  • In this video I share some breakthroughs and clarifications on the letting go technique as taught by David R. Hawkins. Specifically on surrendering the juice that your ego is getting out of a situation, rather than just surrendering the situation itself. Enjoy!
    Letting Go - amzn.to/2XA2VpY - Good intro book
    The Main Trilogy - amzn.to/2XCyBL9 - amzn.to/2xF3VcK - amzn.to/2XyJcC9 - That is Power vs. Force, Eye of the I, and I: Reality and Subjectivity. Best to be read in order.

    Knowing and naming the feelings or knowing that it feeds the ego is not the letting go technique. Feeling the feeling is what releases the feeling. It's not an intellectual exercise.

    Dude this is really good! It's funny cause I was listening to "success is for you" by Dr. Hawkins yesterday and he was talking about how sometimes we hear something we already know and even though we've heard it before when a certain person says it in that moment it sinks in, and how that's a sign that at that moment the level of "power" (in Dr. Hawkins' terms) of that person created a receptivity for that idea in the listener and it sunk in and that just happened with this, I had heard doc talk about the ego juice we get out of negative emotions but hearing you explain it just made it finally sink in. Appreciate it brother, keep up the great work!

      @@calumx : : Hi, I still don’t get it. May I please ask you for more details about the juice/payoff? Let’s say we hate someone for ruining our one chance at something we want. What do we get out of the hate - that we get to say the failure is caused by them and not our own fault? If so, how do we let go of that when it’s a fact? I’ve been in a modern Buddhist sect where the monk asked the congregants whose fault is it, and they together answer “Our own!” While it’s a practice of not blaming others, it’s also logically unsound, as in some situations we can be the innocent victim.
      With your example, your juice is getting to say you’re right and they’re wrong. How do you let that go, though, when you ARE right?
      With your other example - I have a lot of anxiety right now - what satisfaction could our ego be getting from that?

    • @eduardagenbach9698
      @eduardagenbach9698 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@prezrickard hey .... ask yourself.... What am I getting out of holding onto this anxiety .... the answer is easy .... more anxiety? The next question is .... Do I want to hold onto this anxiety and cause myself more suffering or can I just notice the feeling .... feel it and let it go? Because the truthful answer is .... you are not getting anything but suffering when you hold onto any negative emotions ..... so the question.... what am I / my ego getting out of this .... is not really a question of who is right or who is wrong but is this feeling something I want to continue with .... remember .... we have but two choices in life .... do I listen to the voice of ego (which is suffering) or to the voice of the Holy Spirit which is peace? Anxiety is the ego..... so ask the question again .... what am i getting out of feeling anxiety .... the answer is simple ... more anxiety.... Is this something I want to continue with .... No .... hand it over to the Holy spirit and say to yourself.... I choose peace instead in this moment .... Peace means you can feel the feeling of anxiety but love yourself anyway .... the feeling will go away .... What the ego is getting out of feeling anxiety is feeling more empowered because of the fear it creates .... as long as the ego creates fear the longer it will stay strong but once you realize you have a choice and you do! .... its goodbye ego and hello peaceful life .... the ego does not know what Love or peace is ... that's why it creates fear and anxiety and suffering ..... we've just learned to believe the ego instead of our true self which is Forgiveness and Love ....

      But there is only one paragraph explaining the actual technique. The rest of the book is just a description of different emotions from Hawkins’ perspective, as well as chapters about all the great things that happen when someone “let’s go”. I wish it went deeper into the actual mechanism. But maybe he did this on purpose, so we could each find our own way to let go...

    Have read Letting Go probably like a dozen times and have been practicing the technique for about 2-3 years and I found this video super helpful. I love docs works so much. Regarding the different tone of the book: I remember hearing that the manuscript was written in the 80s and published not long before his death. So it was written by him, but from before he got to writing his later stuff. I think it was written around the era that he was promoting the Sedona method. If you search 'David R Hawkins Sedona Method Interview' then you'll find a 1.5hr video where he's talking about this technique from a different angle, its a good listen. I love the satsang series, too. His personality was incredibly charming and heartwarming. Btw all the stories in the book are all about him in case ya didn't know :) Thanks for the video

    So last night I realised the feeling and then I tried thinking about a fear and my brain wanted to run away from it. But i sat with it and sometime crazy happened. I by passed the panic stage by keeping on at the feeling. It activated the right hand side of my brain. As I stuck with it. A bit like pushing a turd out. It eventually happens. Patience is key here. Then I addressed about 5 fears. Each one fading more easily. So far this is one of the coolest techniques for my condition.

      MariaPreneur you let the energy run, without calling it any names, trying to make it different, judging it nor trying to reason about why you are having that feeling/sensation nor feeling guilty about it. You just ask God for help to surrender to it. It normally rises and comes down. There could be total silence and stillness. But you don't think about what's happening or what's going to happen. You do nothing. Your focus is on the sensation and not on the thoughts about it. If anything, you ask for more of it so we can get it over with but you are nit impatient about it either. You just SURRENDER. You can't die. Death is impossible. There is nothing to fear. God takes care of all so don't worry. Be fearless to fear. Don't care about it. Trust the unknown.

    What does surrender feel like on emotional level (vs intellectual)? What does it mean to surrender?

    • @mattgarrett3768
      @mattgarrett3768 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Surrender is when you move from wanting to change something to observing it with no effort to change or manipulate it in any way. You’ll find that whatever you want to change will then dissolve if you surrender to it enough. I find it best to surrender to emotions. Once you learn to welcome them and stop resisting/wanting to change them, one by one they start to dissolve until it’s a habit and happens naturally. This takes a lot of time and practice so if you find yourself surrendering to a feeling for a while, don’t get frustrated. Just let it run it’s course further and even stop trying to get unstuck! Hope it helps

      I would recommend reading his other books. You can start with Power vs Force, then Eye of the I, then I: Reality and Subjectivity. So good

      Hello Farah, This book is life-changing and the best of its kind. If you want to learn more about this technique which is also called "Releasing". Check out the "Release technique" and the "Sedona method". Both of these teachings and the letting go technique comes from a man called Lester Levenson but sadly Hawkins fails to give him credit in the letting go book.

      When emotions arise (e.g. anger, sadness, pity, shame, grief), I’ll do any combination of the following.
      - Hit it with awareness
      - Feel it fully
      - Say “it’s not me”
      - Get curious about it
      - Observe and locate the sensations
      - Surrender into acceptance
      - Give it my full attention
      - Acknowledge there is no free will anyway
      - Notice that they are internal to me and not “out there”
      I hope this helps.

    David hawkins work is Amazing ,i recently saw one website on google which critisized David R hawkins and judging him on his muscle testing work on power vs force , what is your opinion, have you tried muscle testing kinesiology?

    • @calumx
      @calumx  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have tried muscle testing. When I first tried I was able to do it successfully. That was years ago and since then I can not. Muscle testing is legit. I think where Hawkins went wrong is that he explains it in such a way to make it seem that everyone can do it and that it is so easy. The problem is that if you have even the slightest interest in outcome, or thought about what the result is, it won't work. You have to be 100% detached and scientific, and I think he underestimated how hard that would be for your average person. When I try to muscle test something I often care about what the result is. So I think it is legit but it takes a special person to be able to do it successfully

      @@calumx Thank you so much for clarification bro, nobody responded to this issue. i was about to start power vs force then people were giving negative feedback and sharing negative energy by comparing Dr Hawkins work with Dr john diamond and claiming that Dr Hawkins all books contains false test results. Power vs Force is a great way to understand the scientifical basis for a lot of the ideas covered by David. It was the first book I read from him, and coming from a very reason based mindset cultivated by school and college, it was a total life changer because in a sense it spoke my language. I find it beautiful that chaos theory and quantum mechanics have had such important discoveries at very close proximity time wise to Hawkin's work.
      I wanna thank you for your insight on the letting go technique and muscle testing. Very spot on. Good luck on your journey :)

    What “juice” do you think my ego gets out of jealousy? For instance, if I’m jealous of a sexual relationship between a friend and another friend.

    • @amaraLoveLife
      @amaraLoveLife 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was wondering the same thing. I think when I get jealous of a friend I try to counsel myself by thinking of ways my life is better than theirs. Then I guess that’s the “juice”... twisted :/

    • @jeffs2518
      @jeffs2518 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amaraLoveLife Hey Amara. I think you're spot on. Any "juice" is always ego-based, and has to have one person as "superior" or "inferior." I believe as we allow ourselves to feel the juice and let go of it, we are able to move up to more win-win and non-comparative thinking.
      I had a gut-wrenching evening dealing with my jealousy (strong stomach pains and intense heartache), but by allowing the feelings and not trying to numb them, a strong sense of peace did come over me.
      I think we can use all these feelings as doorways to emotional freedom!
      It's not always easy tho, that's for sure!!

    • @ElectricPhantasmagoria
      @ElectricPhantasmagoria 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The juice of dependence on another for a source of a payoff. The “getting,” of a satisfaction from the exclusiveness being interfered. The victimizing of how I suffer because I’m at a loss without a person I attributed special qualities to to make me happy. Owning that projection of completeness by needing another person. A perceived lack can be a frustration, anger. “How I lack but they get what I want,” is a way of having a very definite attachment and in some way to control that outcome, even a never expressed to the others and only quietly felt. The ego juices it by dropping responsibly for its projection of that sexual relationship. What would happen if you had that sexual relationship? Would there not be at times a fear of loss of it? You can see letting go of those fears and resistances to feeling uncomfortable about bad feelings can greatly lessen anxiety. The letting go if done continuously becomes more and more subtle and whole areas of life open up with unthought of freedom. That is not to say pain wouldn’t be felt by the ego at someone you like being in an already sexual relationship, but hey maybe you’ll have a chance with someone else. Negative emotions are common after all aren’t they? What do you expect of yourself? You’re not a spiritual master so why guilt yourself about it?

  • @chad4970

    What does the ego get out of feeling guilt , shame or regret?

    • @calumx
      @calumx  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well there is a lot to unpack there and it would probably depend on your situation. I will say something about guilt. Guilt could be the ego's way of punishing you. When you are guilty it is a painful feeling that you can wallow in. It is very juicy. The ego gets to have a field day criticizing and shaming you over what you did and how it was wrong. So to answer your question on that, I think that the ego craves significance, attention, and control over your life. Guilt is a great way to achieve that and again, there is likely a sick, inner ego satisfaction that it gets out of torturing you with the guilt. Hope this helps

      The ego get's your attention on believing it exists and it is you, the thinking mind. Negativity is what the ego feeds on. It's a learned software program that creates the illusion of separation. Don't give it attention. You are not your body/mind.

  • @user-wl4vu2cf5h
    @user-wl4vu2cf5h 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    But we gotta be honest here. Even if you are directly focussing on the craving itself, f.a. security, it usually takes a lot of time (still individuall) and its not released in a second. It sounded like it was a pretty fast way to do it. But im doing it exactly like this for months with only one craving and its still there. How long does it take for you to realse a real deep craving?

    • @calumx
      @calumx  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it varies but I think that the deepest stuff can take a very long time. What to do other than let go? We are here for a lifetime to work through this stuff.

    • @freedmni
      @freedmni 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      omni 1 I’m only about fifty pages in and I can see why this would be confusing beginning this work. Essentially, it boils down to contemplating into the component parts of a negative experience (pain, rejection, frustration, disapproval, etc.) and then giving those up to a higher power to be cleared or integrated. So 1) identify the shit 2) break it down into all underlying emotional states and 3) give it up in surrender 4) wipe your hands and go about your day. Hope that helps!

I concider buying that book for sure.

    • @calumx
      @calumx  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is making your ego feel safe. In a weird way. Your ego thinks "if I feel afraid of this I will protect myself from it." Just a thought. And I consider anxiety to be resistance to an uncomfortable sensation. So for anxiety you just have to feel it fully without resisting. Meditation is really helpful for that.

    • @TheGerogero
      @TheGerogero 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Brad Gantt If there is no functional difference between anxiety and excitement, then it doesn't strictly follow that "anxiety in the presence of actual danger can be life-preserving", no? The functional transformations you mention deserve that credit sooner.
