Honestly, some of these "joke" changes really should just be implemented to buff underperforming heros
Sometimes modes like these are sneaky ways to test more “out there” changes like these. Actually idk if it happens often but it happened in apex with mirages ult so idk
feels like they're soft testing some things with these
like Lucio, who deserves all the parkour and movement buffs he can get, plus all the funny ones. The boop should boop himself, and his ult should send enemies into the air and kill anyone he lands on. Fuck it, he should get a double jump too.
Do these buffs actually do anything for the viability of Lucio? No, but will they make Lucio very very fun? yes.
@silverwolf340 I mean a solid 20% of the changes from last April fools was literally JUST ow2 changes- off the top of my head, Dva remech killing people, Zarya having two bubbles on a shared CD.
@@silverwolf340it happened to dva, calling in her mech in an enemy's head used to barely deal any damage, it was increased after the April fools where it dealt 1000+ damage

The torb turret on allies will be crazy lmao. Imagine Doomfist zooming around with a turret on his head shooting at everyone in line of sight like a fucking war drone

Put it on a Rein and have a mobile turret behind a strong barrier at all times, it also gives Rein some ranged pressure and pressure while blocking.

Wanted this change unironically for years Boop is too simple in its function, needed higher stats or an extra effect like this

Wait but there's some actually cool ideas and changes in there, I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the more reasonable ones make it out of the April fools mode in some form
They've done that in the past, too. I believe in an OW1 silly creators patch, Dva's remech got the damage, and then later on that got added to her kit
Lets be real, some of these changes are also testing some character rework options. And I love them
The Cass's one sounds great for a "duel" ability to replace Fan the Hammer or Nade. Just use a range or LOS for picking the random target, add timer/LOS break condition to win/lose duel and consider the possibility to alert the target they're being challenged or the entire lobby there's a new target.
god a whole lobby alert for who has a bounty on their head would be super sick. mini protect missions on a semi long cooldown would be a fun way to make cass interesting again. I'd give up nade any day.
Very reminiscent of Tyra from Paladins, and I'm all for it. Our cowboy needs something new.

Good news, for the april fool’s patch Brig 1.0 might as well be back.
I played a game yesterday being new to the game mode not expecting anything, and we were pushing the payload and a tiny malga came around the corner and i couldn’t breathe for a solid minute
I'm so sad seeing this. It is so obvious that these abilities are what the devs had prepared for the story missions. This is what PvE could've been like. PvE would've been an opportunity to have so many cool new abilities and to rework the ones we've had into something way different. This is the overwatch 2 I so desperately need. Please blizzard, at least make the April fools balance changes into arcade modes

Ok but in all seriousness some of these are actually a cool concept. Sigma's rock can do a slam. Cassidy having a mark and wanted passive and gives bonus for winning 1v1s. Some of these sound cool
Cassidy mark is just a semi worse lex passive from paladins. Lex’s gives bonus damage and you can see the target behind walls at a certain range (if I remember correctly) and with some cards lifesteal and healing against said target. Would be cool but would make him a bit annoying to 1v1 as is
In practice, playing cassidy with this change just creates the most toxic entitled DPS player mindset imaginable. *doesn't focus fire, plays away from team as a low mobility hero,* "guys I killed my target, why did you all lose the rest of the fight?" (I've played a bunch of Cass so far and I am super guilty of this lol).
Putting a turret on a Pharah is actually a game winning strat
Ramattra having a whole dialogue with himself about suffering while using his ult is so funny
that moira change should be permenant that way you have to heal more to deal damage
It seems to have less healing output. I was struggling to keep people alive. But I was also throwing dmg orbs into my team soo...
@@SilverHawk214 i mean they can reverse the keybinds like it was before but keep the concept of healing to be able to do damage
@@SilverHawk214 thats mainly because the healing is now single target and doesnt have a heal over time. Healing grouped allies is now much harder.

like mccree's bounty thing is really unique, shame to let that idea of permently adding hp through kills go to waste. And Reapers dual shotguns actually being dual shotguns
They have implemented april fools changes before. Dva remech damage and Zen kick are two notable examples.

With Baptiste, you can still jump vertically with the Exo Boots by walking backwards before jumping.
I actually love how Moira works for this mode

I'd honestly be curious and interested to see Ash have more play style with Bob being called in to do quick assists While the ult summons him to stick around as he already does.
Seeing the Bastion turret reload again is so awesome
I bet a lot of these abilities are ones that were going to be part of the PvE campaign skill tree upgrades and since that mode got axed they are using them for the April fools event. That way development wasn't a total waste and they at least get some use out of things that would otherwise never be used.

traditionally they also use april fools to test some abilities they actually want to add. I think that's how D.Vas mech crush got added
i would prefer see it wasted than implemented on this shit instead on a pve story mission
this and the season 7 game mode where we got upgrades I feel would be great PvE upgrades. I don’t think we need a whole ass tree, just need what they showed originally

Well, as I remember from April Fool's day experimental cards, only Zarya's 2 bubble charge mechanic was added to OW2

There's one more change to Lucio, using his sound wave now knocks Lucio away from the direction he's facing. (Like Ashe's coach gun)
The Moira change is funny to me. Mostly because I decided to play one match as her after swapping her controls to swap the attack/heal. Then it basically felt like I was playing the normal character with only the swapped piss/suck. It was fun.
Have you checked the range of her grape spray and healing grasp? In normal version, it is 15 meters and 20 meters respectively. So I wonder if they appropriated the ranges to her heal and damage even after the swap.

And why do I ESPECIALLY think that Reaper change is a hint at his rework?
I thought of that change before. Making Reaper have individual control of his guns and enabling us to fire them both at once for a big burst of damage. Glad to see them actually do it. Though, his rework needs more than that to make him more viable.

I main ball and I've noticed they changed the speed of the ball and how it interacts with walls cuz I've been hitting some crazy techs that I couldn't pull off consistently before the patch.
This update should just be a permanent game mode that can just be played at any time
For the Baptiste change, if You move backwards he still jumps up so he has both vertical and horizontal movement, I've played some games with Diving Super Queen and it's the most fun I've had in the game

As a cree main this passive should get added for real, obviously not as strong as in this patch but something like if you kill your target you have 20% damage reduction for 10sec stackable with your roll and ult. It will be a buff to highnoon for good cass player
When playing as rein, typing in chat makes you type like rein. Truly the most important change other than weaver’s petal and tree having eyes

The Junker Queen changes are genuinely amazing holy cow. Cassidy marking foes is kinda sick and would make a really cool mechanic when fine-tuned, Sigma pulling his rock down would be really fun, Virus spreading to others is sick, and so is Winston chain lightning, just ahhhhh I love these but please don't let them go to waste

I think the daytime thing runs the risk of making Illari way too map-dependent unfortunately.

I really like the mei ability, I'm not sure how useful it is but it's certainly cool. Though, it might be a bit much having both that and the wall, if it were adapted for the main mode. Maybe using one would put the other on cooldown or something like that? Similar to how zarya has two bubbles which share a cooldown, but one has a shorter cooldown.

April Fools changes are tied to maps. If you go to Modes, you'll see copies of each of the competitive game modes. Those copies contain them. Just disable the default ones, and enable the copies, and choose the maps from there.

Doom's Empowered quick melee reminds me of an idea I had where he could choose to uppercut with quick melee when Empowered instead of using empowered punch. Wouldn't be as strong as OW1 uppercut but it'd still pop doom and his opponent upward
This is the type of stuff that should've been added to PVE

the voicelines are insanely hilarious. I'm hoping Ashe summons her other butlers (like Jim or Stan). On a more serious hope, perhaps Sombra Illari and Venture could have spanish conversations with some noticeable confusion on slang.

Hoping that the Mercy change is one of the ones that gets carried over. Losing damage boost is eh, but it being replaced by a more proactive option where you are able to do the damage yourself, but not having to give up your healing completely is nice.
Since moira’s spray does more healing(or dmg in this case) as you go closer to it bc of the doppler effect inting into enemies and securing a kill is hilarious
Rein's change is good, just needs fine tuning. Orisa change is nice. I also like the Sigma change. --- The Winston change should have just already been in the game. --- Zarya's bubble change is nice, but it could be toned down to 1 instead of 1.75 --- Cass's change was good, could use some fine tuning though. --- Echo should never be allowed to copy Tanks unless your allowed to have multi tanks. Change my mind. ---

Torb turret could be more fleshed out, but it absolutely should stay it's by far the most fun thing to mess around with & combo with my team. --- Widow i'd give her 2 instead of 3. * or were they going for a spiderman type deal? *
Ana's Change was underwhelming.. I was hoping for 2 nades or something or a dash like weaver. -- Baptiste The ult Change just makes sense, but needs to be fine tuned. -- I honestly like the Kiriko change, I just feel like it be more fleshed out.
-- Lifeweaver should go up 12 intead of 8. --- Most of the Lucio changes are nice. except the bounce back on boops that's just straight up annoying & not the slightest bit fun. -- Mercy Change is honestly nice. -- I LOVE THE MOIRA CHANGE. --- Not a fan of the Zen change, neat idea, but I hate not being in control of whether I gain air.

perfect parry genji sounds awesome, I don't know how I haven't tried this update yet.
Some of these changes could be reworked a bit to actually be made more permanent, because they actually look kinda fun.
As JQ, if you throw the knife and hit someone, duck behind a wall, and then pull, you’ll get the damage and adrenaline heals of the knife without repurcussion since the wall will stop you.
That Genji crit deflect and Sigma rock actually sounds like a good idea.

So far, honestly pretty great. The most fun I’ve had in a while playing this game. I really only have 2 issues I’ve noticed, the Torb turret on certain hero’s (such as Pharah) makes it almost impossible to defeat. Secondly, Brig. She can basically 1v5 & is really hard to get past- her paired with someone like Zar makes it nearly impossible to do anything.
But! Otherwise! Came back to check out the April Fools (cuz I got tired of this game, which is surprising cuz I used to play every day) & honestly- I’m glad. Fun with friends! 🎉
