Dirty Skoda Karoq | First Wash in Almost a Year

- In this video I’ll be washing and applying some protection to this car which hadn’t been cleaned in just shy of a year! The car had the usual heavy build-up of mud and traffic film that you’d expect to see on a car that hadn’t had a washed for so long, so it needed a thorough pre-wash and careful contact wash to safely freshen the surfaced back up.

PS: I know the quick release short gun is a bit leaky at the start. I knocked the connection a bit loose when I was setting things up and forgot to tighten it 🙄😂
do you clean cars for a living or just do peoples you know just for youtube?
I just do it for people I know for TH-cam at the moment but I haven't ruled out doing it part-time maybe at some point in the future :)

Can't say I've tried the products Heather, however I'm almost out of smapoo and after talking to Michael and using the squid ink ultimate qd on my folks Mercedes SLK this weekend, will be buying some of the pure shampoo, looking forward to the parma violet scent. Looked awesome when you had finished! I haven't had chance to use brute yet although I did get a 5 litre in the Easter sale. However I have used prizm and really enjoyed it. Durability seems pretty good but the slickness is incredible and I love how it can be applied wet or dry and is suitable for all finishes including satin wraps.

Great video Heather. Your narration really sets you apart . Not a fan of Chemical Guys, but they make a gel water spot remover that is stellar. Another TH-camr, Harper’s, uses it on emblems and bright work. He brushes on and rinses off . As for wheel and tire cleaners, I use TW Hybrid Solutions Hyperfoam . I’ve yet to find a better tire cleaner/prep. It just melts dirt and old dressing even before agitation. Don’t remember if you’ve tried it.
Cheers Jeffrey :) That looks like a good water spot remover, I can imagine a gel being really beneficial. I've got the Tac Systems water spot remover spray which is good too. TW Hyper Foam is good stuff I've used that a few times actually, it's a really nice one to work with

Amazing video! Quick question how do you stick your number plates on? I use double sided suction cups but they never seem to work :( also how do you clean their number plate when yours is covering? Do you clean before or after? And what with? Thanks in advance 🙏🏽

Great video as always! Regarding your drying technique. I’ve tried that but instead a perfect finish i get little water dots? The towel is good so it shouldn’t be that i think.
Thanks Chris! It always helps if the towel is a bit damp to begin with but you could be doing that already! I'm lucky I'm in a soft water area so it's never been an issue for me but if I'm a bit slower when I'm drying then I get the odd water spot. I usually use either Optimum No Rinse (256:1 ratio) or Koch Chemie FSE to wipe them away if it happens
Hi Heather, another great video. I finally got around to getting a short trigger gun and also GT wash pad, what a difference, both making car cleaning better.
Just like to ask, what made you get into car cleaning, and are you going to make this a business where you go mobile.

It was just when I had my first car I noticed it wasn't super shiny so started going on TH-cam to figure out why and then went down the rabbit hole! I've not got any plans to do it as a business atm but I've definitely not ruled it out

Hi When you pre-wash the car, rinse it from the bottom up. This means that the prewash detergent remains longer and does not run off.

Hi Heather, with a vehicle that hasn’t been cleaned in almost a year, did you consider an iron removal on the paint, especially the lower panels?
I'd have liked to give it a proper decon to be honest but time was a bit short on the day unfortunately. Luckily the car is only a couple of years old so the paint did feel fairly smooth still
Great video, awesome job! Just an observation, I see a lot of sunlight in the video. As far as I know it's not recommended to wash cars in direct sunlight, but I also thought your quick drying might make that OK.
Thank you! It's definitely not ideal when the sun is out, I always try to park the car up in the shade but with this car coming in the middle of the day it wasn't possible unfortunately!
As long as I keep spritzing the panels with water during the cleaning process to stop anything drying out/ to keep them cool, and am quick during the drying stage it doesn't really cause too much issue. I also had Koch Chemie FSE on hand to remove any water spots but luckily there weren't any on the paint. It was only about 14-15 degrees on the day as well so it wasn't too bad, if it was much warmer then I'd have struggled!

Impressive results :) Slightly off topic but can you tell me which detergent to use to wash microfiber towels used for cleaning cars? Any particular brand? Pre-soak? If yes, with which product and for how long? Reason for asking is that I'm looking for an unbiased opinion rather than the seemingly paid-for product reviews on other channels. Many thanks in advance
Thank you! I just use some regular non-bio pods and don't use any fabric softeners :) I know there are quite a few dedicated "microfiber detergents" around but they're a bit pricey and the cloths always feel nice and soft using just regular pods

how long does it take you to blow dry vehicles? i have a smaller dryer and mostly use towels for drying. ive been wanting a dryer like yours for a while though. 🤔
It takes me about 10 mins usually on my car if I go for absolute perfection with it and don't use any towels. If you don't mind going around mopping up the odd few droplets of water with a towel then it'd probably be a little bit less. I've got a review of this one on the channel if you want to see a bit more of it!

Been watching you for a while, but I wanted to know what is the temperature like when you do these videos out in the sun?
I think it was about 14-15 degrees when I filmed this one. I have to be a bit careful when it's warmer so the products don't dry out so quickly so I usually keep misting the panels with the pressure washer if it starts becoming a risk

Thank you! Without filming it usually takes me 1-2 hours depending on what I'm doing/ how big the car is!

So much cemicals is not Good för the Environment, just use a brush and water!
You wash wrong. You schould use pressurized water from bottom to top. Otherwise you wash off the chemicals without pressure, it's ineffective.

My car has looked worse than this one in less than 24 hours after washing it, depending on the weather.
If I left it several months between washes, it would be far worse than this!
Isnt this channel just a copy of car cleaning guru ?..... even down to the scouse accent !
