    VW is getting serious! The e-UP! has been on sale since 2014 but this new 2020 model's range has almost doubled over the old car's range, the performance has improved and the price has dropped.
    It rivals its SEAT and Skoda sisters, but also the Honda e and MINI Electric. It has five doors and with 32.3kWh battery it can manage 162 miles before needing to be charged.
    All of this means what was a hard car to recommend now makes a lot sense. Watch the video to see exactly what our Nicki thinks of it.

    Nice to hear someone saying the removal of a complex and immediately outdated system (the screen) is a good thing, not some kind of negative. Much rather have a cheaper car than waste money on that crap. Also most comments mentioning 16 month waits haven’t aged well 😂 they are now available on a pretty ordinary wait time and have been for a while 😉

    16 month wait for the E Up in Germany due to massive incentives. Will this effect imports??

    Right time to make a review. The car will be removed from the VW catalogue in a few days...

      Hi Johannes. We've asked VW and they say they have sold all of this year's allocation of production but promised the e-Up! will be back. SEAT dealers still have stock of the Mii too if you can't wait.

      Electrifying it’s a 16 month back order because they sold so many in Germany. The price was effectively only €12k

    Just a little side comment, as Skoda have withdrawn the Citio-e, are VW / Seat likely to follow suit?

    My guess is VW are replacing the eup and it's cousins for a forthcoming ID 1 or 2 . A dedicated ev platform makes so much sense . I hope I'm right.

    • @wa2804
      @wa2804 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That will happen for sure - but not before 2022. The current small car platform will stay in production for 2021 but VW has absolutely no interest in selling more cars than necessary. Each small platform electric causes a loss of ~3500GBP and they only sell them to avoid CO2 penalties..

      Like wolfram said, vw group not making enough profitt With these ones. But still crazy that an amazing city car, and even for other trips, is sold out around europe and people want it more and more and manufacturer wants to stop production!?!....What the hell?

  • @christianmilan7404
    @christianmilan7404 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    a year on and Skoda aren't selling the Citego and Seat are not selling the SEAT MII Electric anymore, just VW is still going with the somewhat affordable VW E UP. Well done VW

  • @rcajavus8141
    @rcajavus8141 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Are you sure? Looks like its being pulled out of production! Skoda already announced no 2021. Citigo in Europe. I think they figured its "too old" and will be only 2020 model to keep them up to 2022. and brand new small segment car. E-up is already an old chassis.

    • @cms1104
      @cms1104 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a stop on new orders, but the cars are not pulled from production. They are likely to be built till the ID.1 is presented in 2022/2023? However, VW will not sell more of these cars than they have to, as they are currently making a loss on each.

    • @wa2804
      @wa2804 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries, they will return in 2021. VW is making ~3500 GBP loss on each car (to fulfill CO2 regulations) so they are not eager to sell more e-up/citigo/mii electric than absolutely necessary.

      The difference between Eup and Skoda is the amount of tee up in the charge is about double the capacity of Skoda.

    Well, this VW model is great in almost all ways, true. However, I must admit few cons. First of all, there are only 4 seats, even though 3 people can squeeze in on the back, this violates the traffic rules and you may get a ticket on the road. Second, the charger. After two years of use the charger began to misfunction. Time to time it refuses to just start the charging perocess when connected, either at home or to a public charger. Firtunately there is a workaround, when connected to a power source, switch the car in by turning the key (just the car not ignition). In such case the car consumes 100-200W of power, but the charging process happens. Otherwise no luck to charge the battery. I got my car to dealer's service for diagnostics, they replaced the charger for about 500 quids, but the issue appeared again in a week. Otherwise, I am really happy to be an owner of this model. Quiet drive, relatively long run between charges (300km at summer, half the amount at winter) etc.

    VW have just stopped taking orders for the e-up, so you can't buy it any more. The reason for this is, they have a waiting list of 16 months for the e-up.

    In 2023 - non of them VAG cheap and sensible EVs are on sale - it is better to sell fat SUVs for 4 people to stay in trafic in cities - sad, so sad situation:)

    Merci pour cette vidéo.
    En tant que propriétaire de cette voiture, un petit retour d’expérience après 2500km.
    C’est une voiture merdique, 5 fois en panne !!! Les mécaniciens de VW sont complètement dépassés et désemparés devant ces véhicules électriques qui leur posent énormément de problèmes. Les responsables commerciaux et d’ateliers m’ont avoué que VW avait en projet de réparer ces futures voitures à distance depuis Wolfsburg, comme de vulgaires ordinateurs !!! Bref, les consommateurs vont bientôt être pris en otage, techniquement, mais surtout financièrement !!! J’en fais actuellement l’amère expérience et je tiens à vous conseiller vivement de fuir ces voitures pour l’instant. Je suis pourtant convaincu que c’est bien l’avenir...c’est bien pour cela que j’avais franchi le pas. Pour info : ID3, Zoé,...même bazar.
