What about Yoshi’s Crafted World? There’s this level called Be Afraid of the Dark where you need to escape these ‘creatures’ chasing you and you have to go into the light to not die.

Mimi's one of my least favorite Super Paper Mario characters. First reason, she's creepy, that transformation man, I expected it, yet it still kind of got me. Second reason, 2-3, enough said.

Honestly, I think Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time is the darkest, and the creepiest game of all Mario games ever. The story itself is just dark, the music at the end is super dark, and overall the game is just scary.
I got a lifelong trauma because of it.

The creepiest/scariest thing that I thought was when you are in the darkwoods under the wooded kingdom in Mario odyssey, and you suddenly see the Dino and you run. I always get scared when I have to run away cause I’m scared he’ll eat me or something

16:11 Correction The Jellyfish does appear in the Bigmouth galaxy, as well, but yeah that thing is Creepy AF to me.
There’s also one in Cosmic Cove in Galaxy 2. I was always super scared of the jellyfish because I’m deep dark there was an area nowhere near it that would trigger its sound effects and I felt like there was nowhere I could go to get away from the jellyfish even though it’s stationary. I’ve been scared of Jellyfish ever since.

None of these are creepy though. Spooky, sorta, but creepy they are not.
Remember that this is the Mario series, though. You kind of have to dig deep to find anything even slightly unsettling. Unless it's Luigi's Mansion or a Mario RPG.

My opinion the scariest thing is in wooded kingdom in odyssey when you fall down a whole and think your dead but you fall in the deep woods and you didn’t know the deep woods existed. AH terrifying!

Mario games need to go back to their roots, sick of weird concepts like New Donk City, rabbits, space, etc. Mario games were set in the Mushroom Kingdom, but the past few decades Nintendo has Mario fighting all over the place. I want to see a 3D platformer with fully fleshed out Mushroom Kingdom levels, not like Odyssey where the levels are nearly bare. It should look like a real world, tighter paths with actually challenging enemies and characters from the first 5 games. Also maybe a darker tone like Bowser’s Fury would be cool.
