    Great tutorial Kenny. Considering most producers especially young people nowadays resort doing everything with MIDI as the top 2 videos on your channel are MIDI related, this is THE part where IMHO Reaper needs a lot more updates, attention and love etc. Some nice MIDI - Producer focused features, improved RS5K sampler, drum machine, more midi effects, more modulator stuff and easy way to drag n drop modulate everything, maybe improved ReaSynth and more VST Instruments built in etc.
    Currently I'm using a lot of community made scripts to compensate for that and I'm very happy with the MIDI editor but I'd definitely appreciate some more love from the developers in this part of Reaper, especially if they'd just add some of the script features in default Reaper midi editor; like ability to add chords, scales (more than default) and arpeggios, built in arpeggiator, chord detector, note randomizer just to name a few. Of course other producer focused features like a better built in step sequencer (instead of a plugin like Megababy or 3rd party) and a clip launcher would completely change the game for Reaper but one can only hope.
    Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about Reaper, I've been using Reaper for quite sometime now and before that I've used pretty much every major DAW like Ableton, FL, Bitwig, S1, Cubase etc. and I have some of them installed on my PC but I choose to use Reaper everything simply because of the flexibility and customization. But since nothing is perfect in this world, there are times when I feel the lack of some producer related features that pulls me out of Reaper which I'd love to be changed in the future. Please Justin.

    Thankyou so much this was very usefull. I have been using midi tracks for a good while but did not know about quantizing on the input. So simple. Cheers.

    Hey man, first of all - great job on these videos. I'm thinking of switching from Pro Tools to Reaper and your videos are so easy to watch (I usually find myself skipping a lot in tuts, but you get straight to the point and very clearly!). Your tutorials are easily among the best I've ever seen, maybe even the best. I just have one suggestion - all the audio you play in reaper is a bit loud compared your voice (not too loud, but when watching at night where I have to keep the volume low I have to keep adjusting the volume). I don't know if I'm alone in feeling this way, but it just seems like a small adjustment that might make it a bit more pleasant to watch. :) But other than that, - absolutely brilliant! And hank you so much for these! You're a great tutor!

      Can you explain to me how to correct the audio playback delay when I press the midi keyboard, I press the key and only then do I hear the sound and that's why midi is recorded late? @@REAPERMania

    • @JovianPath
      @JovianPath 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MCAlvesPortugal There are two main causes for a delay between when you press a key and the sound starts in a VST.
      The first is your audio device settings for sample rate and block size. You should see this in the upper right of the Reaper window and it says how many milliseconds of delay you have

    Veeeery helpful!
    Day 2 of using actually functional interface drivers on my way to Rock & Roll song completion. & I may not need a 3rd! [Did not expect to understand so much after so few tutorials watched. Yesterday {to say nothing of past year where i rec'd w/naught but a single mic, an outdated analog sensibility, & standard Win driver that did not allow for multiple input recognition} was ...frustrating. lol. Not so much today. & that previous condition of confusion and strain is alleviated mightily - exponentially, even Thanks to thee & again!]

    Reaper Noob question: how did you know what note input (I think you put in 0.0.2) would make them all the same length? That's an awesome function and will come in very handy for me.

    Hello! I am new to the channel and also a new REAPER user. I come from FL Studio that I have been using it for many years, my intention is to improve the workflow in terms of mixing voices, which is what I have dedicated myself to the most. There is a function in FL that if I double-click on the audio, a window opens and I can directly automate the audio form without any plugin. Can I do that here at Reaper? Speaking of other things, I wanted to tell you that I appreciate your effort to share your knowledge about reaper

    Hey men, hope you will be fine.
    I have a vocal inside the reaper and it is not actually on the beat. Vocal is little bit out from the tempo. Some words are on the beat and some are not. Is there any way to fix the tempo of vocal manually and turn it on the beats?

    • @larslengberg
      @larslengberg 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can change the playback rate of the vocals (without altering pitch) in "Item properties" if it's just a matter of vocals being recorded a bit too slow or too fast. But if it's randomly off-beat, then you probably need to chop up the vocals ("Split item at cursor") and match each piece with the beats by moving it and/or changing its playback rate. Or re-record the vocals.. :) Hope you get it sorted somehow.

    I ALWAYS learn stuff in your videos. When you did that right click into event properties my brain exploded lol
    Do you know if there a way to select every 2nd midi note? Like a hihats to vary the midi velocity every second hit?

    • @marcdarkin
      @marcdarkin 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Double click on a midi item and press the F key. A filter window will pop up where you can set all kinds of filters for the selection of events.

    • @REAPERMania
      @REAPERMania  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Using the MIDI filter (Type "F" in the MIDI Editor) you can choose to select notes based on "Position in measure". If you were doing 1/8th note hi hats, set that to "0" to "1/16th" notes in that section with "Repeat every…" set to 1/4 notes. Then hit "Set selection" and it should select just the first hit of every two. To get every other hit, set that to "1/8th" to "1/4th" notes in that section with "Repeat every…" set to 1/4 notes. Then hit "Set selection" and it should select every other hit. Then you can adjust the velocities in the graph below. This may vary if it's not quantized perfectly.

    Hi, Keeny Gioia. I can see you are the power user for Cockos Incorporated (you are like Fl Studio (Image Line) power users Martin Garrix, Avicii, and more).
    This is my case:
    I'm deaf in my right ear (100%) and also a damaged left ear in my high frecuencies (35%). Is it possible for me to mix and master a song or it is just impossible because I'm not like you with two healthy ears?
    Thank you in advance for your answer.

    • @djgeorgetsagkadopoulos

      To be honest, most likely you will be able to mix a song just fine. However mastering, is something that even folks with "good/normal" hearing may not be able to get right by their own.
      So, you may want to consider to let someone else do the mastering, since it does require to be able to listen fine details on the sound.
      Perhaps you can create your own master versions before giving them to someone else, and then compare the two versions to understand the differencies. This will then help you to set a mental reference point that you'll have to apply to any further attempts to master your tracks by your own.
      I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but it's an honest one. Mastering is not easy even with "perfect" hearing.

    • @ER-sb3zt
      @ER-sb3zt 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@djgeorgetsagkadopoulos Wow! I never thought that even for someone with two healthy ears could be a challenge to master correctly a mixed song. I will follow your advice.
      Thank you for your time.
