Really? I find it kind of sad. He’s clearly obsessed with tearing a small company apart when they are one of many, many, many retailers ripping off their customers, and also not, trying to find a middle ground. So, while it was amusing the first three times, I find it worrying that the man cannot let this go. Is it simply because he’s exhibiting some kind of obsessive-compulsive behavior, or is it because he’s looking at his TH-cam analytics and seeing positive numbers from these videos?

As I've said before, I had 1 order with them. They were the cheapest for the GAMES I bought. And they were in good condition. Medium priced compared to past sales in other stores/sites. And I was happy with my purchase.
But, I saw their prices for consoles and would never pay that much. The fact that they come like that in the reviews is disgusting and ripping peeps off. I am totally onboard with you all exposing em.
Their sticker of warranty is illegal, FAKE, and a scare tactic.

SOME of the games at DKO are in good condition and at a fair price, but not all games are priced fairly. DKO's prices and conditions of their consoles however, I'd never purchase a console from them.
Lol say that to the pokemon crystal cartridge that's over two hundo and is ALWAYS on sale meaning it isn't actually on sale and is just a FOMO tactic.

And as a disclaimer: I NEVER have nor ever will buy from them. I almost always try to support local second-hand gaming stores around me. And if they don't have it cheap, I'll check ebay.

The DKOldies Saga continues, as it looks like their website is under attack. Being nosey, I spoke to an employee via their live customer service chat, and he said their team is ‘trying’ to fix the problem. As someone who used to build retail websites for a living, it looks like whoever attacked their website destroyed the website’s database. The website boots, but all the product pages are empty. It’s a database issue. If they don’t have a backup of their database, they are screwed. Lol
Does DKO strike as a company who would invest into backups? lol.
And it's no wonder why these people are being too friendly in their videos
I don't think DKOldies will ever change their practices unless they get legal action taken against them.
EDIT: Looks like they put an Arbitration and Class Action Waiver on their website saying that if you purchase from them that you waive your right to be apart of a class action lawsuit. What scummy practices. Why put that out if you aren't participating in suspect behavior.

When the class action waiver was included in a non-negotiable consumer contract of adhesion.
When the likely claims would involve a small amount of damages.
When the claims alleged a scheme to cheat consumers.
These are just some examples, and I'm sure actual lawyers/people with legal knowledge can correct me if I'm wrong

These videos came out at a really good time. I was planning to send my old 3DSs to them hoping they could fix them, and maybe buy some older consoles too so I could start collecting. Glad I saw all these videos before I did.
Likewise, mate, I got my first GameGear that needs restoring - faulty on-switch, etc, but I have seen a couple of these videos, and it's changed my opinion.
I can't remember who said this, but he made a great point. DKOldies has absolutely no choice but to double down because if they actually do admit to not refurbishing consoles, they would automatically be blasted with a class action lawsuit. The hole they have dug themselves with their deceit is just sad.

I really hope some console refurbishing business with some integrity comes along some day. Because I actually really want people to be able to get some real refurbished products.
Im afraid if you want that, for the most part you will have to probably find a place that is local. And a store that charges FAIR prices. Not constantly sits at their computer and tries to get the most expensive eBay price for a console. That is rare now as WATA and other game auctions have driven the prices thru the roof.
Or, get a half decent console, sit down with some TH-cam how to restore videos and do it yourself. I do some restorations for the locals where I live and unfortunately with the complexity of newer generation consoles, it can be expensive to completely "restore" to new or near new condition. But what DK Oldies does is disgusting. They "charge" for restoration, but do "NO" restoration. And they profit hoping people won't look inside their console.
Maybe the economics just don't work. Maybe it's simply not a profitable business at a fair price. I'm not saying I know that for sure, but I see no reason to assume that you COULD do this business with integrity.

I will admit, that’s my Xbox review video. I made one of those review videos for fun after I found their TikTok and was doing an impression of Joey while I opened my OG Xbox I bought. I was naive to prices being a new gamer and just enjoyed their content. I made that video in August of last year and if you go back to it on their page it’s a longer video that Hunter & Britt did a stitch with. Was I surprised to seeing it used again with everything going on now, no, not at all, but heavily edited. I was honest in the comment of the reposted video & said the outside came clean, shipping was fast, prices were high, & it booted right up and still works. I’ve never opened the console to check the inside. Not until I’ve seen all these reviews from you guys did I think to do that. Thank you by the way for really putting the consumer first. I thought that’s what they were priding themselves on but it’s not and these desperate attempts to double down on lies is very disappointing. Love your page and keep doing what you’re doing & thank you for being an honest, reliable source. I see the light now!

It's been fun following this. I first discovered DKOldies through yt shorts and just thought not much of them, thought they were cool i suppose. Then i saw RTUSA making a couple vids on them and then followed that series. And now watching this whole debacle blow up is great. I'm very excited to see where this goes.

Weird is when I had an email exchange with them. I mentioned that I had an entire bookshelf of old strategy guides. I asked if they would be interested in them. The person told me they dont deal in them. I noted in my email that I noticed they were becoming valuable on ebay. A few days later I got an email again. Unprompted... The email asked if I still had them and was I still interested in selling them. I was then asked to ship them all to them, and they would look them over and give me an offer on them.
Why were you not interested and then two days later you are reaching out to me and interested in them. Also, why would I pay to ship 600 lbs of books without any kind of a guarantee in price? Needless to say; it seemed strange and fishy to me. So I decided to hang onto them.
If DKoldies had proof of this, they would have a slam dunk defamation suit on their hands

If you've purchased a product from DKOldies you need to contact the office of the attorney general for PA and file a criminal complaint of fraud and conspiracy against the company. And, because they're presumably using the United States Postal Service to ship products and doing business across state lines, there may be a strong mail fraud case in federal court. But you absolutely have to contact the state of PA Attorney General and file a criminal complaint first to get the ball rolling. The more people who do this the better as it will encourage the office of the attorney general to take the matter seriously and get a more expedited response. This will also help prevent others from being taken advantage of moving forward.

Now apparently a former DKOldies employee commented on a previous video saying how Drew, the owner and the D in DKOldies, would only allow them to wipe it down with a wet wipe or something, and call it refurbish. I couldn't be paraphrasing or getting my wires twisted, but essentially they aren't allowed to open them up!

Just watched DKOldies latest packaging order short, their sending Brandon a PS2 Slim with a 3rd party controller. It’s probably not even refurbished.
Sure, I collect retro systems and still enjoy buying games for them. And I get the appeal of DK Oldies video shorts. But yeah, the prices are way too high, even for "getting a service". The non refurbished products is ridiculous.

As someone who doesn't live in the US but is interested in the controversy, it would be great to see a video of someone making comparisons of prices they get and prices in ebay nad stuff

Even in their response telling a customer that opening the console doesn't void the warranty, DKOldies still managed to give the person warranty policy information that violates the Magnuson--Moss Act. Self-repair (the main reason for the "no sticker rule"), tampering, or modification are not legal reasons for voiding a warranty. Now, if you are modifying or repairing with unofficial parts you are potentially giving them a legal defense for voiding a warranty, but they still have to demonstrate that whatever you did actually damaged the product. They cannot refuse to warranty the product simply because you repaired or modified it.
Spawn Wave recently spoke about DK oldies and it was pretty interesting because, prior to him starting a TH-cam channel, he ran a store where he refurbished and fixed gaming consoles. He agrees that what they're doing is selling used consoles and listing them as refurbished incorrectly.
You know if DKOldies wanted to mark up prices on their products without consequences then they should have gotten into the prebuild Pc's business.

Some consoles can take up to, two hours to clean. DKoldies needs to, hire more people. They can fix this. They take no responsibility.
Took a few hours to refurbish my 2nd hand Xbox One X. A lot of the time was waiting for the external plastics to dry. Also removing the caked thermal paste on the Scorpio chip. Reapplying paste and reassembly wasn'r too bad.
My 360 slim and PS3 superslim took even longer. Sadly I couldn't go as far as deliddinging the IHS for either (haven't got the skill) and had to settle for only replacing the dried up thermal paste on top. But its pretty involved work if done properly, and half the time I wouldn't trust a reseller to do the job properly anyway. I'm shocked DKoldies flat out just don't even bother for what they advertise and charge.
The only way they will take things seriously is if customers contact something like the Better Business Bureau. No amount of blocking would sweep things under the rug.
Better Business Bureau doesn't do anything about things like this they are just a rating system that some corporations buy their rating on. You need the FTC instead.
I've read in a few comment sections now there is actually a really big lawsuit going through on dk oldies just no one's talking about it cause it will screw with the case but they have all said in a month or 2 there will be somewhat of a shitstorm coming for them. Don't know how true it is but I hope it is cause can't wait for rich to cover it if it is true

@Unknown Unknown actually you can file complaints with the BBB. they do investigations along with ratings as you mentioned. And even with their ratings dkoldies can't affect their ratings by making youtube videos because their is no algorithm to manipulate. That was the point i was trying to make. And a company doesn't have to be associated with them in order to file complaints.
No, contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) since their deeds seem pretty close to, if not already, fraud. The BBB has no teeth to do anything about those sorts of misdeeds, but the FTC does.

I watched a video of someone opening an N64 for DKoldies. The console would not work and they had to open it up, clean it, put it back together, and it started working. And I know it wasn't staged because they had a second n64 (from their collection) out at the same time and showed the second one was working.

I ordered a refurbished good condition gameboy color from them. It showed up with scratches, dents, scuffs, and a mismatched battery cover. Got mad. Put batteries in it and it didnt turn on. Tried different batteries, didnt turn on. Emailed them and they sent me another that was better but not great. First and last order with them.

What's really boggling my mind about this whole situation is how no one caught onto this until recently this is remarkable. I mean I guess you wouldn't truly understand how widespread the situation was unless every single person was opening their console (like they are now) to look inside. I mean the idea that they've been doing this for literally years with absolute impunity is kind of insane and yet it doesn't surprise me knowing how the world is these days.
I mean this is one of those hiding in plain sight kind of scams like how did this go on for so long we're talkin not just over a decade but nearly two these guys have been in business like what is happening here?!
I feel they got away with it for so long because the average buyer doesn’t know anything about gaming hardware. Like Rich pointed out in a few videos, their main target demographic are people who use to play these games and wanna just buy them to relive memories, and are willing to part with the money to do that. They don’t think about opening it up to see if it’s really clean or refurbished, and any defects they find on the outside they are willing to forget. This type of customer base that’s willing to just buy and not question might also explain why DKO is having so many issues trying to damage control. They’ve never had anyone call them out before.
Think DKOldies did this to themselves with the TikToks and TH-cam shorts. Putting a spotlight on themselves and drawing attention to themselves. Then some gaming TH-camrs who actually know about the hardware decided to start testing their claims, and now it’s snowballing out of DKO’s control. They are being exposed as scammers and frauds, so they resort to trying to defame the people calling them out.
As a collector I did. Especially talking to Many small stores within an hr or 3 from weird unmarked emails they buy stuff with atleast in WNY an Pennsylvania area as I can tell. But they are offering decent prices to small game stores for products and hoping to profit off off nostalgia at first and monopoly second.

I got an N64 from DKoldies back I'm 2021. I remember opening the box in anticipation only to be a little confused as the console was dirty and grimey.

Watching the downfall of DKoldies has been very entertaining. Sucks for the people that got scammed by them but as an outsider looking in this situation is crazy.
I don’t understand how a company can be so scummy and everyone who is defending them better be getting paid because how can you be so far sighted to not see how screwed you’re getting!

I stand by my local retro store. They have most of what I want, for WAY cheap than DKOldies or eBay. Great video!
Lucky local stores are always the best!! I have a bit of a drive to get to a retro game store but it's so worth it
My local shop can be a little unfair with their prices, but it’s still LEAGUES ahead of DKOldies, and at least they are are upfront about what they are selling me.
They don’t lie about the issues with their consoles and will even sell broken ones at cheap prices for people with the knowledge to fix them
@@odoplaydead5012 It's probably not "unfair" it's just that a brick & mortar store has way more overhead than people selling on ebay. I think internet prices have given us a warped sense of how much things probably should cost.
