defense has ranked #109 on avg. What does being in the locker room have to do with facts?
    2. Grinch desides the 5 W's Who, what, where, when and why. So he's 💯 responsible for the outcome. Why is Barrs on the bench and not lined up next to Alexander giving the DL a 1-2 punch?
    3. The roster was his choice. After the 2022 season, even a blind man could see the secondary was poor. He elected to go with the same group this season. Bringing in just 4 new guys. 2 TF and 2 TP guys (Cristian Roland-walace and Fegans). He doesn't trust the TF or Fegans. So he ended up with just 1 upgrade player. They needed 4 or 5. How do you reconcile this other than poor evaluation skills. This same group is almost exactly in the same spot they were last year statistically. So bringing back the same group gave you the same result? 😂
    3. He brought in massive 300 lb Barrs and Alexander and then benched Barrs (a starter at Az) in favor of a smaller 270 lb back up DL player. Making the defense smaller with less experience.
    4. The dude plays nickel defense on the goal line? In fact he's in nickel alot. Essentially puting more players from the weakest group of the defense on the field.
    It was a comedy of errors. The real question is that Lincoln Riley couldn't see any of this? A 10 million dollar man should have better insight. Hopefully he learns from this.

    USC will be a 7-5 team by the end of the regular season, the final losses will be to Oregon and UCLA. We will likely go to a minor bowl and face a 9-3 Group of Five team, after which we will end the season as a 7-6 team. Our coaching staff is not making any adjustments to our schemes, at least if what they say in interviews is to be believed, perhaps they are not capable of it.

    There were players out of position during the game while everyone else did their job. It is not all on Grinch inheriting players who just are not mentally or physically capable. Last season was a surprise doing as well as they did and loosing a very good O-Line and one of the best WRs Addison who called for double teams to open it for other WRs and made them look better than they are. But thats where Coaching comes in noticing and trying to adjust the weaknesses and strengths of your team. I am a Trojan Die Hard but I am also understanding that the Helton Era is still remnant. Its going to take longer than everyone wants and going to the BIG TEN will make it harder. Go Trojans Fight On.

      Gotta get a real DC and a top-notch DL coach who can recruit as well as develop the recruited talent. On offense, need a capable OL coach who can also recruit & develop talent. Trojans have a huge built-in advantage by being able to recruit all of that high level SoCal talent, as well as a good portion of the regional talent that exists outside of SoCal, the Polynesian pipeline has been and could be again a valuable asset to a USC program that is clicking, running on all cylinders. Mr. Pickle, I think you are looking at Alex Grinch is the perspective of a snapshot. Here he is at this moment and is it his fault? Let's broaden the picture and make it a movie over a period of time. As a Sooner fan, I watched Grinch for since he was hired as DC at OU. Riley took the Sooners to the playoffs twice. Once under Baker Mayfield and then under Kyler Murray./ We played Bama one year and Georgia the other. Both verry close games and botth were losses. Why? NO DEFENSIVE CAPABIL;ITIES.!!! The Sooners did it all on Offense. We saw Caleb crying post game. WE saw Baker Mayfield angry as hell at how the game went (defense opr lack thereof). Murray is much quieter and self controlled, but you can see the look on his face that says "Baker, you were right!!" Frankly, I have never seen a coach allow a turd to float in a punch bowl for such a long time. I know that it angered me when Riley (e call him Stinkin' Lincoln) sneaked out of Norman, OK, in the middle of the night, but I rejoiced to see Alex Grinch tag along with him. USC won't miss him, but just keep him out there and out of Oklahoma and surroundinn territories.

  • @BenC-77
    @BenC-77 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How many times at Oklahoma with Grinch at DC did the Sooners win games 45-35...giving up yards and points is what Grinch does. Lincoln Riley being loyal to him is admirable, but people that follow CFB have seen this story before. I think it's quite poetic that Caleb Williams left a place where if he had stayed, he could have actually won a natty.....just saying.

    As a long time USC fan we need to utilize our TE more and really setup the run game a lot more. O-line needs to improve big time. Defensive scheme terrible, players need to be disciplined completely. I saw yet again in every game that Tackett played in he got jucked out his cleats so bad it was just hard to watch. DBs play to far off from the WR we playing 10 yards off them and giving up first downs. Too many defensive players out of position, can someone explain why Braylon Shelby and romello height have been in position at a hybrid LB chasing a RB or WR at times makes no sense

    Riley did not care about defense at Oklahoma either, and now with a returning Heisman QB and a solid offense, who have a unranked team with probably 5 losses? For 2 years now, its been the same old story. To late as this season is over, and hopefully a split of the remaining games, to get back a shred of respect. Get a proven, hard nosed defensive coach, as you see entering a much tougher conference next year, with no Williams. Get ready coach!

  • @davidmccutcheon485
    @davidmccutcheon485 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I guess the only reason for USC FB members to keep playing is the NIL money that so many are receiving. And maybe that is part of the reason for the poor play of the defense (and questionable performances by the offense at times) ; it's no longer about personal pride or that of your school, it's all about the NIL money. My Brother-in-Law, who is a die hard USC alumnus, says the rumors regarding NIL money and performance have been widespread all season. And that does not exclude Caleb, who is raking in the cash when not playing, and without much effort. That is the capitalist way, and good on him and the others, but sad for the school (and fans). Meanwhile, Georgia and Alabama seem to keep marching on without such dilemma...

I can almost guarantee that if he would have stayed…a lot of players would have stayed as well and not only made a good run last year but this year they would be undefeated. It’s not always greener on the other side. He is not an NFL quarterback. Stop with the BS about a generation talent. On 3... I know as a Sooner fan I saw Caleb stay for the bowl game with interim Bob Stoops. He won, He could have left as for me as a Sooner fan I bear no ill will towards Caleb. God bless him, he is too young to bare the burden of this team, that rests with the head coach. Riley skipping practices feels eerily like OU in 2021, Riley is a liar and that is a fact that will continue to surface. Caleb placed his trust and care with Riley, Look Riley fired a national champion coach in Mike Stoops to say he could not coach is laughable.
    That def rests with the head coach and his lack of commitment, he could bring in Saban, if you limit def snaps in favor of offense no coord can survive that. Riley did not have the trust in the regents to get the money he wanted because Riley wanted to just outscore everyone. I feel bad for Caleb that young man has a great future ahead of him and it is not with Riley. Mo ones future is secured with that snake.
    Be a man Riley be at practice don't let a 20 21-year-old young man burden the failures of your philosophy. Riley is a piece of trash.

Don’t put the blame on the product on the field, as you say. Alex Grinch created that product. You’re sugar coating what is the truth. He’s a disaster and has needed to move on since before moving to USC. The offense has had to be superb against cupcake/decent teams to make up for what the defense did. Out of position players and trash schemes do not win big games. It’s been that way since Riley fired Mike Stoops and later hired Grinch in 2019. Quit trying to be nice to the subscribers lol 😉
