Nissan really knows how to make a fantastic V6 engine. The VQ 3.5L V6 is quite a potent engine. Nissan’s X-Tronic CVT, love it or hate it, but it is responsive I will give it that.
@@gamingraccoon9070 I had a 2.5 SV, it was never sluggish. The initial 0-30mph acceleration in hot weather didn't kick you in the back of the seat if you gave it full throttle immediately. From 35-40mph, it was excellent!
I had an 08 3.5se for a little while, maybe they've improved it drastically since then but I hated the transmission in that car. Horrible responsiveness, had no power from a dig, felt like a rubber band. Really dulled the power of the VQ
I had the '07 Altima 3.5SE and now have a "16 Maxima SV. The shining point of these cars is not measuring 0-60 from a dig, it's their passing times, 30-50 & 50-70. When you're already rolling and need to pass, these cars fly!
A few years ago, I was looking at these while I was in the market. It was a 3.5 SL. Gray with tan leather, I believe. I was this close👌🏼 to getting it, BUT, I was reminded of all of the issues that the CVT transmissions had with the Altimas and some of the Maximas, so that killed the sale. But what I will say, this is the best looking Altima, by far.
@@DMCarReviews that’s awesome. my only experience with the CVTs have been with the 6 cylinder configs (my dad’s 07 Murano was a BEAST and then i bought my own brand new 2018 at the time , which was a bullet in its own right). drove a buddy’s Maxima a few times and rented the V6 Altima before
Now u need to do 3.5 v6 2012 altima the Coupe 2 door version is different. I drove one and its quick fun to drive will easily dust the newer ones lol 2020 and up will lose
This is not my car. I had an 2017 Maxima (purchased new), and I sold her around 43k miles. Not a single issue! The current owner is currently approaching 100k, and she has had no issues.
The thing is, these cars will last if you drive responsibly and change your transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. I have a 2.5s 2008 Altima with 291,387 miles on it. Runs great. It's my daily, so my Acura RL doesn't rack up the miles. Altimas are great cars.
@DMCarReviews Big Altima Energy!👆 Yeah, I'm a relaxed, low-key, right-lane driver. In basic principle, a car must sometimes be pushed for its parts to last.
A/C Adds 25% to 15% Load on the engines and too get it too hang revs punch it then let off untill its off the threshold then punch it again past the threshold...
@@DMCarReviews the issue is getting the car off the line without making it bog. The cvt acted weird back then with hesitating after 2 much wheelspin. Actually.if you stall it against the tq converter and leave traction on it won't hesitate as much for some reason compared to turning it off. Odd but true. You fell.the takeoff much better. Trapping 99 mph is very high for a car that's only doing a 6.7 0-60.
@@occckid123 The 0-60 and trap speed don't always correlate. You can have a very powerful fwd car with bad street traction that does 0-60 in 7 seconds (stage 2 GTI per say), but traps well over 100mph. It just depends on the gearing and traction. My VW Arteon stage 1 would do 0-60 in 5.8-6 seconds off idle, but trapped 105-106mph. Some cars have limited power/torque in the first two gears for transmission safety, but allow full power in the following gears.
@@DMCarReviews that's exactly what I'm saying. If the start was better then the 0-60 would be lower. 100mph trap speeds are for cars that do 0-60 usually under 6.0.seconds. caranddriver got 5.8 and 5.9 I think for the altima v6 during the car of the year testing back in 2013. The 2013 altima v6 I have on my channel did a good 0-60 but I had to try it a few times. Each time the launch was terrible with the hesitations and wheelspin at the start but I felt leaving traction on did the best with the cheap Chinese tires that was in the car lol.
@@occckid123 It will get to 100 mph earlier, and the quarter mile time will be less, but the trap speed will stay the same! You never timed your runs by a GPS, so what looks like 6 seconds by the video is usually more by GPS.

That only became a thing recently, and the V6 models are super rare. Definitely my favorite midsize in this class!
These newer, mid-to-late-2010's Nissan Altima's with the 3.5 L V6 engine are beasts.

The V6 versions are very rare!
Man if they woulda used the 7 speed from the infinitis or something similar, just a traditional transmission, id actually love to own one of these.
I really prefer the CVT over automatics in the Altima V6. It's got such perfect response, and it's always in the power band.
