Marvel rivals has the potential to be the most popular. But nothing will ever beat the polish that overwatch has. and nothing will ever beat overwatch map designs. I don’t see valve managing to make a great game either, but they know how to make popular games as proven by CS.

Destiny doesn't have hero kits like Overwatch or Concord. Destiny only has 3 classes with lots of different things to pick between in each class. Overwatch and Concord has each hero locked into their own kit. That's what hero shooter means Overwatch is a team based hero shooter. That's all it is. About the deadlock leaks. The game is still in alpha, not beta if I'm not mistaken. Basically not ready for public test yet but somehow already got leaked.
>there is destructible environment, but for me it's just a huge gimmick this would work wonders in overwatch because attackers can force the defense out of some power positions. imagine if 2cp had destructible high ground to benefit attackers (or defenders in horizon lunar colony).
My biggest question for you Freedo is if Blizzard pulled the plug on overwatch entirely, what game are you going to pivot to playing and cover instead?
Trust me with how bad overwatches march maker is with blizzard now admitting they are carrying bad players up the ladder and the dps passive and hitbox buff this game is already dead me and 3 of my friends have quit just this week sick of getting team mates who are potato just because the match maker wants us to carry them.
I've never had too many people give me abuse on voice or bad chat but in the last few months the skill level of team comp has DRAMATICALLY dropped. I never thought it but I've been playing less and less. It was a good run boys.
Open queue is the only thing that worries me about Rivals. Game looks fun but will quickly lose steam for me if i keep losing games bc teammates cant build a comprehensive comp.
I'm looking forward to Concord and Marvel Rivals. In terms of which could be the best - probably Concord for game play since it seems a bit more put together than the rest. In terms of hype, Marvel Rivals takes the cake cuz its a different look of the characters and characters we haven't seen as much in video games (i.e., storm, magick, etc.) and seems interesting but we'll see how the balance goes. Rivals could be pretty good in the casual sense
When I explain what OW is to people I say “Imagine if Super Smash Bros was First Person” If Nintendo actually jumped in and did this I feel like they would take over
Splatoon is so close dude. They just need to reach out and grab it with a other IP. I wouldn't mind if Splatoon were that IP but the kiddy aesthetic is gonna lose traction.
Rivals does have a lot of visual clutter. I really hope they fix the choppy animations and large health bars. If Rivals ends up feeling as good as ow2 does on console controllers with good netcode I might drop Ow completely.
One thing to always keep in mind with any valve game, is that if the game is good, they have the biggest free piece of marketing for any AAA company, steam itself. They can literally blow this game up in ever single one of their users faces for free.
Lawbreakers never should have died man. It was just marketed poorly and pushed to market at what ended up being Overwatch's peak, just died by attrition. Splitgate was able to be successful because it had a less saturated market, LB should've done the same. There are efforts to unofficially revive it thankfully, so I hope it comes back in some regard.
I think putting Marvel Rivals in the same spot as OG Overwatch is taking away from its identity; rivals seems to be carving out its own piece of the pie and I say "have at it". Hero shooters be damned, I just want to play as a superhero (Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Hulk), these characters I've been admiring since I was a kid.
Honestly none of those will "kill" Overwatch (at least not directly), almost like saying a new battle royale will "kill" Overwatch just because it has abilities and is a shooting game. They're really different from OW2 in gameplay, "rules", mechanics, feel, artwork, size/scale, etc. Same way as Apex Legends and Valorant got the attention of some players, they're not "killers", games that resemble each other and have good traits for people who already enjoy OW2. Yes, a portion of the playerbase will like them and migrate, but not because they're "the same game, but better", but rather for the same reason TFT takes a portion of LOL's playerbase, just being an interesting game with similar qualities and a refreshing look at some concepts.
Finally, someone talking about Deadlick that has at least a basic understanding of what the game is trying to do. Its not like valorant, its not like TF2, It's a MOBA hero shooter, with emphasis on the MOBA part.
Nice to see someone that hasn’t immediately hate on concord just for existing lmao. I don’t have high hopes for it, but I feel bad for the developers with how much people are hating on the game even tho we don’t really know what it will play like yet
I think first person gameplay is pretty high on the list of requirements for the fan base. Marvel Rivals reminds me of smite more than it does overwatch personally. Concord has certainly peaked my interest the most of the 3.
Concord: Hard flop Deadlock: Very successful Marvel Rivals: Solid community with potential to beat overwatch in popularity. But it's hard to say cause so much depends on how they handle the game and player feedback.
I love gigantic but the Devs are dropping the ball on it, still hasn't received an update or an event. Gets stale real fast, already dropped to around 100 total players
Battleborn, in my opinion, was a great balance of MOBA and FPS. I had a blast playing and have not had the same feeling or experience of wanting to play it everyday with other games since. OW was fun and I did really enjoy it for a decent period of time. But OW2, idk I just cannot get the same feeling for some reason, but I definitely preferred the MOBA level up system in Battleborn over, 'here are you abilities'. If OW moved more in that direction, which they won't, then I may get back into it. I honestly am in love with OW characters and their design which keeps me interested enough to pay attention to updates, but the lack of story or creativity in what a player can do with the character just isn't there for me. I am interested to check out both Concord and Rivals, hopefully one of them will entice some sort of feeling I had with Battleborn. It is a shame that they put no marketing into it and it just died after one "season" due to people hate bashing it because of OW.
Concord is dead on arrival. Not because "MUH OVERWATCH BETTER" but because everything about it looks like dogshit, down to the character designs. Halo infinite on launch looks better than that thing.
I do not see OW1 as any less of a shooter than OW2, it was great when it came out and I think that everyone who loved it still remembers the game it was meant to be. That's why we all still play it If we haven't left yet. I don't know about the other games, but i played Marvel Rivals and I loved it. It did feel like OW1. I don't see that as being less of an fps experience either. The potential to break key environments is wonderful. It means that the game isn't hard gated by chokes and characters can't just camp high ground the whole game, like on Dorado. The cathedral like spaces where fights take place are wonderful because they have the potential to allow teams to spread out more if the right meta is encouraging to that positioning. That's what sucked about the trash balance of OW1 after they ruined it. It encouraged stacking of teams and aoe healing/sustain for days and the opposite of risky plays since they were more easily punished. super enclosed environments are part of that issue. Your views on those topics were not congruent with mine.
Watching this lets you know Freedo did not play Marvel Rivalz Closed ALPHA Test. One map actually has parts where once you destroy it it remains that way forever destroyed but for the Alpha since it only had 3 maps Tokyo 2099 is the only one that had this feature. Positioning is extremely important as well especially with the amount of verticality. Punisher or Hela on a high angle is brutal when no one contests them. Positioning yourself as Rocket to ensure you maximize your healing output is critical as well. There is more to the game then people think but its also fun which OW at the moment is lacking. Playing OW is boring and frustrating now after playing the CAT for Rivals. Sure the balance was crap but it was an ALPHA test and I expected there to be many quirks and hiccups but for an Alpha it was surprisingly smooth sailing for the most part which attributed to it being fun. I personally am very excited to play again during the CBT. Its been awhile since I've been this hyped for a multiplayer game, in fact its been since the OW closed beta in 2015 that I've been this excited for one!
The only one thats worrisome is Marvel Rivals, its got Marvels massive catalogue and solid Overwatch gameplay, Concord probably won't last a year, and Deadlock will live or die by Values interest in it.............
Marvel Rivals is super fun. I played the alpha and had a great time. The only issue I had, which was the exact same issue from OW1, was open queue. If I pick Hella for example cause i’ve played tank and support all night and want to finally play dps, I usually had to switch, because my stupid teammates all picked dps after me. So we either all run dps and just lose horribly and no one gets to have fun, or someone has to bite the bullet and switch to tank/support. It becomes a game of chicken. The same bs happened in OW1 and in competitive it was a mess. Nothing like someone stealing dps, forcing you to play tank/support, yet they can’t hit a single shot lol.
I've watched the other hero showcases by that channel and yes, they are terrible. I'm also pretty sure they're playing on an older torrent version of Deadlock, which has since been updated for people actually in the playtest.
I honestly hope Marvel Rivals does well and can really fill that void that was left from when Overwatch 2 ruined Overwatch. I'll take the insanity to 2016 Overwatch over this hell that is Overwatch 2.
5:06 Valve does not strike out with their games. The only example of that is Artifact which was still a damn good game, just not what the audience wanted, which is maybe what you're eluding to here. But every valve game ever released has been an amazing game at its fundamentals, so to say "Valve is the type of company that strikes out hard with their games" is very over exaggerated. Again that was only Artifact. This only applies to their 'ideas', like you were talking about. Perhaps because their a long time game dev studio and have only recently started to develop other projects(recently in the grand scheme).
I don't any of those will make me quit Overwatch, but I certainly want to play Marvel Rivals on the side. I enjoyed it in the alpha but I think it is still to different to Overwatch to be just a better version of a game I love.
Which game do you think will be the best hero shooter of them all?

About the deadlock leaks. The game is still in alpha, not beta if I'm not mistaken. Basically not ready for public test yet but somehow already got leaked.
Marathon by bungie is the only one I'm worried about
concord looks like its competing with lawbreakers, battlebordn and Paragon to see who can get shut down the fastest
Freedo knows how to farm those engagements
I had a dream that Your Destiny came back but also a new channel Your Halo
>there is destructible environment, but for me it's just a huge gimmick
this would work wonders in overwatch because attackers can force the defense out of some power positions.
imagine if 2cp had destructible high ground to benefit attackers (or defenders in horizon lunar colony).
You can’t kill something which is already dead
I've never had too many people give me abuse on voice or bad chat but in the last few months the skill level of team comp has DRAMATICALLY dropped. I never thought it but I've been playing less and less. It was a good run boys.
I wasn’t excited for any of these but you had my attention at IceFrog 👀👀
Same. Peeping the search engine now.
I'm so excited for rivals
Open queue is the only thing that worries me about Rivals. Game looks fun but will quickly lose steam for me if i keep losing games bc teammates cant build a comprehensive comp.
Man Lawbreakers had SOOOO much potential! Sad that it went away so quickly.
This is like saying "these artists could kill Elvis"
Deadlock looks more like a game called Natural Selection 2, Unreal Tournament 2004's onslaught mode, or the design of Command and Conquer: Renegade
Hopefully competition makes all hero shooters better
When I explain what OW is to people I say “Imagine if Super Smash Bros was First Person”
If Nintendo actually jumped in and did this I feel like they would take over
Splatoon is so close dude. They just need to reach out and grab it with a other IP. I wouldn't mind if Splatoon were that IP but the kiddy aesthetic is gonna lose traction.
I can't eat my enemy and poop them out as an egg. Literally unplayable.
This might be the worse most not even close comparison ever made
I would love to see OW as a platform fighting game.
if OW leaned heavy into environmental hazards then yes... there it is nintendo. make a hero based ring out shooter pronto
I was born into battle and the battle was born 🤓
Most interested in Deadlock since I used to love Monday Night Combat.
could kill? what kill? what overwhat?
Nah, OW2 is killing itself. If anything, these games can help OW improve. We need this competition in the industry.
hey man i hope you’re not done streaming. you’re the only streamer i can stand watching so i hope you make it a regular thing
13:30 I WISh that were true, brigs plagued my gold-diamond lobbies at the time, I stopped playing during the brigpocalypse because of that
You didn’t mention Star Wars hunters. I played it but tbh I like it but it’s not on overwatch’s level
Finally, someone talking about Deadlick that has at least a basic understanding of what the game is trying to do. Its not like valorant, its not like TF2, It's a MOBA hero shooter, with emphasis on the MOBA part.
Third-person view is a non-starter, and 2 of the 3 look like games from 1997 back when they didn't invent colors yet.
Nice to see someone that hasn’t immediately hate on concord just for existing lmao. I don’t have high hopes for it, but I feel bad for the developers with how much people are hating on the game even tho we don’t really know what it will play like yet
Overwatch is already dead😂
4 min dps q in gold. Can confirm this season killed the game.
@@FGPlus4 min and you think it's dead NOW? OW1 had 15 min DPS qp waits
@@CrossxFir3 when was it that long in gold?
And yet here you are in the comment section of a video about overwatch
@@Komani1152019-2022
I think first person gameplay is pretty high on the list of requirements for the fan base. Marvel Rivals reminds me of smite more than it does overwatch personally. Concord has certainly peaked my interest the most of the 3.
Concord: Hard flop
Deadlock: Very successful
Marvel Rivals: Solid community with potential to beat overwatch in popularity. But it's hard to say cause so much depends on how they handle the game and player feedback.
NO LOVE FOR GIGANTIC??
I love gigantic but the Devs are dropping the ball on it, still hasn't received an update or an event. Gets stale real fast, already dropped to around 100 total players
They already killed it. Also no content updates since it's "pay to play"
Marvel Rivals is pure HEAT 🔥
Only game that could kill Overwatch was itself.
I don''t know Ice Frog is pretty brilliant. I have some hopes he makes another golden goose. It may not kill Overwatch 2 but hopefully has some legs.
I mean i kind of hope they DO. Blizzard needs to understand their offerings in the past decade have been extremely par.
Can’t even type in chat GGs whit out getting banned!
Honestly I'm just glad we have more hero shooters. I've never been able to play games that dont enforce teamplay.
Marvel Rivals looks the best tho
What’s their to be worried about? If rivals is a great game that’s just more options for you
@@forthe3136 I said worried because the term "killed" personally I'm hype for Marvel Rivals because I'm a massive Marvel fan.
"horrible in balancing" 🤣🤣🤣
Brigitte has entered the chat.
its been years….and still, no other hero shooter comes close…❤
Deadlock demo is being played by someone who forgot to turn their monitor on.
12:03 wdym no other game comes close to? This is another predecessor which is arguably another smite
I don't any of those will make me quit Overwatch, but I certainly want to play Marvel Rivals on the side. I enjoyed it in the alpha but I think it is still to different to Overwatch to be just a better version of a game I love.
You can't kill a game that's already dead
The only one that can trully compete with OW2 is Rivals, by far, lets hope they can make a great game.
