    Everyone it's not that hard to change this sensor . My 2000 Lexus RX300 O2 sensor is exactly the same. You do NOT need to take the seat out! Just put it all the way forward! Underneath you can pinch that rubber boot using fingers to pull it out. Then inside under the seat there's a slit in the carpet you'll have to cut that wider so you can fit both hands under the carpet and disconnect the connection. Then unbolt the sensor. It will fall right out! it's not threaded like the air fuel sensors Upstream are... then you're ready to install the new sensor.

    I have a 1999 and it has the same setup and they wanted $1,300 at the dealership to do it.. so I did it myself for $150 it was a pain but thank you for your insight on it it helped me a lot.

    Thanks for making this video. Your experience was a bad as I feared mine would be. Looks like I need to take my car to the shop. I can't believe Toyota put that plug under the seat without an easy way to access it.

    thanks for the video, this really helped me. I was just wondering how do you torque the two bols and if you torque the sensor? thanks

    • @Mity_Moose
      @Mity_Moose  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome. Well, being that these were made for tightening down a hanger on a pole, I had to be careful. Just used my instincts and best judgement. I don't think think that it takes much pressure to keep a seal on the sensor because its not a high pressure system. The bolts I pulled literally fell off in my hands. Good luck.

    Had the exact same lights on my '02 show up, took it to the shop and they diagnosed the same exact same issue, but they said it wasn't a big deal to just leave it alone.

    I too have the same problem with the rusted bolts on my rx300 , (and the PO code) one broke when I was trying to tie it down with bailing wire so if they broke it would not drag on the ground other one is hanging by a "thread". Think drilling them out and Helicoiling them would work? Size is 8mm but you could use 5/16 inch. You would need to get 5/16 inch studs. Anyway what did the muffler shop do and how much did it cost?

      I have recently traded the car, 185k miles. Never took it to the shop. Lasted all this time and never leaked. I got lazy and cheap. I bet my fix is stronger than OEM. haha! Tahnks for the comment.

    How to fix P1153 code on lexus rx 300 1999 ? thank you

    I got the same issue with my 2003 rx300, P0442 with the VSC/Trac off lights on. Already replaced the Air Fuel Ratio Sensor and triple checked the air filter box for loose/broken hoses.
    I would like to replace that 02 sensor but I see the 2 bolts are rusted on and I am betting it will just break off.. Anyone get a quote from the muffler shop on a price to replace those 2 bolts for the oxygen sensor?

  • @williamtam6267
    @williamtam6267 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You should shot some blast lubricant. It's was very easy to take the bolts out. . You did not need to cut so much of the carpet out. As long your hand could feel the connectors and use a wide flathead to wiggle the disconnection.

    I worked Lexus. What we did we would heat up the nuts with a torch With extinguisher at the side half the time they would break . If they broke you would have to drill and tap new threads .

    Man, I really wish you would have taken it to the muffler shop for the bolt repair and 02 replacement, as the same thing just happened to my 2003 RX300, and I need to know how to complete the repair, and if the new 02 sensor fixed the dash warning lights.

    • @Mity_Moose
      @Mity_Moose  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have gotten a ticket because the thing was so loud. I consider any exhaust leak to be dangerous. But if you mean, take it to a shop for the trouble light? Money. If you can afford it, take it to a shop.

    I have a 2000 RX300 - I'm really confused at what part numbers to order. My mechanic recommended replacing all myself to save money. Is one of the downstream sensors the ratio sensor? Any help appreciated. Haven't been able to locate part numbers.

    • @Mity_Moose
      @Mity_Moose  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well if you go to any auto parts store, they can look up the sensors for you and even show you images/schematics. Also, they can run a computer analysis as well. I hope all goes well for you. Let us know. Thanks.

    • @MRMAN-wb1tv
      @MRMAN-wb1tv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each sensor has its own part number because each one is placed in different areas to do different things. They all look the same on the outside BUT INSIDE THEY ARE NOT! So don't make that mistake of mixing them up. Each has a different length wire which gives you indication of its placement.

      Wow! I am amazed that someone had the same issue. I never did price out the fix in a muffler shop, but, I am still driving it with my clamp holding on. What a miser I am.

    what did it cost at the muffler shop to remove the broken bolts and install the oxygen sensor back. ?

    • @Mity_Moose
      @Mity_Moose  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never made it to the muffler shop. My hack held on so well that I just continued with it that way until I sold it. I hope the manufacturer sees what I did because my idea is far superior.

      When you go to the auto parts store they can provide that info. Mine had one at the manifold and one in front of the cat. I have a diff car now. Good luck.

    Why would lexus hide the plug connector inside car and underneath seat. This is crazy. Parts $50 labor $1000😭. Sonsor to use is Denso not Bosch

    • @pintobeanhead7802

      @@pintobeanhead7802 The Denso is specifically designed for Lexus, and have been for years. They automatically dial in with the ecu.

    Every time you check for continuity you never say what you are looking for and the ok parameters. That's frustrating to watch. And why are you checking for continuity? Why not just install the new part?

    • @Mity_Moose
      @Mity_Moose  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a quick check to see of the part may still be usable. An actual bench test with a torch would give exact running measurements. With that many miles, why not just put in a new one.
