Without the $25k car and the Cybertruck being a flop Tesla doesn’t have much in the pipeline. Vaporware can carry you so far.
They are all wrong, Tesla lays off a lot of people once in a while, last time was in 2022. Every healthy company should do that to stay healthy or they will end up like Twitter but without being saved at the last minute.

What about Tesla layoffs and Drew leaving?
Read the biography of Musk then you will understand that headcount reduction is normal operating procedure for all Musk companies.
He only wants the top top workers to work there so he gets rid of those that are merely good.
Over time he is left with the entire company being full of kickass people.
Drew had been planning to leave for months when this upcoming layoff was announced. How I know that is because he all of a sudden had time to get on X and post a bunch of stuff. He has not done hardly any of that in the past. Same with Rohan Patel. I wondered at the time how they had the time to do that all of a sudden. Now I know. They were probably either training their replacements or handing off work.
I am guessing the reason why they waited until the official layoff notice had to do with severance pay. If they were able to volunteer to be cut during the layoff they possibly would get more severance pay than if they had just decided to retire. However I may be wrong about this as it might not apply at the executive level.

Amazon, Google, MS had significant layoffs and they make software. It's was just a matter of time before Tesla starts laying off not to mention other OEMs also started laying off. We are heading into difficult times.

Volkswagen sales are up in Q1 (VW, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, etc), but EV sales are down. That means EV's are dragging down their overall sales figures.
Reason are prices....

Maybe, but have you seen the quality diffrence? just look at the new Porche clone how bad the build quailty was/is.. That is a big reason why Europe don't like cars from China.

I keep forgettin' that VW Group owns Audi, Bugatti, Porsche, and Lamborghini. That is so unbelievable to my 58 year old self.
The market field is not in a good shape the last 3 mobths in europe, but it looks like it getting better. So i think VW Group will sell a lot more evs in the next quartal, we will see

Most channel I watch downplayed the fact that Tesla is laying off that many peoples. Yes it is necessary sometime but it looks like Tesla did it in a savage way

Perhaps Chinese customers still see VW Group as a premium Western brand (Good sales figures). The reason VW can't sell cars in Europe (bad sales figures) is probably due to them still being too expensive for the majority of potential European EV 'switchers'. They're waiting for cheaper Chinese imports with equal or better quality. VW.... drop the prices considerably and your car sales will improve. Profit margins for the European VW Group dealerships won't though. They'll moan like hell !

I have driving an EV for 9 months and the growth is see on the road in the last 3 months it has trebled, I can only go on what I see, what do others think.
This did not age well: Tesla EU sales -30% in March.
As I understand, this man made a promise in a recent video to shut down this channel if a particular Tesla news item was true. It was, he edited the video and put it behind a paywall.
VW's SW division is headquartered in California and has quite big offices in Germany and Poland. They just opened an office to China. Also: VW Group outsold Tesla 2:1 with BEVs alone in Germany.
Tesla's global decline was 9% and VW 3.3%.
VW OS 4.0 has been received very well, so of course it needs dissing.
From the same article:
"BEV sales in Q1'2024 (YOY change):
Europe: 74,400 (down 24.3%) and 54.5% share
U.S.: 13,200 (down 16%)
China: 41,000 (up 91%)
Rest of the world: 7,800 (up 41%)
Total: 136,400 (down 3.3%)"
54.5% market share in Europe.
Tesla sold also less in Europe: -9%, but - true - VW lost more market share there, than Tesla in Q1.
That's completely normal: they have to play catch up after sleeping for too long, like many other traditional combustion engine companies. But they are definiteley more on track and on their way to the necessary transition than Toyota, Ford and others... As soon as the next generation batteries arrive at VW, I will prefer buying an ID7 (or an Audi) over a Tesla or BYD.
Diess made huge mistakes - the poor dashboard and controls that inflicted not just EVs but the new Golf as well - but he was taking VW enthusiastically in the correct direction and accepted it would be tough. That's why he was compared to Musk. Now - rrtrenching, making the best, short term decisions. Decent newish products like the id7 and id buzz still dated back to the old management

Tesla’s sales are down 13% first quarter this year compared to last year in the US. So why is it so surprising that VW EV sales are down 16%? And EV sales are only a fraction of their total sales. Tesla doesn’t have ice cars to fall back on. The future is EV’s but we are not there yet and measuring the health of a car company today based on their EV sales is pointless. Unless of course they are Tesla.

Yet VW don't bring their EVs to Australia where they would get a much better margin for them .
As someone who ordered a VW ID4 and rejected once he saw it and drove it upon receipt, and bought a 2023 Audi Q4, I offer these comments from first had experience. VW has morphed from a fine German car company to a mediocre company that does everything painfully cheap with little regard for producing high quality cars with a quality customer experience and quality service. They are just plain cheap. VWAG has forgotten about traditional values and offers mediocre products and mediocre customer service. The Electric Viking understated how bad they are in the US and Europe and why their BEV sales on the US and Europe are extremely disappointing after spending billions.

No, EV adoption is just beginning and is not going away. Battery prices are falling and price parity between EV and ICE will follow. That will be the point of no return.

They're still more expensive, we have high interest rates and relatively low petrol prices, so people are opting for cheaper ICE vehicles.

I'm not surprised, the ID4 sucks. Went car shopping with my girlfriend. The Hyundai Kona is a really nice car! The Ford Mach E bonked every time we went over a bump or crack in the street like something in the back tire area wasn't tightened properly. We tried the ID4 and it had the worst interior it was the slowest and the dash was so long and huge like an ICE vehicle! Girlfriend didn't want a Tesla, she bought the Kona!
Hyundai is on the verge of obsolescence in China, the product is so bad
I ID4 is a far higher quality build than a model 3 or y. Much nicer car ro drive.

ID3 just isnt as good as the competition (Volvo EX30, MG4 etc) and is more expensive, ID4 I like and perhaps you are right about reliability issues, Buzz is ridiculously overpriced, Audi just too expensive and up against Volvo/BMW/Polestar all with superior offerings. Skoda enyaq, nice car but still over priced. The Xpeng platform cars I think will save them, VW has a great series of brands so I think they will do it but there will be quite a few job losses in Europe. In a couple of years time the Chinese market will be largely EV and then the test will come, Im surprised more Chinese companies arent building EU factories, they would be welcomed in many countries and this would insulate them from sanctions/tariffs. Interesting Video as always.
The end of the first wave of EVs is here. I expect it will be the 4th wave before they dominate. Its mainly corporate EVs in the UK. Infrastructure for charging is poor. Nothing wrong with the right ICE cars.
Sea corals are not buying ICEs right or wrong.
VW are inferior on a 'value for money' basis to both Tesla and BYD (their main competitors) but also the SAIC-MG and other Chinese manufacturers. BMW and Daimler are in the same boat.
But in China, Volkswagen's EVs offer superb value for money through significant discounts.

These brands are trying to live off their brands - it just does not work anymore. Here in the UK it is not difficult to price a Model Y vs a similar ID4 and see the difference. £43k for the Tesla MY vs £52k for the ID4. VW charge extra for granny charger cable, servicing (They still try that one on), heat pump, active cruise, folding electric door mirrors, most things that come as standard with the Tesla are extras on the VW. They need to drop their prices to at least compete....?!

Tesla success is more charging stations with canopy and solar panels. That is the future of true green technology that the public feels good about. Every time I go to a Tesla charging station that has canopy solar panels it just feel zero emission.

@@staleofte3309 About what? Just hook your nostrils to an ICE. That's enough truth to do anybody in. The pollutants from an ICE are never diluted to zero no matter how much "fresh" air is added to them. This has never been revealed over the 100 years or so of the ICE history.
There is no free lunch with any manufacturing process ICE, steam, or EV, or any other manufacturing process, as a matter of fact. The fact is that ICE cars produce more pollutants than EVs, given the lifetimes of both. So where's your problem?

ICE has no demand. Nobody wants petrol powered cars. Gas is expensive, and bad for you. Electricity is clean and efficient. Everyone wants EVs. They need to be well designed, and well made. Two things no company except Tesla can do so far. Amazingly Tesla is the best car maker and they are not even a car company. Tesla is a factory company. They build factories that build EVs. Best factory company in the world.

@davidbeppler3032 just about everything. Tesla stock price is falling, they are laying people off. The Tesla truck is garbage. The tesla car is of poor build quality and only suits certain sectors of the market. Gas or ICE cars are in high demand. Nothing wrong with an ICE car. You have to make the electricity from oil, gas, nuclear to make EVs run
EVs are built from a dirty amount of raw materials. They are more polluting and dangerous when they catch fire. EVs will probably take over but not until about 2060.
Inferior EV's. Compared to Tesla, BYD or Hyundai, VW EV's are not as good and cost more. So, VW has only itself to blame for making poor quality EV's.
Does VW want people to buy ICE or EV? Where do you think the design money goes.
