Only catching up now.! Good review as always. With these two guys, I am surprised how many Revenants we got by Wizkids, a monster we never had a mini of before MM3. Been reading Ravenloft 2E stories and sourcebooks of late, so glad to see more minis from this setting. It has a feel like those old 60ies-70ies Universal horror movies, and yeah 5E Van Richten himself has more than a passing resemblance to Peter Cushing's Van Helsing. :) The minis in this set work in any other setting too, though - Lady Wachter with her Imp can be an evil warlock or wizard, the toymaker can be a court jester, and the others warriors and nobles.
Btw, Lady Fiona Wachter is pronounced "wa'ht-er" - it's german for, well, guard or watchman. Barovia, as even the name suggests, is very much based on Germany, Bayern specifically, hence most names are also in german.

I am loving these sets would like to see them made for Past Adventures. Also I would like to see Simular Sets for Strixhaven Sets for each College.

Would be nice to get a similar set for other adventures, tyranny of dragons los to my mind. Back then the icons of the realms set didn't feature many of the important npc. But my personal favorite would be sets for Dungeon of the Mad Mage

that bard needs to use the promo toy minis from van richten's for flock of familiars , would be dope. Or maybe creation bard and use some ghost moving furniture minis lol
I genuinely like these minis and this set, on the whole, and as usual, this is a great showcase and review.
I really like the *idea* of these mini sets, but the price is a bit much for the quality on some of these (...and the fact that such minis are mostly sold as blind boxes also kinda tricks our brains into perceiving greater value, by way of comparison, so... there's that). Like, why is the Blinsky model and paint job SO nice, whereas Ismarck only kinda has a face at all?
Though it may have additional meanings or linguistic roots, the word "wachter" is a German word meaning "watcher" or "guard," so you actually started rather precisely where the creators apparently intended. In terms of pronunciation, Google Translate actually nails this one in a German to English enunciation. But as a native English speaker (which I am, as well), something more like "WOCK-ter" (pronounced like "walk", if that helps) or "VOCK-ter" might sound a bit more... ehm... accent-appropriate.
I pronounce Lady Wachter in a German Accent with a hard K, like VaKter - same way you say Tractor.
Giving her a bit of german accent too, and you have a stern woman, who take no BS. She is all business, punktuality and she has a plan.

Here is a little Gadof Blinsky inspiration - homebrew idea.
5 years ago Blinsky had a Wife and Son. Son was born with a disability, but at the age of 5, he was out alone, and tried to play with the other kids.
The other kids threw rocks at the disabled boy, and killed him.
Blinsky's wife, was a sweet woman, but inflicted with schitzofrenia, with multiple personalities. When their son died, she hung herself.
Gadof just lost all he loved, decided to take his own life. But another adventure party caught him in the act, and their Warlock convinced his Patreon to help Gadof, so he could still talk to his wife.
- So she is now "alive" via the dolls. Like a posession. This gave Gadof some comfort. But she still has multiple personalities, so there is a 25% random chance she appear as either the sweet wife, her drunk abusive father, as the son or an unknown "chucky" evil version.
- Also she cannot control which doll she is in, and skips from doll to doll. So at any given time, I roll 10% chance that if the group sees a doll, then she is posessing it. But only for a few seconds. So they see a doll move, wave, smile - and then its gone.. - Trust me, it freaks out your players.
Suddenly Blinsky has a deeper story. And I took it a step further.
Gadof is in secret building A lifelike wooden doll, to represent his son. He hides it out back, and it is not quite finished.
Yup, totally Pinocchio style. - I mean, when the CoS campaign steal both Baba Yaga, Hansel & Gretel (Irena/Izek), and not to mention Dradula, Van Helsing and Frankenstein, then why not :D
He also got lucky. Not knowing what it really was, he came by a scroll with a wish spell on it. He wished for something that could make the doll into his real son again.
And he got a small magical green gem. Wishes are tricky, so the closest solution was to teleport 1 of the (the missing) Wizard's of Wine Gem, and shrink it, and insert it into the dolls head as a brain.
Since the doll is not quite done, he has the gem in a drawer in his workshop. - with a chance for nosy players might detect magic and discover it.
The Blinsky story became a cool hit with my 2 groups, with a lot of great RP, as they slowly get his sad story.
Vladimir almost kill my Character in Argynvostholt. He hits like truck.
Fortunately, the party managed to calm the situation.
Can't have a Curse of Stradh-levania campaign without a Simon.

super pedantic correction and i swear i'm not trying to be rude but Wachter would be prounounced something like "Vehchter," at least as i understand it in german.
