I would love to see if someone actually swap the lt6 in the e46, but not just replicate the sound but make it better, like supercharged it or something like that
I think you can also consider these engines (if you're doing an M3 GTR on a very tight budget): M60B40 (from E34 540i, E32/E38 740i, E31 840i) M62B35/M62TUB35 (from E39 535i, E38 735i) M62B44/M62TUB44 (from E39 540i, E38 740i, E31 840ci, X5 4.4i) S62B50 (from E39 M5, E52 Z8) note: BMW themselves fitted an S62 on E46 M3 (with CSL parts) as a test mule from when they were developing the E92 M3 link: th-cam.com/video/xNi4WYksi3o/w-d-xo.html

in my opinion the most authentic way to get the sound is using the real Hewland 6 speed manual dog box which was used in the real car, and can be found on Scottsdale Motorsports and the S65B40 sent off to Lang Racing to adjust the bore and stroke and forging a flat plane crankshaft, new cams and new valves. very expensive but cheaper than buying a McLaren crate motor. it must be tested for reliability though. i would imagine the redline would also increase a lot as well. and it’ll be all BMW parts as well. also adding long tube headers for the side exit exhaust would further enhance the exotic sound
If anyone is wondering why the RD6 sounds weak compared to the Hewland that Hans Stuck was famously driving it's because the transmission in question was a prototype itself and unless you can custom order a sequential with wider gears which enhances durability you're stuck with expensive low wine transmissions. Most people never reach the transmission part of their replicas so it's sad to think no one will probably ever attempt at getting the sound just right.
I'm super late but I ig you can put a flat plane crank in a ls7. Idk how much everything costs but putting a ls7 should be cake over a lt6. There's a video of a c6 zo6 with one and it sounds really close. I'm sure you can play around with the exhaust to get it near exact. I think the lt6 is also missing that tone after the car passes which the ls7 has.
Or Buy a TVR Cerbera 4.2-4.7 AJP full stop. It will be a fun and complete car that sounds exactly like ingame M3 GTR and a bit of luxury instead of hellish racecar that would turn your brain into mush after couple days of "daily driving" cuz of the drone and noise.
If you could make a video on replicating an amg v8 exhaust, that’d be greeeaaatttt. It seems to be all in the mufflers and I think they come with an h pipe? Having that sound coming out of a sleek mustang would be amazing 👌🏻
In an ideal world, I would like to replicate the E46 GTR to race it as an amateur with actual technology but keeping the H-pattern gearbox like the original. And not too much power to make it funny and safe to drive on track.
Holinger has an H pattern version of the RD6, that's probably what I would use. And a built S65 stroked out to 4.4. liters should make mid 500 to 600 crank horsepower so not too much of a handful
How about a S62 engine(from a E39) with a 180 crossover header to give it the flat plane crank sound? If using a non BMW engine, how about a Ford 5.0 Coyote or a 5.2 Voodoo engine?
That's an option if you can make it fit, I prefer the S65 or the Chevy LT6 because it's higher revving. The Ford Voodoo could be neat but it just doesn't sound right to me, if I went Voodoo I'd twin turbo it or supercharge it for sure.
@@TheRacingJoker I think the exhaust itself and ITB will change its sound. A lot of the Italian supercars had weber carbs. Them and ITBs sound similar.
