To everyone that is asking how this is possible on stock rods here is your answer.... big turbo takes longer to spool so he doesnt have a tq spike. smaller turbos spool real quick so you get all the tq almost immediately and that is what kills the stock rods. If you pay attention to the dyno graph you can see the hp and tq dont spike the gradually build so the rods are fine. everythign else i the engine is good to about 450whp.
also torque maxes much earlier than hp. so if you tune it you could get a huge hp spike at the end and your max tq would still be pretty low at lower rpms.
Appropriately sized turbos dont break shit. That big ass turbo can easily break shit, when big turbos spool they hit hard. A turbo that spools good and has a good manifold setup will work just fine.
I own 1.8t aeb with tiny hybrid turbo (k04 compressor and rs6 turbine) running at 1.5 bar which produces roughly 300hp. It spools literally instantly and torque spikes at its highest just before 3k. Rods are still intact after 30 000 kilometers. Oh yeah and running on ethanol ofc.
@@teronuppi5388 some motors like abuse. My turbo 4.0 jeep cherokee made 300whp on a hot day at 13 psi, 91 pump gas, and some water meth that i didnt tune for lol.

Man, that's amazing! I never thought the stock bottom-end on a 1.8t could handle over 300 whp! Nice work and setup for sure! Sub'd
It's the torque that bends the rods if you have laggy turbo for more top end your fine running this power on stock block plus a good tune helps
Great setup man! Hopefully next summer I can start my big turbo build. I Probably won’t go with a massive turbo, I like to keep the power low-mid range.
Thanks! And thats awesome!
its VDubbb! xD
The bigger the turbo, the safer the motor is, a big turbo doesn’t torque spike, making it possible to run this power on stock rods. Small turbos spool fast and create a torque spike when boost comes in hard, bending rods.
Stock rods are fine because that thing makes peak torque at like 6500, nice runs
Building a awm 1.8 build. AEB Head on a 06a block. bored bigger, wiseco pistons, forged rods, super tech valves, super tech valve springs and retainers, ARP mains, head bolts, cam bolt, crank bolt, flywheel bolts. Ie manual, timing belt tensioner kit, r8 coil packs, Gt3071r, Bosch 044 fuel pump, 620cc injectors, meth injector, tuned on 93. These rods are well known to only be able to handle 350whp. I'm shocked they haven't bent. You're treading thin water man 😂 there's a nice write up of all the hp these parts can take, I'd highly recommend taking a look some time! The main weak points are rods, exhaust valves, and timing. (crank dampener bolt, cam gear bolt) these exhaust valves are hollow and like to explode with high hp and rpm.
I love to see a well tuned car! *Subscribed*
Ladies and gentlemen, here is your replacement for displacement!....my first jump into the turbo4 life was with a 1.8T aeb.
Very nice! I love the intercooler setup!
But does it have a/c

You can turbo 5 cyl engine
Hell yeah! My 1.8t just made 363HP to the wheels with stock rods!
What all did you do to it? I'm starting a build on one soon, and realistically only want 200 tops out of it.
Dishton You can reach close to 200 hp just by having a 1.8t mapped

How is this possible and what are the torque numbers, I would assume timing is pulled on the top end to keep torque under 350
It made 415whp and 378torque on 27psi, but that was about 1 year ago I have it set at 36psi now and about 18 degrees of timing at peak torque
hp_enthusiast but I doubt it picked up any torque, what size turbo are you running

How did you tune the car and who tuned it? I just got done with my big turbo kit on my Passat and Im now looking to get it tuned.

wow stock ve 1.8 long block how !?? I'm so confused how?? have you not blown this motor up that's alot of power & crazy torque!! sounds good on boost ; ) I'm learning here lol
What size turbo are you running. And what are your torque numbers. And is the motor completely stock unopened are you at least running arp head studs. What computer are you running. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming.
the turbo is a Borg Warner s257sxe 7670. and the engine is completely stock with 117k miles on it only thing that has been off if the valve cover. I've only had it on the dyno once it made 415whp and 378 torque. As far as tuning, it's a stock computer that a local guy street tuned for me!

is it the 1.8t 150hp engine originally yes?
This is dope!! So you're running completely stock block with everything else but the turbo and injectors?
the only thing that is stock it the (longblock) the head , pistons ,rods , crank. everything else is custom!

How long did this setup last and is it seriously on stock rods because from everything I’ve been reading the stock rods can’t handle that much power anyway you could give me more info on this please
Stock rods can’t handle a quick spooling turbo... Get you a big turbo so the boost kicks in later in the rpm range and your good on the 1.8t 👌

Nice ride but I have a question..
I own an golf mk IV 1.6 sr stock engine and I have the same problem as you in the beginning when you started the engine it almost stalled but then 800rpm idle.
I think it does that because it has big injectors and is on e85
The engine will give in. Have fun whilst you can before the head blows off with “stock components”
8000 miles on the big turbo setup

A lot of vw/audi engines hold a pretty good amount of power

you could probably get it done for around 5,000 just for the turbo kit clutch and differential. but I have way more than that into it now
How does your hood close with those pipes like that? Lol
