I love this build, it's old school and different but he's so pumped about it and loves it and that goes to show you what a real basshead is!
Thanks!
@@E4EonEbay i take it those are the punches that ppl always say the old punch subs hit hard
Fucking right... blasting old school earthquake amp and Rockford fosgate subs. Gets it done..
I have 2 12 Rockford fosgates punch xlc's are they much different then thos
I also love this system, I definitely had alot of similar equipment. My subs were the earlier models i had the punch pro series 12s with 2 punch 150 hd amps and a punch 45 hd on 4 Altec Lansing 6x9s with a Sony deck and Sony xe- 744 passive equalizer
Big ups to this guy for rocking the old school shit! I love it.
Thanks man!
Whatever
Mill Wurray Hit a 146.5 today with this "SHIT" bro... not to shabby for equipment nearly 20 years old on stock electrical
+Mill Wurray, I have no shame in competing in Rookie Division, and saying my equipment is shit because it is old is like saying a classic car is shit because it is old. This equipment was hand crafted in the USA unlike the majority of stuff on the market today. WTF is your deal anyways man? You hating because you ain't loud?
Steve Young just ignore him man. He's just talking shit like every other troll on the Internet. You have a sweet set up that fulfills your audio needs and that's all that matters.
3:11 LMAO. Now that's a true DB sign!
LOL
hey steve what was that first song you played in this video ? i need that, Thanks Mate
Wtf it’s you and i made a video of my speaker playing bass I love you plz check it out!!!
What that music 3:18??
This is a gem to find in that I'm happy to see one that has multiple subs that are utterly sealed apart and have the capability to be ported or not.
This not only enables the user to experiment on each side however he wants but also to keep each sub from being affected by the others' sub(lol)tle parameters.
I do believe that a sub that is literally sealed off has only the air in the cab to contend with. There will be a resonant frequency. The port can tune this up or down to a
POINT and too large/short a port is closer to free-air whereas too small/long a port is closer to sealed. Another way, MAYBE, might be to add 'pods' of airspace to the outside of a cab, like side bags on a horses' saddle, that do not obstruct the view out the back of a vehicle. This could work the other way, also...think about it...
Innies and Outies, lol. Sub-ins, Sub-outs, lol. Have A Nice Day (HAND) 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
such a simple set up, it’s a breath of fresh air to see. It’s just so authentic. Bass in its purest form
It's always fun seeing people do new things!! :D
Wait until you see my box that's really cool
Exo, i need a badass 10" sub and speakers / amp / everything for a new 2017 tacoma double cab.
tacotunes.com/shop/toyota-tacoma-audio-products/double-cab-audio-products/2005-tacoma-subwoofer-options/toyota-tacoma-double-cab-subwoofer-box-image-dynamics-subwoofer/#jp-carousel-6574
^^ thats the box that fits behind the rear seat. msg me the setup you would recommend please. Im ready to buy.
EXOcontralto I have a 1979 ford f150 single cab, still under construction but have two rockford fosgate p1 10 inch subs and rf 500 watt amp "dynoed at 623 watt rms" and two rf speakers with mid and high. surprisingly I got it up to 143dB. I think my next upgrade should reach over 160 dB easily with only 2400 watts
What is the first song tht was played, artist and song title? I need tht song banging in my trunks thru my subs ASAP
Keep in mind that dB's are a logarithmic scale. You need an order of magnatude more power to get that loud.
Bad ass! This guy did his homework. Best budget build I've seen!
thanks man, it's a work in progress, I went from a 137.3 sealed, to 144.3 ported with the addition of the second 800a2, and my latest run was a 145.3 after readjusting my gains with a dd1.
Wouldn't really call it budget tbh. Maybe the head unit but all of this stuff is getting quite rare. Maybe the PVC and box really but I couldn't see the 6×9's and subs being cheap including the amps
Hw much is the set up plz mate
The rockford fosgate equipment is not cheap.
one of the first audio build vids ive seen where the view of the subs actually has bass and not just mechanical noise. shout out to the old school bass heads! As always another great vid Exo
reminds me of one of my first builds out of salvaged parts of my fathers stuff from the 80s.
We've come a long way but the basic principals never change. Keep bumpin dude.
old school rockford still kicking strong, so cool to see. Like the owner said its like a piece of childhood haha.
Thanks man, I was a teenager in the 90's and this is the stuff I wanted but couldn't really afford back then... Now I can :)
Right there with ya. I have a set of old school cerwin vegas but im afraid to run em so they sit on a shelf so I can look at them. scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/261991_701529018779_523937_n.jpg?oh=a7b67fc1438c492469c14d93b618f43b&oe=58874A43
God I want em
I love that you use all old school shit. you never see that. that's a bad bitch gets down!
Thanks man!
I have the 12 version of them :p
FSXgta the first sub I ever owned was a 12" punch. I loved it. But, believe it or not, my (4)12" type r's get down. They are very underrated
Alpine makes some solid gear!
Steve Young this is way off track, but how many times you hear something about the old 49ers QB? I could only imagine. I used to work with a,guy names Jeff Backus and Matthew Stafford. It was ridiculous how many ppl would bring it up to them
Grinning the whole time while watching the jeep. Reminding me of my youth. My punch 18 in a old chevy vega. Rockford never. Never let me down. Old school for sure. All his equipment just brought it all back.
Happy to have you here, Wayne! Thanks for sharing the memory with us :)
That white CRX though 😍
My Stoner Mind you here???
Hey man love your bass head kitty's..lol
I didn't know my stoner mind watched exo contralto
ill bet you havent been sober in years
Ayyyyy My stoner
My buddy has a couple XLC's that can still get down. Good to see that old school RF is still around
THIS IS WHAT CAR AUDIO IS ALL ABOUT!!!
Mystique Sanda DJ
coo to see a guy appreciating the old school gear.. i had 4 vintage solo 12s and the same punch 800a2 and was cool back then... props bro
The oldschool will always live in my heart
You can tell the guy with the Rockfords loves car audio
Yes I do :), especially anything oldschool!
Finally made a video documenting my journey as a noob beginner to 2017 NADBL Rookie Champion & NADBL Rookie of The Year! th-cam.com/video/DIz73wfZXeI/w-d-xo.html
I had 10 15 inch punch subs in my old s10 back in the day. I used too run them sealed until I built my first 4th order. Back then 150's was king and it would hit 151's all day.
I was old school mini trucker myself. 4 Orion xtr 15's on 2 250 hcca's with a denon deck and changer in a Nissan hardbody. Good times
didn't expect for it to sound that good. nice set up
Thanks man
That is a cool set up with the port tunes to bad someone has not made products for custom ports with tuning options like yours!
Lawrence818 right. I listen to different types of music and that set up would be perfect
Steve Young what would you recommend for a 2dr Tahoe, I like all music from reggae to rap to jazz... idk what setup to do, help?
i had 2 15" pyle driver 1's in my old 67 colt never thought old subs could flex a car that much even though it was a small car lol gotta love old school subs they set the bar high for what we have today
yeah, you can't argue that progress has moved the hobby forward with vast improvements in efficiency, but I still like the oldschool. To me, driving a naturally asperated 500hp big block v8 just seems different than a turbo 4 with 500hp even though they are the same power, I don't care that the 4 is more efficient...
@@E4EonEbay I would actually say they went backwards in efficiency for the speakers anyway.
Gotta say they really knew how to build subs in the 90's. Nowadays the boxes are alot better and amps have gone a long way for the cheap manufacturers :)
love the BMW in your profile, I had an E34 535i 5 speed, had this system in it too before I ported the box...
Oh yeah theyre surprisingly quiet inside if you dont install a teenage fartcan and good for sound quality installs too :) My car is an 1992 525i non-vanos 24valve model.
I've tried many kinds of boxes in my e34 and I currently have a single 15" in around 90-100litre box with 44cm long 6inch diameter aeroport and that thing goes pretty low. Tuned to 30~ but makes plastic bags and other stuff wobble at 20-25hz like crazy :D Sounds pretty good compared to most bass installs I've heard so far.
id have to say the opposite is true from my perspective.. subs are wayyyyy better today then the 90s. considering spl like sundown and dd.. but amps, they have more power now, but class d power... no better amps made than the ppi art series and sounstream reference 1000sx....
BRILLIANT idea with the switchable porting and seal... Nice setup
Thanks!
the best woofers Rockford ever made
For the time period that maybe true, but ours outta your mind when it comes to new school.
Rodney Watson The best Rockford Fosgate are Team Rockford and Power Hx2
Rodney Watson the audiophile Rockford Fosgate subs are my favorite.
I personally like all of the earlier single voice coil subs, ALL RF like the SPP Pro Series, PWR Powers & The RFR 1410's 12's or 15's. The had a higher sensitivity than the DVC's. I like the HX2 Powers but not near the sound quality. All great subs KEEP ROCKIN THE OLD SCHOOL!!!!! Love it
Lol?
that is such a cool box. im a plumber and im loving that PVC venting and tuning upgrade.
This guy has everything old school I love it! Thanks for the video exo!
Thanks man! It took me a while to track down all of the pieces to the system, not like you can just run down to the local car audio store and grab stuff off the shelf anymore...
Those prefab 6x9 boxes are fire. The memories. Just don't stop the car too fast.
"I've got custom plugs..." 5 inch pvc endcaps
Hey, it works!!!
Actually 4” slip caps on 4” pipe. Couldn’t make a better plug unless he used threaded and that makes changing tune quickly more of a pain.
Love your vids dude , I'm 47 and this shit will never get old to me .. I'm more into it now than I ever was , some will just never understand . . .
CD's are always the way to go! Best quality ever!(in a car at least)
yeah, I agree, older cds also have higher dynamic range ad newer recordings have fallin victim to the loudness wars and suffer from over compression, Google loudness wars if you get a chance...
Steve Young I agree too, mp3 is compress and a lot of times people will add bass boosted to them and distort the track further
elice05 no they aren't lol .FLAC and .WAV are lossless file type which have better quality than CD
BlackRoseAnarchy very true, and if you know how to use audio softwares, you can always rebass songs... make the bass whatever you want it to be.
That sweet n sour sauce...any scheschwan
Old school setups are so much better. I want to see a guy with the old strokers compete. Those were just the best.
I would argue they're better, but they have their place!
Makes me smile when I see OLD subs hitting what newer setups can struggle to hit.
Hell, the first setup hit almost as hard as the 2 Contralto subs did. (at leased by what the video shows)
Thanks man, I hit 145.3 at my last show, best so far, 1db above the show in the vid. The Jimmy in the vid with the Contralto's is hitting around 149 to 150 on the meter at the shows. Lots more power than I'm running, as well as a much larger box too... I am still on stock electrical with single battery. I have to be careful, because I am dipping into the 10's for voltage. I think once I improve voltage I might gain a little, as these old RF amps are running unregulated power supplies, more voltage in, more power out...
Maybe get a 16v alt? Should make for a happy electrical system. Good luck :-D
Hard to believe that setup does 142db good shit!
Got even louder later on during the season as well!
topped out at a 48 with that box and subs on two power 1100a2 amps
I used to have those subs! Ran them off a punch 60 ix and 2ohm load...those RF amps seemed to do fine on lower than rated impedance.
I remember when some manufacturers like Kicker would make loaded enclosures with ports and had these caps that you inserted into the ports to make them sealed...certainly an old school idea.
Dude, very nice, ran this same setup in my 350z car back in 03, only diff. was I ran the Fosgate Power 15's same BA surrounds, old school Alpine 7-channel eq. Bass was so ridiculous it broke the connecting arm on my rear view mirror, thankfully it was a warranty item (fully integrated mirror=very expensive). The BA's are my favorites for all my installs, clean, tight, very articulate and can handle gobs of power. I hid the sub box under the rear carpet utilizing the spare tire volume area for the box.
From outside the car you couldn't even tell it wasn't the stock system. Never got it DB tested, but it was absolutely sick.
I love jeep cherokees lol .. Its kool to see some one still using older equipment to this day
Omg that is awesome!!!! Love that guy. I love old Rockford stuff. It was awesome in the day!!! And love that he kept the whole old scene on everything. New things are good but im old school competion bass head also and what he has i remember running alot of it also.
Nothin' like a solid old school setup!
Sloppy AF, but +1 for creativity and oldskoo shit. That thang knocking hard.
Thanks
How is it sloppy? just because its not covered in carpet?
One thing i love about audio is that old shit can still kick ass. You dont get thay in everything.
that was the best ported vrs sealed video I have seen yet I have now made the choice to keep mine sealed do to the fact that ported doesn't hit all the notes my shit bangs hard at all notes on 4 sealed 12s excellent video exo keep it up
Cool to see the older equipment. When i was into car audio in the early 2000s a 1000 watts to your subs and 100 watts to each speaker would get you one of the loudest rides in town. Now everyone has 0awg wire, 3-4-8k watts, huge heavy subs and massive ported boxes id love to know how much if any better the "new" equipment sounds vs the older stuff.
proper car system. looking at those old amps, they last forever, my punch is still going strong :)
I love my black & grind RF amps, built like tanks!
Back in 2000 I bought three 10" Fosgate he2's and had them in a sealed box. Sounded sooo good. In 2019 I have three Fosgate hx2's in ported box. OMG sound soooo much better than sealed. So much louder and I can actually feel the bass. I'll never go back to sealed
Wow, talk about bringing back some memories. Had 2 Punch DVC 15"s myself and loved them. Props on woofer enclosure.
Thanks man, were yours powers or standard DVC's?
Steve Young mine was Power series exactly like Urs. had 2 Crossfire VR2000R strapped pushing them. They can definitely take a lickin and keep on tickin
Super cool. Speakers from 20-30 years ago still putting out.
Bad ass oldschool
thanks man!
0:30. Want the loudness of ported and the punchiness of sealed? That's what a 4th order enclosure is for.
And if you want to be tuned super low, you can make a 4th order (for example) tuned to 15hz on the sealed chamber and the smaller ported chamber 1 1/2 octave higher which would be around 45hz.
old school fosgate ftw thanks a billion for this vid
Man, I had these same subs many many many years ago. Very efficient drivers
sick ass setup I dig you're nostalgia
guys like this are very special rare breeds... not only do they appreciate music but they appreciate the sound of music 😉 ah thank you
I appreciate your comment, I play a lot of albums with high dynamic range, Google loudness wars if you get a chance, most new recordings and even remastered stuff suffers from over compression. I listen to a broad range of music and I needed a system flexible enough to keep up. Also, these older subs are very musical and have a very low Fs of 20hz and a decent sensitivity as well, you don't get that with some of the newer subs, yeah newer subs handle more power and can move the earth, but they are geared more for spl systems.
I was just on Steve's channel yesterday.. and I was like HEY! I know that box! lol
it is a pretty different setup, everyone kind of looks at it funny at first...
I had one of those 15's in a sealed box back in the day and it pounded.. I love old stereo shit!
I got 2 jl W0 12s. They both need new surrounds but that's a quick fix and only cost 30 bucks for both surrounds. I'm selling them both
Love the fact that this guy went with oldskool components. He should be working at a shop somewhere.
Good ole Steve, definitely has come a long way!
man those contraltos look great.
Tim Germany they sound as good as they look
Love the old school Rockford fosgate stuff, back when Rockford was SQ stuff and made in the USA. Love it! Just got the first gen HX2 myself. Sounds so much better than my P|3 I used to run.
Oh hell yeah. The hx2 was an AWESOME driver!!!
Everytime I listen to a bass video
Bass: Bkrkrkrrrr bkrkrrrr bkrkrrr
Hahahahahahahaha..... that's true....dude....
I just checked out steves page too LoL 😂😂😂
I thought it would've been the opposite on the sealed vs. ported excursion.
spanKster so did i.
hometheaterhifi.com/volume_5_2/cmilleressayporting.html great read up on how ported enclosures operate with animations. Check it out if you get the chance.
Nah. The Excursion is not actually good. A seal enclosure can make more excursion, but will produce less bass overall. There have been tests showing that a Sealed enclosure will reach its limit much easier than a ported box. You can't run all you want to a sealed enclosure, you run into a barrier of SPL versing itself in a sealed enclosure.
It is all about efficiency, the ported box is more efficient at what ever the box is tuned to, above that it acts like a sealed box and below tuning the sub starts acting like it is playing in free air without an enclosure...there is some grey area just above and below tuning, but in general that's how it will operate (for example your sub will not be completely free air at something like 38 if you are tuned to 40). Sealed boxes have a much smoother roll off and a flatter response in general, they can get loud. Larger sealed boxes are more efficient in that they do not require as much power to drive the sub to its mechanical limits. People talk about putting a sub in a smaller sealed box increasing its power handling, not exactly true, the box simply becomes inefficient requiring more power to drive the sub to its mechanical limits, bad if you have a sub rated at 500 watts and it now takes 1000 watts to produce the same output because you will damage your sub from thermal overload.
It depends on the frequency, sealed has more protection below tuning, a ported box will unload the driver. Since he is tuned very low and playing tracks with no lower content, the ported is better for power handling.
This guy has ...seriously the. Best. Boston's ever made. You power those 6×9's right and his door 61/2's you would be completely amazed how ..not only insanely loud but crisp clear and voice with some clean punchy mid bass those boys produce. Hands down. Boston still makes good speakers. Also ballpunk in the 90's was beyond the sound stage as well. Not to sure now though. This man has the system kids today cant figure out and get. Sooo simple and just perfect for playing litterally anything
I had a similar set up in a 2000 dodge Durango SLT PLUS with same subs and in a 1994 ford explorer XLT 4.0 but with 4 square kickers 15's pointed to the roof.
Thanks for sharing, Adam!
Thanks man, I am running both the 6x9's and the pro60se's each on their own punch 800a2 at the moment and it sounds amazing
my favorite punch subs ever made!
144 with old school fosgate, the old school stuff is soooo nice to see. love it
Thanks man, I finally broke 48 with the system now! Video is posted on my channel
nice to see those old school 15s man and that processor too!!
Took me a while to find one!
I got two 12s rockford fosgate dvc punch
Steve Young I bet it did! I love the look of the old school Fosgate Trans Ana amps.
logan sayers nice to hear man...I'm a rockford fanatic I love all their stuff!!
Great to see, I'm still running my 90's Eclipse amps and they sound aw8
man I had the 10s the 12s and also the 15s like those back in the late 90s plus those fosgate amps very nice ol skool setup love it
thanks man!
Had the 10in dvc in a bandpas 99-00 put a lot of paired 12s to shame. mtx 500w amp in a 92 sunbird
Just coming back to this... those old school punch Power DVCs were the shit back in the day for sure
They were beasts, I ended up picking up a few more, have a total of 7 of them now
good video man and thumbs up old school 👍👍
Finally made a video documenting my journey as a noob beginner to 2017 NADBL Rookie Champion & NADBL Rookie of The Year! th-cam.com/video/DIz73wfZXeI/w-d-xo.html
Came here because Pappy Built! Yeah! I saw this years ago and it's back!
Good stuff exo I prefer ported myself just so the sub can breathe. That stain on that box with the contralto s was looking good bro!!!!!
Johnny is the guy with the contraltos, he is a local box builder here in NH and he does awesome work!
Old school rocks!!!😁☺
Yes it does
It's cool that you can use older gear that looks less impressive but with the right tuning setup anybody can have a decent sounding system.
thanks man, it might not be pretty, but it hits a respectable 145+ at the moment and it sounds pretty clean l, so I'm happy with it. I am hitting numbers better than some of my friends who have newer equipment...
Young people and that bass doing wat he loves to do. Beating the block down
Nothing like it :)
Ahh separate chamber box I was so confused at first haha
Yeah, when I built the box I did separate chambers so I could run one amp on each sub, also adds some bracing. I really loved the sound of the sealed box and was afraid it would sound drastically different if I went ported, but I wanted more output when on the meter, so instead of building a new box, I external ported the box I already had to maintain the 2.5cf internal volume and made some plugs to run it either way. It definitely has a different sound sealed, makes a huge difference on certain tracks.
+Steve Young so you don't add the external port internal volume to the overall box volume? I have always wondered about that
If you were to add the volume of the inside of the port, it would be added to both side, everything would still be equal. At the end of the day I guess you could argue that it would be a hair larger than 2.5 sealed with the added volume of the port when sealed, but it is such a very small amount it would still be well within the range provided in the manual of the subs, they are simply optimal at 2.5 sealed or ported.
Yeah most external aeroports don't account for much air volume it's not gonna make much a difference besides add resonance and tune the box itself (not the port) alittle bit lower.
And Steve young yeah I remember my old sealed box back when I listened to metal it sounded great and helped the subs keep up with the kick drum response. I'm running my 2 15s in a ported box now and they are alittle bit pokey haha
really love that old school bulid
Thanks man
Way to show em old school can bump too.
Thanks man! I recently hit my best score to date, 146.5dB, NADBL comp in Bradford, NH.... www.nadbl.org/index.php/results/2017-results
Congrats. Gaining 2 db is no small feat. You know your stuff as well with how seamless the system performs and creating the illusion of the rear speakers being presented as front stage. Im sure EXO asked you how that was accomplished. As a matter of fact id like to know myself. Maybe you could do a video on it when you have time if your willing and teach us all.
Man this stuff brought back memories
brings back memories of no cell phones everyone met in parking lots and compared and shared there was no youtube and followers were bumping bass behind you on the strip
That old Rockford Fosgate stuff lasts!
I still have a working punch 45. It was a beast in it's time.
i wish i could find a stricktly old school channel.... awesome video
What do you mean?
@@EXOcontralto idk.. i just mean id like to see old builds... besides rockford.. like boston acoustics pro series, the first hccas, strokers, art series, soundstream references, phoenix gold outlaws etc... the cool stuff...
I find sealed boxes to be more musical. I have a sealed JL 12" and it sounds perfect in my highlander. I tried a couple ported boxes first and they were different. The base is in your head with the porteds where the sealed just mixes in perfectly with the other speakers providing the deep notes. With the ported boxes fast jazz base gets really muddy and sloppy where the sealed box keeps up perfectly.
I can still play Kendrick Lamar or whatever...it is a 12"... but the big difference is the low volume level listening. The deep base notes are still very much there and quite pleasant from the sealed box. Ported boxes just aren't precise enough for my taste and after putting similar JL subs of both ported and sealed head to head, I am sure of my preference.
That being said, if all I cared about was thump I would probably go ported and if someone gifted me one of those ported JL subs I would probably be happy not ever having heard the sealed version.
Snaus Pockets i totally agree, i have a old sealed 12in kicker comp VR, love the accuracy of it, the bass line sounds exactly how it should, with no particular tones being emphasized excessively. Just today i put in a big ported box with a single 10 in diamond competition sub , certain frequencies are at-least 3 times louder than the sealed 12 and its fuckin awesome, but songs that dont hit those frequencies are just kind of bland and not very impressive. I think the ported box is less predictable and almost more fun because you dont know what youre gunna get, where sealed is accurate and ultimately better musically
2 years later I am running a ported Skar evl 15" and the way it flexes my suv makes me feel like a teenager again.
Tried to go back to the JL sealed for a bit and it sounds real clean but it has a limit and isn't big enough a lot of the time after getting used to the evl.
@@snauspockets9924 SQL subs in a ported box is a happy medium 👍
I love the way sealed boxes sound
That's a cool guy and system i used to have the same speakers lol awesome
Thanks man!
Steve Young what song and artist is rapping at 3:25-4:50... I need tht song bro
Gudda Gudda- Gettin' To The Money
I love the old school equipment. I still ha e some old power acoustic and la sound amps from the 90s. They are still rockin and going to go back into use here shortly.
yeah thats a cool strange setup. nice!
Thanks!
These are the only subs I've been able to get 2nd hand and off to my cousin for the life of me he just layed those heavy mfka to rest
Loved the cars behind steve's s jeep and Also loved the cars behind johnnys car So awesome!
Damn very impressed
Thanks man!
Steve Young No problem bro keep it up! That's the best old school set up that actually gets loud and clean! Also being able to change from ported to sealed. Props to u
Just hit my best score today! 146.5dB I am pretty damn happy with it...
Steve Young nice!! Do u plan on staying with old school set ups?
My old Fosgate HE2 DVC 12s pounded on my 1000w x 2 Soundstream amp. Never underestimate the power of those old Rockford Fosgate subs and amps. My boy had 4 MTX Thunder 9000s in a bandpass box in the bed of his S10 with a cap that was sealed to the cab with the rear window removed and a Fosgate amp, you couldn't sit in that cab without ear muffs.
Totally man, these things are still taking people back. Love the old school touches here and there, makes the show fun to attend.
Why does the sealed flex and move more. My thoughts are that a sealed box would cause the sub to be working against the pressure inside a sealed box would make it less like to move freely. Anyone wanna educate?
James less efficient sealed!
hometheaterhifi.com/volume_5_2/cmilleressayporting.html great read up on how ported enclosures operate with animations. Check it out if you get the chance.
Steve Young mind blown thanks lol
Steve Young mind blown thanks lol
in this particular example if you watch when he caps the port to seal the box he forces air into the box, so the sealed box is actually slightly pressurized which is NOT how its speced to run. i think thats why you see such a pronounced excursion. id bet that if he released the pressure it wouldn't look nearly as crazy as that.
loving the oldschool rocky gear guys! xx
Thanks man!
welcome sir xx
sealed beat's harder all day every day
If u can make good ported box then ported wins
I had the same subs back in the 90s and half as many amps and got the same dbs at the sound off, nice to see old skool .
it's like this dude went to prison in 2000 and did a 15 year bid. his car, stereo, and clothes all scream 2000!
That's why my friends call me "old school"...
Very cool and the port tunability is sweet. I had a pair of those subs in 12" back in the day - definitely miss those!
I love oldschool RF gear, I have four PowerDVC 10's along with these 15's, as well as a few other black & grind amps kicking around... I am thinking of a four 10 box build for my daughters car when she gets her license
Steve Young Very cool!!! I still have 4 of the punch dvc 12's mint in boxes, an 800 a2 and a 800 a4 like yours with end caps. (I have no idea how I've managed to hang onto the end caps). I love old school gear! I also have 2 like new JBL 1000w 1500 GTi subs from around the same period as well. I'll bet you remember those. I used them about a month and they've been in boxes ever since.
I have new gear in my truck, but my car has a decent old school setup: Alpine cda-7977, Diamond audio M5 components front & rear, MTX thunder 2300x, MTX thunder 4200x, and a PPI pro 12 from the Alma Gates days!
Nicholas, if you are into oldschool car audio, check out Legends of Car Audio on FB, good group of guys, lots of great oldschool gear. (PS, I too have my end caps, just didn't really have room for them in the setup, someday I'll build a proper amp rack)
Steve Young Hah, I figured you probably did, having all that sweet gear. I'll go check them out right now. Thanks brother!
