The most moving song I have ever heard - and as an Iranian/American, I feel it a social duty to translate the lyrics and introduce the REAL Iran to people from all walks of life; the general media seems to have quite a death-grip on how they want Iran to be shown. The most moving song I have ever heard - and as an Iranian/American, I feel it a social duty to translate the lyrics and introduce the REAL Iran to people from all walks of life; the general media seems to have quite a death-grip on how they want Iran to be shown. Iran is a beautiful country, boasts some of the most fascinating pieces of intellectual human history (did you know, for instance, that Cyrus the Great is credited for the first ever documented charter of human rights?), and is home to intelligent, civilized, hospitable, and loving people as diverse and beautiful as its geographical landscape. I can also safely say that no other song lyric has touched my soul the way this one did - it articulates my first and only encounter with love in the most perfect way. The poem is by an Iranian poet named Simin Behbahani and I'd like to thank her, Tahmoures Pournazeri, and the ever-talented vocalist Homayoun Shajarian for this masterpiece. I'll reply to my comment with a translation.
