    I just started leasing the 2015 Altima 3.5SL in December and I love this car! The handling is excellent, the seats are extremely comfortable, gas mileage is great, the engine purrs, and the acceleration is blazingly fast. I can hit 70mph in a few seconds and not even feel it. I'm in love :)

      I just purchased a 15 Altima 3.5 SL. I was driving an Acura so I was a little skeptical. I am not at all disappointed! This is a great car. Feels a lot more upscale than its portrayed. If anyone is looking for an entry level luxury car definetly check out this car!

      I test drove the 2018 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL and I wasn't immediately in love with it. The premium sound system from Bose is about average but clear and crisp. The interior is simplified and the ergonomics were just about right and the zero-gravity seats are extremely comfortable. The performance was about average, and I didn't feel too much different from a previous generation Kia Optima 2.0T and it has better build quality and a better sound system.

    I just bought a used 2014 3.5SL yesterday for my first car after college, and I was blown away by the quality for how much I was paying. My father has a higher-end Lexus with all the bells and whistles, and this car comes close to matching it for about half the price. The only thing I'd like to see in this car is an Econ button to optionally make acceleration more gradual and save some MPGs, but if you got the 3.5 then you probably don't care too much about that anyway.

      @@luke2393 If you buy any Nissan, make sure they are at least five years old, especially a Nissan with a full service record. At that age, the depreciation will have been affected by the previous owner. A Mazda 6 was my previous car for five years. It was reliable but living in a snowy, icy climate, it completely rusted in 2019 but the car was a 2005. Also consider shopping Toyota Avalon and Camry, or Honda Accord as they are all generally reliable with good resale value.

    • @texan903
      @texan903 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@luke2393 When I got my car, I wasn't looking to purchase because I had another already, so I didn't do my homework and made a somewhat impulsive buy. Definitely decide on important features, write them down then select three top picks for the cars that fit your criteria and budget. Once you go from there, go out to test drive each one. Don't compromise if you don't have to and try to have a vehicle that can get you at least through college without a car note. Be saving for the next car as you're paying off the one you're about to buy, that way you can buy a car with cash in the future. Open you an IRA and invest into it religiously, at least monthly and put emergency savings into some kind of high interest savings account or mutual fund.

    I owned a 2013 3.5 Altima for almost two years now and so far in terms of performance this car exceeded my expectations. This reviewer is undercutting his review on this car, he did not mention that this car uses the same ZF shock absorbers that mercedes uses that is why the balance between handling and luxury in terms of ride quality is very good. Also, he did not show how this car drives and sounds in sport mode. For me, the shifter design of this car implies that it is to be driven always in sport mode (not normal drive) which is more responsive, fun minus the drone of normal CVT. Why? Because, you need to look down to put it in D or hit Ds first then go back to D. The Ds (sport mode) is situated as the last position that you can't miss and is much easier and very very responsive to drive. I put the shifter in D if I have a passenger that gets car sick otherwise it's always in Ds. And in terms of acceleration, you'll get the real acceleration when the miles reach about 7,000 this car can hit 0-60 in 5.4-5.5 seconds, believe me, that 6.2 is just not true.

    Right now I drive an '07 Altima 3.5 SE with 142K miles (had it since 8,700 miles back in '08). Best car I've ever had in terms of reliability (last car was a '98 Grand Prix GTP with 196K miles from new). Period. Not a single problem besides normal wear and tear (just added perf. rear sway to eliminate bump steer in the rear, big improvement). As far as the CVT goes, it's like driving a 270hp golf cart (and I mean that in a good way), you just point and shoot, and between 40 and 60mph, this thing slingshots past other cars before their transmission know what to do (try it, you might like it). Literally shocks other drivers on the road. As a Mechanical Engineer, I appreciate the engineering that went into its design. Can't kill this thing!

    wow not bad at all with the quality! I always had the notion (misinformed apparently) that recent Nissan interiors were ugly and just bad quality, but wow this impressed me! Of course, it's nothing beautiful or particularly good-looking, but then again neither are the competitors (aside from the Mazda 6). I'm probably impressed because I expected it to be really bad for some reason. It looks very clean, simple, non-offensive. No negatives at all. Overall a really great car

    Just got a 2014 Altima 2.5SV... with 26k miles. An it's perfect, it's roomy (coming from a 2 door car), it's very comfortable... I feel like the seats have memory foam a tad bit... I feel like I sink into them for some reason. It's quiet inside the cabin, and the motor while driving... at times I can hardly hear the motor... since the CVT keeps the rpms real low. It's very economical... I get around 490-520 miles with a full tank all city driving. With my previous car, it was old, turbo charged and had issues and I was getting 200miles with a full tank. Although the previous car was a 16 gal tank, the Altimas 18 gal and great mpg keeps me from filling up so often... I fill up about twice a month commuting to work, whereas the previous car was once a week. All in all, I love it... and I'll be keeping it for a very long time, Nissan did good.

    Love this Altima! I drive a 2007 2.5 S & it's sporty to drive & even the 4-cylinder has great power & the CVT works really well! I'm really surprised that the top part of the dash is hard touch in the new Altima's, where it's all soft touch in my 07 Altima. I test drove a 2013 3.5 SV last year & Nissan really improved the seats even though they are comfortable enough in my 07. The 4-cylinder isn't a bad engine, but I really want to buy a V6 someday!

I currently drive a Subaru Outback current design, which is a fantastic general purpose car, but I'd like a second car more optimized for road trips, where I just want power and visibility. Bought my 2015 Altima 3.5SL in 8/15. It was a 'courtesy car' for the dealership. Had 8300 miles on it.
    It now has 54000 miles and here are my observations.... great engine (added an INJEN air intake). Gets Full-Syn every 5K. The CVT sucks. The car will
    lurch forward on stops as the CVT tries and fails to get things right. This can be dangerous when there are cars you're stopping behind. Assured clear distance required.
    I just think this engine produces way too torque for a CVT tranny to deal with. Tooling around town is a challenge, as the car
    can't maintain 25MPH without the tach jumping between 1000-1500 constantly. And the CVT whines and shutters too. I had to
    become a master of gas pedal modulation and braking to get things in check. It's been back to the dealership twice, I'm always told the CVT is fine
    and that those behaviors are 'normal'. I will never buy another CVT vehicle. That said, I routinely get 30MPG with that car, pretty amazing. My $.02

      I bought mine 2 months ago, 18k miles on it. I really feel what u described as abnormal, I've been to the dealership a few times and they can't get any codes for the tranny, but they did update my TCM. After the update I feel some erratic shifts as I ease on the gas/press the gas. Any suggestions on how to lessen the feeling? I've also noticed when the AC is on the "Judders" are less noticable at times.

    • @tamasmaksza6450
      @tamasmaksza6450 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@7HEREALDON Hey Don, since Nissan isn't willing to fix these CVT's (the replacements would be just as bad I imagine).... we have to learn (adapt) to driving these inferior transmissions. It's all about pedal modulation, sensible (over-sensible) use of braking is key. Also, there is a very narrow operating temperature curve to attain the best performance (which in NE Ohio means 40-60 degrees). The worst situation is stop-go traffic, where the CVT really chokes, again it's all about the mastery of the pedals. Make sure you do the fluid change every 20K miles, Nissan manual says the first at 60K.... had mine in (54K..loud bitching about CVT) and they did it at no charge (normally $330). This did little to improve things however. That said, I paid $1800 for the 120K mile extended warranty at purchase. I will never buy another CVT, or maybe even any Nissan again at this point. Best of luck, I feel your pain.

    • @7HEREALDON
      @7HEREALDON 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah this is for sure my first and last Nissan product, the bad thing about hot tranny fluid for me is that I live where it gets 100+ in the summer time for about 6-7 months throughout the year. I still feel this is a an abnormal characteristic when it comes to the erratic shifting and those Judders when coming down to 1000 rpms as it's an intermediate symptom that happened 85% of the time.

      Yes I always love the Nissan V6 engines. This car is better than most reviewers think, and hell of a lot cheaper than a comparable Accord or Camry. If you don't floor it that often and change the tranny fluid the car is going to be really reliable. The VQ engine is pretty bulletproof. You can pick up a one yr old with really low miles for around 20k which is a really good deal.

    How come I never see Honda's as rental car as opposed to nissans.

    • @theredline
      @theredline  10 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      Honda chooses to not sell their vehicles to fleet companies, other manufactures have programs that allow for direct sale from the factory. If you see a Honda as a rental, it's because the rental company bought it from a Honda dealership.

    • @J-W.-
      @J-W.- 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      2theRedline is there a specific reason they don't sell their car's to rental companies? Sell to many? Or no really need for the profit?

    • @theredline
      @theredline  10 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Jonathan Washington Selling directly to fleet sales is profitable for a manufacture but doing so can hurt the reputation of the brand which in turn, can lower the resale value. Ex-rental cars tend to be less expensive on the used car market versus an identical car that was owned by a consumer.

      Typically because people treat a rental different than they would their own car. I guess Honda doesn't want people to buy a used Honda that came from a rental fleet and have it have all kinds of problems because people who rented it drove the piss out of it and revved the engine when cold.

    do you recommend this V6 over the Accord V6? I know the Honda V6 has a 6 speed auto over this CVT which should be better right?

    • @oldtwins
      @oldtwins 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should just drive both and make your own decision. Some people enjoy the CVT because it is very responsive to throttle input. The Accord's auto 6 speed is a little slow to engage in passing and you have to stab the throttle quite a bit, which gives it a very on/off feeling for passing. The Accord V6 sedan also doesn't have paddle shifters or any kind of shift gate to allow for the gears to hold. So it's kinda ironic how the Accord V6 sedan gives you less control over your gearing when it's supposed to be the more "sporting" choice. Don't get me wrong though - the Accord is just as fast as the Altima. Also, don't ignore the Camry V6, I believe it trounces both of these cars.

    • @theredline
      @theredline  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally, we like the Accord more and much prefer its traditional 6-speed automatic. We also like the LED headlights and adaptive cruise control you get on the V6 Touring models, however, the 17" wheels look puny next to the Altima's 18s. The Honda will be more expensive initially but its sportier driving dynamics, additional features, and stronger resale value make it worth it in our opinion. But, test drive them both and decide for yourself. The refreshed 2015 Camry V6 could also be a strong choice as well, we're looking forward to testing one soon.

    • @MoeJaeAtelier
      @MoeJaeAtelier 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me I'm a spirited driver and enjoy the shift mode of a traditional automatic than a cvt as they tend to respond better than a CVT when it comes to spirited driving. Yah you can shift a CVT like an auto but in my opinion they dont respond in the manner of a true automatic to the point it feels so numb to me. I've had a gti with dsg and compared to a cvt is a difference from night and day. And that's why I drive a 350z 6spd manual. So i guess for me automatics are much more engaging than CVT. Thought I'd try one and it felt so.......boring. Just doesn't cut it for me I guess. :/

I've narrowed it down to 2012 mazda6 s gt, 2013 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL or 2013 Honda accord v6 sedan. like the style of the Mazda and Nissan. like the interior of the Nissan, like the quickness and efficiency of the accord and the lane watch on the Honda. the Mazda if I could find one I could get cheapest, the Nissan has the nicest interior. have only driven the Honda. I dont really know if I could buy the Nissan plain and simple cause of the CVT. if anyone has an opinion please let me know.

      My dad and i are considering getting me a 2015. Based on what ive read, transmission isnt as big of an issue as one may think. Truthfully, transmission can go bad based on how you drive. One way to mess up your transmission is by shifting gears without letting the car come to a full stop. Thats with any car. Plus, nissan has a pretty damn good warranty so unless you plan on keeping the nissan for over 10 years or like 120k miles, you dont have anything to worry about
