22 seasons in the majors, was the last active player (with Adrian Beltre) to have played in the 1990s and at 47 years old, he's still getting paid to play baseball. He credits his physical staying power to spending 12 hours a day picking coffee beans as a kid. What a movie his life story would make.
It’s like cricket but instead of 2 wicket spaces there are the 4 bases around the “diamond”, & you have to either complete a lap around the diamonds or hit it out of the playing area to get a home run
The Mets should bring him back, if nothing else as a reliever during blowouts (he is 47 years old, after all.) The morale boost alone among players and fans would be worth it.
And the funny thing is when he first joined the league, dude was as fit as any other baseball player. But he realized he threw harder during the preseason when he gained weight from the offseason. So he turned that into his power
I still miss Bartolo so much. Always made me so happy every time he was at the mound (and at the plate for that matter)! High energy guy and so glad he was a Met! LGM!
A very athletic unathletic man . A hell of a pitcher and loved by the fans and his team mates! One of MLBs great personalities! Ya gotta love Bartolo! Can’t wait to see what he does in an old timers game in the future!!
Great video Wonderful inspiration for kids! The anouncers and roars of the crowd are simply magical! I agree this video is a great storyboard to turn this into a treatment for a proper baseball ⚾ script of his amazing life story.
Never followed baseball..(besides knowing about Bambino the great) I started with the(Ichiro 3rd base throw) video from recommendation. Now I get this (Bartolo moments). So far I liked what I see and am intrigued now because of these 2 players..👍👍
NOBODY could turn a triple into a double like this man.
LOL!!!
Greatest comment ever about Colon
😂
I was at that game, I remember it. we were laughing our heads off
Sexiest man is sports
Bartolo Colon:
The single best argument against the universal DH

Absolutely!
Un orgullo dominicano lo es Bartolo
His wives must be beaming with pride
As an Australian, I have no understanding of baseball, but I would pay money to watch this guy.
Yeah. I'm from Germany. Same here

@@The104th_Wolf_Pack 😂😂
his homerun is the greatest moment in sports history.
It's where grown men cried
It is awesome, but I’ve never really understood why
@@tigers2026same lmao
@@tigers2026it was awesome just cause it was him and he had never hit a home run before. People love him
It's not the greatest moment in sports history 😅
I love how the "Best of Bartolo" includes a sequence of the play-by-play discussing "....has he made it to first base this year?"
You can definitely tell that he was having fun out there.
The wonderful thing about him is that he is ALWAYS having fun. It is still a game for him.
He was a 47-year-old man who felt like he was 22
The pure joy in the commentators' voices for the home run says it all. Bartolo is a national treasure
Bartolo transcends rivalry. I am a dirty cardinals fan and he is absolutely a sweet prince /treasure to the game.
I think even Padres fans were gleeful for Bartolo's homer. That's how significant it was.
Repeatedly seeing the home run never gets old.
I usually go back and watch it every few months
Only the padres lol
Legend has it that he's STILL rounding the bases!
The shot heard 'round the buffet!
The Mets should bring him back, if nothing else as a reliever during blowouts (he is 47 years old, after all.) The morale boost alone among players and fans would be worth it.
Please we need this
Ñ
Let him walk all the way in from the bullpen with the song “Wild Thing” blaring over the loudspeakers…..

Or as a DH.
NO ONE can lose his helmet while swinging the bat more often than this guy!
We were blessed to have him on the Mets!
A last run for him from mets
He was a blessing to the Majors
Bartolo Colon got a walk-in standing double on ICHIRO.... cant be a whole lot of people that can say that.
and he got to first base on an infield hit with Yadi behind the plate. Dude is unreal lol
Bart is one of those guys who truly plays the game for fun and loves every minute of it.
Bartolo colon is the best example of the peak performance of man no one can compare to the best man in the world
I miss him and Wilmer
Same
I saw wilmer have a two hr game live
Don’t forget Murphy and Ruben
Yes this was a great year to watch the Mets
@@tk421222 yeah loved Reuben
The sheer joy in his teammates says a lot about how much joy he brings to the game
Bartolo is my spirit animal!
The home run never gets old.
This is one of the few guys that absolutely EVERYBODY loves... even if he's on the opposing team your face still lights up for Bartolo!!
For a dude who looks like he hasn't exercised since the day he was born...Bartolo was shockingly athletic in certain ways
And the funny thing is when he first joined the league, dude was as fit as any other baseball player. But he realized he threw harder during the preseason when he gained weight from the offseason. So he turned that into his power

Bartolo Colon is the embodiment of that Uncle who actually went Pro.
He is immortal
He is not. God bless.
Yes Jonah... the man will live forever 😊

As a padre fan im honored to have bartolos home run at petco park
"Looks like Colon got to first on a fielder's choice"
"Yeah the catcher chose not to field it"
Yadi was like "It's Colon, I've got time. I've got time. I've got... DAMN IT!!!"
I never seen a man so relaxed while playing the game
Big Sexy was immortal i know its not gonna happen but i would love to see him stay on the HOF ballot for a couple years

Can bartolo have a documentary on his life?
That would be awesome !!!

It was fun watching B.Colon play with us he really did have fun out there always
He is a national landmark
Red Sox fan here; How can you not love Bartolo Colon? Seriously
Rare footage of Colon dropping the bat when running the bases
How could anybody not love Bartolo Colon?? It was like watching Moe from the 3 Stooges playing big league ball.
I think you meant Curley
I love how most of these are him hitting.
One of my favorite players as a Mets fan
His behind the back toss to first is one of my favorite plays I’ve ever seen.

This video is cute, but it ignores what kept Colon in the majors for 22 years. HE COULD PITCH. Colon's career record was 247-188.
Bartolo's home run and his behind the back flip are two of my all time favorite Mets memories.
We miss ya Big Sexy
One of the best mlb players of all times
Took you guys long enough.
Lovin it
Best video by the Mets ever, we need Bart back
When he hit that home run I was very surprised he didn't carry his bat with him as he trotted around the bases. Lol.
3:10 This man is such a legend he even had another legend, Ichiro, on rollerskates 🤣
I miss Bartolo Colon... as a Mets fan he did what he could for us...
0:56 the best moment in baseball history
The excitement and voice crack from the announcer as if he just hit a walk off homerun in game 7 in a World Series!
This man would live forever as a legend
I watched Bartolo’s entire career and I would describe it as great baseball talent mixed with oldschool WWF antics and a John Belushi SNL sketch.
Pretty damn accurate
@@JoeBat95 Thanks JV. Take care and long live baseball.

I didn't think a perfect thumbnail could exist and then I happened across this video.
Este hombre es genio y figura hasta la sepoltura
I'm not even a Mets fan, but how can you not love Bartolo Colon?
This is what a Champion looks like in life!
I miss this guy so much. He's much more athletic and skilled than he looks.
Bartolo Colon should be enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown NY, for simple fact no one ever had more fun playing the game.
Bartolo othani
This man must be a favorite of the god of baseball.
Bartolo Colon is the reason that baseball highlight films even exist.
Love this guy,no matter who your team is,you can’t help but like him. Even with his size,he still runs better than Pujols lol.
Legend
@3:35 Thinking about possibly having to run to home.
The home run was epic
Missing Baseball. Missing my Mets

I don't usually upvote MLB videos, but Colon deserves at least that much. Love this guy.
That “it’s outta here!!!” Really came from his toes

Baseball loves him as much as he loves baseball
Despite all of his many talents, the greatest thing about this man is his glorious, magnificent body!
How is it possible to find "The Best of..." this man? Isn't it all the best?
The Mets need to retire his #40
