Just got out of Wonka, I LOVED it! It definitely keeps up a lot of the magic and charm the Paddington movies have and this movie is really just so sweet and fun!
Never in my life have I ever been glad to be proven wrong about a movie. Wonka is a lovely movie with good songs, great pacing and enormous heart handled excellently by Paul King. Timothée Chalamet was great in the role and the movie overall is perfect for the holidays. 8/10 I'm really happy with Warner Bros rn. Aquaman 2 better not be sht.
I saw Wonka last night, the original Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder is my favorite of the three movies we’ve gotten. This one hits hard with some of the themes, but I found it too heavy with the Poor vs. Rich narrative. It just seemed like it beat it into your head over and over again. The musical side I felt Chalamet did well but I would’ve liked to have seen the movie focus more on his struggles and his pursuit of the chocolate factory we see in Gene Wilder’s version.
Growing up watching the 71' movie everyday on VHS in the 90s and not liking the Depp one much, I expecting to pretty much hate this film. But man I enjoyed the shit outta this I can't lie.
I kinda think of Willy Wonka as like a Slasher movie for kids. Think about it, they are picked off, one by one at the factory, even the guy telling Charlie at the beginning of how no one ever comes out, kinda like your Crazy Ralph character, and once the kids are picked off, you don't see them again. Kinda makes that tunnel scene even more intense, huh? 😉 But as for this, yeah, I am curious to check it out, so I'm sure even if I'm unable to get to the theaters for it, I still will at some point see it. Thank you for the review, Cody.
I loved this movie. It was really delightful and I liked the music as well. I was smiling the whole time. It got me in the feels in the end also. Well done movie.
I was hoping it would be good.. I probably will be taking my family to Wonka as well. Pro tip.. If you have a Cinemark movie theater around you then you can sign up for their membership on the app and its like $9.99 a month and you get a "credit" (ticket) every month and savings on your popcorn/food and drinks. Sure it's about the same as buying a ticket but I don't even notice the $10 getting taken out each month and I just let it build up until I have enough tickets and then we pick a movie to go see.
I also like musicals and the main reason I wanted to watch wonka was because it was a musical also this is thr first time I saw a non disney musical movie at the cinema I saw it on December 27th
There is actually one actor I do recognize the most in this movie and that is Roan ackerson the guy who played Mr Bean is in this film which I will tell you Roan ackerson is definitely one of the more funnier comedians cuz I've always liked his work on Mr Bean.
I'm seeing this film either tomorrow or monday. I love both the wilder and depp versions of Wonka; and I loved what Paul King did with the Paddington movies. After I see the film i'll check out your ranking because even i'm sort a curious as to where this film lies in my own personal ranking along with as to where does it lie on my ranking on movies based on Roald Dahl books (I already know my top 3).
I don't know man, I'm about sick of watching Willy Wonka movies that aren't a sequel to the original and are just reboots of a film that people have already seen on 2 separate occasions
Actually the plaid shirt makes you look more like a serial killer. As you were trying to blend in. I haven't seen it yet. I just wanna know if Timothy does a good "stop, don't, come back.". Sometimes the director knows better than the book writer. Could you imagine Stephen King's version of The Shining?
I hate musicals but I thought the acting was great but the story line and plot was so boring and meaningless, It was cast amazingly though I thought. Just wish they dove more into how he became the Willy Wonka we see in the original who's more of a mysterious character, I feel the plot was more about Noodle than Wonka. I feel like they missed a massive opportunity for this to be a really really good movie.
I'm with you when it comes to musicals. They don't really click with me either There are only 4 exceptions to this: - A Nightmare Before Christmas - Classic Lion King - Classic Mulan - "Once More With Feeling" Buffy Season 6
Will you do a review of “When Evil Lurks”? Or do a short about your thoughts on it? Was very well done imo and actually scared me unlike a lot of horror movies these days lol
I think it was in the video he did of ranking all the movies from the fest. Because I remember him talking about it and that's why I searched it out to watch. I'm glad I did too because I enjoyed it.
The willy wonka films never feel like musicals to me...the songs always just go with the scene to where i dont notice it's a musical....well, all movies have soundtracks as well... just not the dancing numbers.
I am sorry but I love the Chocolate Cartel. They were acting like a real drug cartel just because his product was better. The scene when they talked about Noodles origin was true villainy. Lmao
😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks, Cody! Happy Holidays and I hope you get everything on your wish list! I didn’t even think of this movie, at all. Did you enjoy your break from the blood, guts and boobies? I think I will put this on my list. Maybe I need a break from “grown up stuff” ! Have a wonderful holiday, eat all the good food that gives you a blissful food coma and know you’re appreciated😊😊😊😊😊😊😊! Take care, ok?
Heey cody i am a regular viewer of your channel I enjoyed the story idea for saw XI. That's not the reason I'm messaging you. I just ran into a relatively unknown horror slasher that would make a great review. It covers a lot of the things you say a slasher villain should do. It is called Husk released in 2011 Please watch it and if you enjoyed it like me it warrants a review..! Rock on dude
Glad Cody and his family enjoyed it and had a good Christmas movie time. Hard pass for me though. Willy Wonky didn't need a remake/prequel/sequel and the Gene Wilder film is perfect as is.
Cody has his "my wife put my clothes out" review up. I love it.
Yep. "We're getting dressed and going to the steak house like normal people!"
I was thinking the same thing as well! What a cutie😂
Honey…. We are going to Applebees!
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂 great comment haha
Just got out of Wonka, I LOVED it! It definitely keeps up a lot of the magic and charm the Paddington movies have and this movie is really just so sweet and fun!
Seeing Cody wearing a shirt like that was...surprising. I immediately thought "so what's the occasion?"
It was laundry day 😂
“Family fun for a change, take a break from violent kills and boobies” bars right there #GiveCodyAMusical

I agree. I thought Wonka was going to be good but I was really impressed by it. I loved Chalamet’s version of Pure Imagination.
@@cooperwolfe5478 Yeah. That song is great.
Best opening to a Cody Leach review ever!
Watching Cody review kids movies is so amusing to me for some reason 😂
Same for me too
Honestly the villains in this film reminded me of fantastic Mr fox, and I wasn't complaining
I agree. I knew it felt familiar, but like you said I think the film benefited from that.
I saw Wonka last night, the original Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder is my favorite of the three movies we’ve gotten. That opening song was hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Also this movie is FANTASTIC!🤩
I loved this one! A great holiday surprise!
Growing up watching the 71' movie everyday on VHS in the 90s and not liking the Depp one much, I expecting to pretty much hate this film. But man I enjoyed the shit outta this I can't lie.
Absolutely loved every frame of Wonka, it’s pure delight
His singing at the start was so good ngl
fr I can't wait to hear his singing in a complete unknown
Cody singing pure imagination 😂

Explains why it scared me as a kid
I loved this movie. It was really delightful and I liked the music as well. I was smiling the whole time. It got me in the feels in the end also. Well done movie.
I like this as a prequel. I hope they do not do the remake, please no! I think they could do another in between movie though.
they can do a sequel to this film to continue the origin story of wonka
Have you watched Anna and the apocalypse? I’m also not a big fan of musicals but I was pleasantly surprised when I finally got around to watching it
Was truly impressed by Chalamet's performance
Cody can sing??? Pleasantly surprised 😮
I was NOT expecting that opening, LOL.
So asking for a 31 on 31 of musical to movie adaptations is out of the question 😂
I'm excited to see this one.
I’d love to see you do acoustic guitar covers of classic metal or grunge music. That will probably never happen but you have a great voice my man.
I loved the intro Cody, that is without a doubt one of your best intros in my opinion, please do more, and i love your review, again keep it up.
Are you a fan of Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd?
I think it's great! 👍👍
I think 2 of the 3 villains wouldve made more sense. But its one of my top 5 films of the year.
Cody’s well-dressed arch nemesis: Cody Bleach
I was hoping it would be good.. I probably will be taking my family to Wonka as well. Pro tip.. Cody, you have a beautiful voice. I was very impressed
I'm looking forward to see the new wonka movie
I love musicals, so I enjoyed the musical numbers, but otherwise I agree with almost everything. Very nice reaction.😊
I also like musicals and the main reason I wanted to watch wonka was because it was a musical also this is thr first time I saw a non disney musical movie at the cinema I saw it on December 27th
The acid trip tunnel scene in the original definitely counts as horror.
I wasn’t a fan of musicals either until I watched “Seven Brides For Seven Brothers “. It has a lot of tongue in cheek humor. Give it a try.
Voice of an angel 😢
Thé intro 😂😂❤
It was a real solid soundtrack, I thought it was a fun time!
We need more Cody musical notes 😂
Cody got his Sunday's Best on for some reason.
There is actually one actor I do recognize the most in this movie and that is Roan ackerson the guy who played Mr Bean is in this film which I will tell you Roan ackerson is definitely one of the more funnier comedians cuz I've always liked his work on Mr Bean.
It's Rowan Atkinson not Roan Ackerson
@@marchionessamoretto7326 Thank you for corrected me on it I tried to pronounce the actor's name right.
@@joshmangamer255 no problem
Cody sings in the beginning of his video
Me: ENCORE! ENCORE!! ENCORE!!!
“Take a break from violent kills and boobies”? Couldn’t be me!💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻
Cody, your singing at the beginning made me shed a tear.
I'm seeing this film either tomorrow or monday.

So cool to see a PG version of Cody Leach 😂
Probably the funniest intro you've done all year!!!🤣🤣🤣
Happy Holidays, Cody!!🎄🎁🎆🎇✨
Dude those vocals, almost threw some panties on the stage lol well done
Alternate Universe Cody sings and wears plaid 👀. Who knew? 😂
I don't know man, I'm about sick of watching Willy Wonka movies that aren't a sequel to the original and are just reboots of a film that people have already seen on 2 separate occasions
As soon as you said "musical" I knew this wasnt for me 😂 I saw a poster in my city and was curious... But nope, not for me 😅
Sing it Cody!!! Clean cut Cody I dig it, mane
Top tier opening!
Try West Side Story, A hell of a musical Cody :)
I saw it. Didn’t do much for me.
@@CodyLeachYT i love the original, haven't seen the new one.
Saw this movie yesterday and I enjoyed it. 10/10 for me.
The intro was just 🤌🏼
Cody in a button up feels off hahahaha

Intro on point 😂😂
Merry Xmas Cody great review dude kudos from New Zealand 🤘 👊
Thumbs up for the review and your singing. Happy Holidays Cody to you and your family!
I prefer the Gene Wilder version
Why aren’t we ALL talking about his iconic song at the beginning 🤣😭
I hate musicals but I thought the acting was great but the story line and plot was so boring and meaningless, It was cast amazingly though I thought. oh, cody got some pipes on him
Catchy intro, Cody. 🤣
whens your next john carpenter review coming out, just a suggestion can you rank kubrick films with perhaps a review series
Props to this man that could make the COOLEST and most catchy intro for a family movie movie review video ✊
👌 love the intro
7 brides for 7 brothers is a good one imo

Wait you like the 71 jolly fever iver the dark adaption with Johnny Depp? Surprising lol
Almost was like who the hell is this guy when i saw the thumb nail
Hay man love your video would love to see your review Tremors and hidden please and keep up the great work

It was in his October or November reviews I think.
I think it was in the video he did of ranking all the movies from the fest.
Because I remember him talking about it and that's why I searched it out to watch. I'm glad I did too because I enjoyed it.
Hahahahaha my boy went to church today yesss lawd
The fit suits you big dawg. Hope you having a good day
Hard to beat, "Pure Imagination" and i don't like musicals. OG Willy Wonka and Wizard of Oz is it for me.
The willy wonka films never feel like musicals to me...the songs always just go with the scene to where i dont notice it's a musical....well, all movies have soundtracks as well... just not the dancing numbers.
the 2005 one definitely wasn't much of a musical film while both the 1971 and New 2023 version are both marked as musical movies
I am sorry but I love the Chocolate Cartel. They were acting like a real drug cartel just because his product was better. The scene when they talked about Noodles origin was true villainy. Lmao
Cody I see you 🎶 🎵
Can u do a video ranking of the episodes of Dexter New Blood? Ive always wanted to know
Did you just come from a family BBQ?
Wow cody you look very smart❤👏
Your singing was genuinely charming ❤

I give it a 1/10
@@face-diaper did you get reimbursed? You need your money back.
Cody what about the Goofy movie that could be considered a musical
Hard pass, Sick of Hollywood living off nostalgia for better movies and prequels are mostly pointless.
Glad Cody and his family enjoyed it and had a good Christmas movie time. Hard pass for me though. Willy Wonky didn't need a remake/prequel/sequel and the Gene Wilder film is perfect as is.
Solid movie but It felt like there was no plot
Just got back with from this shit show with my niece. I sat next to a mentally ill person. It was a horror show of its own making
Everyone knows it was Gene Wilder who made it iconic. You can remake it 100 times and will never have the charm of the original, so STOP REMAKING IT!
