Wow, I'm amazed that Logic can't convert a whole drum loop, drum kit or chords into midi. Ableton had got this covered easily... and not to mention you can comp a midi track in Ableton and not Logic...

To be honest, Matthew, I have to agree with you. There is no justifiable reason why logic pro isn’t stacked with the same great features available in any other top tier DAW. In particular the audio to midi conversion which is a real shame. Thanks for the input, sir. 👍🏾

Easy to follow instructions. But I swear, every logic pro x tutorial never works this easy for me. For some reason when I select the "Flex" button, nothing happens. I have Track Selected and the click Flex. Nothing. Logic stares at me as if that flex button is a placebo button that actually does nothing. Is there another setting within logic that needs selected for this to actually work? Usually that's what I find after deeper digging in the googles.

Thanks for the question. The same thing happens to me at times. Try selecting an audio track, click the flex button at the top of the screen then go back to the audio track and make that particular track wider by clicking on the bottom border and pulling down a bit. You will then see the Flex options for that track which you can select. The audio region will then be analysed and the display will change. Hopefully this will resolve the issue for you 😀

wow sax sounds amazing is it vst or live playing?

Yes indeed my friend. The sax 🎷 part was taken from Output Arcade. I’ve been using this a lot lately and the samples are out of this world. Check the description of my most recent video for a link to try out free of charge 😃

I tried to convert an audio loop (blue colored) of a Pedal Steel Guitar into midi; and although it converted ; I got mush. Any way to get the same actual sound in midi?

My best suggestion is to first of all select the blue audio loop and bounce in place to create a WAV of AIFF file of the region. Then use Melodyne to convert to MIDI. This will give you the best results in my experience 😀

this worked perfectly, but as you stated not as much with chords, is there a better way to convert audio/midi chords.?

    • @MTTC

Thanks for the feedback Paul. Unfortunately I don’t as yet have a solution for converting chords. I’m due to test this out on the latest version of Melodyne. If the results are favourable I’ll make a video on it. Cheers 😀
