I have a job to replace this very same today. Thank you for your video. I now have confidence. The fault u had on this boiler. I would have x800 it on hot water only withf&r isolated. My job, it’s leaking thru condensate drain
Think this sort of extensive information is useful, possibly once before and while carrying out such work. You can only remember this info, if you replace these main heat exchangers, somewhat regularly.
New engineer here. When a main heat exchanger gets blocked, is the boiler not creating enough heat (50-60degrees) a common symptom? I thought they would over heat and then modulate down. Tks
Hi. First of all, apologies for the late reply. So, the main hx can cause both issues. If it's blocked real bad, it'll overheat and Lockout or cutout. Secondly, if it part blocked, water will still be able to circulate through it, but as debris are occupying part of the heating space inside the main hx, it won't let out much or little heat. Hope this addresses your query 😬
What’s that boiler about 12 years old, price of the hex and given other age problems with them like the plastic manifolds leaking, flow turbine adapter, I’d have gone down the road of a new boiler.
Looks a very technical job but im sure its not too bad once you have done a few of them.not for the faint hearted.very well explained.
Thank you 🫶
