  • Bought my uncle a 99 Lexus RX300 AWD and the car was getting a lean code P0171 plus a code for bank 1 sensor 1. Bought a cheap Ebay Denso Oxygen sensor and the problem got worse but after taking it to my cousin and buying another sensor from the same seller we figured out these Ebay Denso's are fake.

    To add, these are air fuel ratio sensors(or wide band), not 02 sensors. They read a wider air fuel ratio range. They also are diagnosed differently than a traditional 02. Specific to Lexus and Toyota. Most don’t know this! Good video

    I had a p0171 code which also would come on intermittently and it turned out to be a clogged fuel filter, after changing it cured the problem

    Same issue here with my moms Lexus RX 300. The one with smaller holes on top is the real deal. Larger holes and bunch of holes are the fake ones. A lot of fake ones going around on eBay and Amazon. Keep your eyes out. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

      My friend bought a Universal Denso that looked fake. Again, Denso doesn't put writing on their sensors and the back end of the sensor where the wires come out is huge, unlike how Denso makes them.

    Have exactly the same problem. The car goes crazy with these fake sensors. Bought again from the same seller. consuption's up from 15 mpg to 8 mpg, misfires on cyl 1,3,5. At first I though ECB went dead. Don't play games with these AFs, buy the original ones. Only the 3rd sensor could be replaced with whatever.

    Had same problem with My 5SFE old Camry and my 2007 1ZZFE Corolla, they were from AMAZON

    Same with spark plugs. Lots of fakes online….the Denso sensors should be etched with a laser “DENSO made in the USA”. Those are the aftermarket OE grade ones they offer.

    It happened exactly same to me, ones cheap from ebay failed within 5 miles driving.
    I believe, If you look more closely you could see the small print on the body of the genuine Denso sensor, just hard to see.

      I've looked and the genuine sensor doesn't have print. From what everyone said to me is that Denso stopped putting print on the sensors for some reason. It takes about 5 miles of driving before the sensor data throws a lean code. I kept resting the code cause I was in denial that I bought a fake sensor and it started to take longer and in some cases took a few hours before it threw a code.

    I hate people on ebay that sell crap like these sensors makes it harder for the good ebay sellers, I stay away from ANYTHING that ships from China on Ebay and some of the larger sellers.

    Now I'm really fricking g confused here. Some people say the real denso sensors don't have anything printed on them, some people in comments say the real denso have printing on them. Wtf?

    • @DukenukemX
      @DukenukemX  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They don't have anything printed. I found this out after making the video and changing some sensors. I actually put two Denso's on my Corvette and it doesn't say Denso on them, and they came from RockAuto. So no, they don't have Denso writing on them.

    I had same problem code P0171. but after 30 miles also have misfire on 1 and 3 cylinder. i bought two O2 sensors. but that problem i have again. i like your video and may be I should replase this

      I recently had the same problem with the bank 2 front Air/Fuel sensor and since this is my uncles car I told him we have to change that sensor as well. He didn't want to spend the $120 for the proper Denso, so I ordered the $60 Ultra Power from RockAuto. Sure enough, the car runs super rich while throwing the same lean code error. Either way, using anything but Denso seems to cause this problem. I have the new Denso sensor but my uncle lives 3 hours away from me, so it'll be a while before I change it and see what happens.

      What was the result? Did the original sensors solve the problem? Or was it something else? Have exactly the same: new toyota denso sensor and the car goes crazy. misfires on 1,3 and 5 cyl. consumption doubled

      Yea you're right as I've also gotten new Denso's with writing on them. This just makes finding fakes even harder.

    What’s the part number for bank 1 sensor 1

    • @DukenukemX
      @DukenukemX  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For Denso it's 2349009 which fits both bank 1 and bank 2 sensor 1.

    • @minhdo9597
      @minhdo9597 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DukenukemX It would fit for both, but if you buy the bank 2, might not fit bank 1, since they have different wire length, hence different part number, I think the other one would be 2349007.

    • @DukenukemX
      @DukenukemX  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@minhdo9597 They fit both cause I've connected both. The rear bank 1 sensor 1 doesn't need a very long wire but I just wire tie it away from the motor.

    Hey is the eBay seller happy2u88 ? I bought 2 sensors and installed them . Car gives me a problem worse then was before.

    • @DukenukemX
      @DukenukemX  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No idea since the video was made years ago. My experience is that don't buy O2 sensors from Ebay. Buy them from RockAuto and only by Denso for Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Return what you bought and get your money back.
