One of the unique features that comes with Ableton Live is the wealth of guidance and support information provided to help you navigate the application. The Ableton community is also very large and active so it makes sense to look in that direction if a strong support network is what you’re looking for 💯

I almost start processing on every track with Melodyne first. It can serve as a very strong multi-tool. That is, you can use it as an EQ, Compressor/Expander, Sound Designer, etc. Problem is, with all the power it has they need to make the interface way more user friendly and I'd bet more and more people would use it as a starting point. I love especially, how you can use it as a compressor/expander. It really helps you get your dynamics right, especially on bass - and, without artifacts.
    Thanks for the vid.

Thank for taking the time to create this informative video. I'm 66 and a musician of 50+ years. I use a Korg PA4x mainly as a multi-part, chord smart sequencer to drive more refined instruments in my DAW. Korg does an outstanding job of creating MIDI based styles from high quality audio. High quality being the operative word. Garbage in always equals garbage out. I've been fighting bone marrow cancer so music is the only thing I hav left to take my mind off such. By using my vast library of plugins and a Kurzweil K2700 for instrumental sounds are far better than those of the PA4x makes for high quality music. Since 99% of what I do is live only, the MIDI and Chord Detection offered by the PA4x is unchallenged in the world of arranger keyboards. And when you use it as a multi-channel, chord smart sequencer to drive both plugins in Ableton Live and Samples/Patches on my Kurzweil K2700 the end result is quite impressive in my opinion.
Once again, thanks for taking the time,
    Bill

What an amazing comment Bill. 😀
So lovely to have your input as an experienced musician and creative. I’ve never used the korg unit you’ve mentioned but I’m very interested in checking it out. I too have come from a live music background primarily in the 80s and 90s. I still have my DX7, Juno 106 and Korg M1 to name a few bits. They are all in storage now as my daily activities require a different set of tools but I’ll never sell. I made the huge mistake of letting go my K2500R 😫
Anyway I’m so happy that music is providing you a meaningful distraction from your medical challenges. I wish you every success on this journey sir. Thank you so much for sharing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

@@MTTC You're most welcome. We all come from different backgrounds and most have had different experiences. Next to my kids, seeing the introduction of MIDI in Atlanta at the Winter NAMM Show in the early 1980's sticks out in my mind. I saw, and even got to help, Stevie Wonder navigate a PPG Wave while sitting across from Herbie Hancock. Even though the instruments were impressive I couldn't get my mind off the potential that MIDI was going to bring to the music world. I was working on an Electrical Engineering degree at the time as well as managing a music store. Even though my brain could only conceptualize maybe 5% of MIDI's Potential, that 5% was enormous. And now it's the oldest, unchanged serial interface the electronics industry has ever developed. The original specs are still in place which is something that just doesn't happen in the electronics world over a 42 year span. The D in MIDI should have been an M for MIRACLE. The revival of the 80's and 90's analog synths is great, the AI is great, but I'm not sure any of it truly compares with MIDI as 42 years in the electronics world is literally timeless. Anyone reading this that disagrees merely needs to toss their MIDI cables in a drawer for a day and you'll see, hear and feel the impact. The same day we saw MIDI the 8 bit CMI Fairlight was introduced and treated with royalty. 5 years later it was an antique. My K2700 will most likely be my last new keyboard as I'm using it with my PA4x and mountain of plug-ins to achieve things I never dreamed possible. I've only got 2 hands and 2 feet so my teenage classical/theater organ training really helps out with my StudioLogic MP-117 Pedalboard. Yet another instrument where MIDI shines as it can easily be programmed for notes or PC's. I played around with SUNO V3 Last night for a few hours. It's quite impressive but regardless of how much it and it's counterparts are improved in the near term, there's only so much that can be pulled from random space. Creativity and talent will always win out in my opinion as a human had to put the sounds/phrases in for the AI to pull them out. To everyone that's afraid of AI just keep playing and eventually what you'll hear is something very similar to what you wrote. Music's randomness has been around since the beginning of music. AI merely made it faster so, for one, I'm not worried about it in the least. To be more clear I'm excited about it as we'll all be able to listen to a broader range of music than we ever could have imagined. Rock On!

@@MTTC I’m transcribing some improvised piano music that’s super complicated. I was considering trying the Logic Pro method as I already own it but seems melodyne has the far superior polyphonic pitch recognition algorithm. I’m using the trial period at the moment. Would be great to own it. The full version is incredibly expensive though at about $800US. I may be able to get away with using one of the cheaper versions. I’ll most likely never use it for pitch correction and editors it’s mainly designed for and I’m not running a commercial studio. I’m just a pro musician who wants to transcribe some piano for orchestra and hear it played. Lots of playing and experimenting to do with the app.

When I import the midi track back to the project , it crops the empty intro and the piano starts right way, só the song bacame out of sync. Any help is welcome. Yes that is a silly bug in the software.

Add a single quiet note at bar 1 of the region that you’re converting. Once you bring the midi back in you can delete that and everything will line up

All very good questions Christopher 👍🏾. Melodyne is the most accurate plugin I’ve found for converting Audio to MIDI by in particular when it comes to polyphonic audio.
However this feature is just tiny part of the power of this incredible application. There is much more to it than that. As far as cost goes if you’re in the music production and sound recording business this it’s like a saw to a carpenter. Invaluable. Remember you only need to buy it once and this will recoup the investment in no time through the powerful time saving features it possesses. Why not do some more research on the application itself and try out Studio for 30 days. You have nothing to lose 💯
