Thanks for watching, as always! I’ve never seen a start quite like the one featured in this video. Also, just to clarify… there are still a couple of weeks remaining in the Low Fuel Motorsport season, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make them. So this is likely my last race of the season… I didn’t explain that too clearly in the intro! Enjoy the action ❤
I can't put a finger on it, but something about your commentary style makes these videos so great. It's like you're yelling, but its not loud. I don't know if that makes sense, but regardless keep up the great job, I enjoy these. Cheers!
Thank you! Haha, the trick is to lower the voiceover audio before publishing 🤣 in my early videos, the shouting was often too loud at 100%. So I try to dial it down a notch now, so it blends in with the engine noises a bit more. And does seem quite so loud! That’s the theory, anyway 🤣 But thanks for watching, I’m really pleased to hear you enjoy them. Cheers
First: Congrats for your podium Chris! Second: Very dirty move of Battista at the end! He had enough space but drove into you anyway and kept that unfairly gained position anyway. Reckless!
Yeah, normally I like to leave a bit of extra space to allow room for errors, but I didn’t have that luxury this time. It’s to stay fast and flat out up that hill when you’re out wide. So I went in tighter, but knew it was a risk if he hit the kerb. Disappointing, but still happy with the podium. Cheers Joe 😃
Haha, you sure did! Very unlike me, I took a few risks in this one, the passes into the chicane were a bit sketchy too… think I was on the verge of catastrophe most laps 🤣
"Look at the rearview mirror: there's no one in it!" 😂😂😂 This accident is a good contender for the biggest wreck. Was expecting you to insert a video link to your iRacing wreck on the Glen's back straight 😂 (I think it was)
You know you’re a long-time viewer when you remember ‘that’ incident! Funnily enough, I did consider it… just so I could say I’m no longer responsible for the biggest wreck seen at Watkins Glen 🤣🤣
Thanks mate. Yeah he did message me right after the race to say sorry… think he felt I didn’t leave him enough space. And to be fair, it was right… I usually try to leave 2 car widths when I give someone space, just to allow for a margin of error. It was too hard to do here, so I had to squeeze him a little bit. There was a car width there, just, but it didn’t allow for any kerb discrepancies!
@@chrisrogerssimracing but if you see his line going up the hill, he left way too much space between you guys. He should have been more to the middle to open up the turn nearing the top of the hill where he went over the kerb. That's on him imo.
"Jaeger Bombed!" Ha, love it! Great racing, too. It was interesting to see how much more aggressive you were in the first race having dropped back in the order, i.e. with a lot less to lose. Karma gave you the luck in the second race to avoid the carnage. Well done on a good finish nevertheless.
You’re bang on. I find it much easier to attack and be brave when I haven’t got much to lose. Already crashed, at the back of the pack, so figured I may as well throw it around a bit 🤣
Great run there Chris, just a little more getting use to that Ferrari and you'll be faster yet in it! Congrats on another podium Buddy!!! Thanks for sharing!
Chris, WHAT A SHIT SHOW!!! That crash was… pure art mate. Loved it 😂 lovely that you got away and took the podium there, well deserved. You survived everything that race threw at you! And that thumbnail is genius bro!
Haha thanks! Yeah while that crash was unfolding, the first thought in my head was “there’s gotta be a good thumbnail in that”! It was the best possible time for me to have my best ever LFM qualifying position. Usually, I qualify between P10 and P15… if I’d have been there, I doubt I’d have ever made it to T1!
Very nice! In case you decide to stick with the 296, practice brakeboosting for the start, as it's a tiny 6cylinder turbo, needs boost to get going from the line
Nice one, thanks for the tip! Yeah I may well stick with it for next season, now I’ve bought the DLC. Definitely need some more practice in it, so will give those starts a try. Thank you!
I think the LFM server probably overheated right then trying to run a bazillion crash calculations all at once! Great finish though Chris, and good to see you on the LFM podium.
Ahh thank you mate, that’s great to hear! Well until such time as you can get back racing again, I hope you can enjoy it vicariously through my vids! Cheers 😃
Congratulations on the podium. Quite a pile up. Tough one for the driver responsible. Good he apologised. That Ferrari looks good. Guess it will be in Raceroom in 10 years time😅
Yeah, as someone who has wiped out half the grid at Watkins Glen in iRacing before, I did feel sorry for the lad. One dab of the brakes because he edged in front of P1 before crossing the start line… such a simple and small mistake, but with a spectacularly bad outcome!
Well nice to see you're not blocking and taking the slow line anymore, I see it went wonderfully well! Amusing to see, like a true pro you blame the car. 😂 So Ferrari spent all that money developing the 296 and touch a kerb and it throws itself off the track, good job Kunos! I think the contact in race 2 was due to your swerve toward the inside made him over compensate and clip the kerb, twitching at high speed rarely ends well. Maybe a smidge of your driving time should be spent practicing, especially if you're going to take a new car out for the first time. Well thanks for the video, backs up my decision to give ACC a wide berth for sure. See you at Thruxton!
Yep, no complaints from me over that incident at the end. I usually always aim to leave 1.5 to 2 car widths for space, to allow a margin for error from either driver. But I didn’t do that here. You know what it’s like going up that hill… you can’t stay flat out if you stay out too wide. So I had to pinch him a bit and leave him the bare minimum single car width. But that eliminated any margin for error. And he probably felt he needed to use the kerb when he saw me squeezing. I knew the risk when I kept it flat out. Normally I’m always the one to lift and back out of a fight (you know that!!!) but here I just thought I’d go for it 🤣 it ended with exactly the same result though… me getting overtaken!
Another cracking viedo Chris! I'm similar in that I was in the M4 on v1.8 but have switched over to the Ferrari in v1.9. Feels to me that it has a lot more aero grip than the BMW and whether it's the update or the car, it's more engaging. It's a terrible starter though (compared to the new 911 which is a rocket shipoff the line). You're going to have to learn how to brake boost for better starts. Full throttle, hold the speed with the brake and then release. Good luck and I look forward to the next video.
Thanks for the tip on the starts! It definitely feels faster than the BMW, even if the lap times aren’t much different. I felt a bit more ‘on the edge’ too, so just need to learn its limits now!
Amazing crash! Never seen anything like it. Good racing and congrats on another podium. Are you not doing Paul Ricard or Imola in the last 2 weeks of the season then?
Thanks, it was a wild one! Yeah, unlikely I’ll get another race in this season, sadly. Paul Ricard is a track I’ve never raced, and I doubt I’ll have time to learn it next week. And I’m away the following week, so likely to miss Imola too. So yep, that might be it for this season for me.
What a start... and what a disaster a couple of seconds later... :) (Tip if you're interested: if you turn on the full map, you (and your viewers) can better see what's happening on other points of the track. Great help in yellow flag situations, for example.)
Thanks for the tip, I never thought about using the track hud in that way before. Always assumed it was just to help people learn the track. I’ll give it a try! 👍
@@chrisrogerssimracing By default it's not good for anything, but you can change it in the menu to show the map of the entire track, which is very useful imo.
Fantastic racing as always! Exciting, brilliant, and entertaining video also! One question, with the amount of touching and collision penalties, how do you keep your safety rating so high? Keep up the great content! Thanks in advance!
Good question! ACC / LFM is definitely more lenient with safety rating than iRacing. You can get away with clipping the grass and stuff like that. Usually anything below 10-12 incident points will give me an SR gain. I’m amazed I only picked up 4 in the first race - luckily, when I span, I never hit anything, so that kept the count low! Think I got 9 incident points in race 2, so just managed to avoid a drop.
Another podium :D At first I thought you clearly didn't give that guy enough room in that pass on you for second but after watching the replay, I agree the curb pushed him wide into you. You could have avoided the hit by giving him more room but that would increase the chance he'd get by. Although you avoided a larger wreck, which was likely after that hit 😅
Yeah! My usual strategy is to always leave 1.5 to 2 car widths, to allow for a margin of error from either driver. But it’s just not possible through that section. Any wider, and you have to lift as your momentum would carry you into the barrier. So I went as tight as I could, leaving 1 car width at most - but yeah, it meant there was no margin for error left. So I wasn’t annoyed at all… I knew the risk when I kept my foot down! The guy apologised straight after too… he said he felt he was running out of room so had to take the kerb. But I knew I was taking a risk by keeping it planted, and so tight, so no complaints at all from me 😃
I caused a LFM wreck at Suzuka that took out about 5 cars but that's peanuts compared to the wreck in this video . also I thought that was a dangerous move trying to squeeze by the car at the bus stop where you'd been spinning out all day but you made it stick so good play and as always a great action filled video
Yeah, in hindsight it was very unlike me to try those risky moves! To survive the inner loop while making a pass, you’re relying on one of the two drivers backing out. I’m pretty much always the driver who backs out, so I decided to go for it on this occasion. Thankfully, it paid off and the other guys were really safe. I still managed to stack it three times on my own though 🤣
Thank you Kyuzo. Yeah the first race was definitely a learning experience in the new car. I should have been making those mistakes in practice, trying to find the car’s limits, rather than in a race! But it helped put me in better shape for race 2 😃
Nice one. That intro gave me a laugh, though. 😂 Are you using the Coach Dave setups? If you are, I would actually suggest the soft setup. Rides kerbs a little better. But going 2-wide into the bus stop, I've found after yesterday, usually results in a 50% chance of survival. One of you is going to spin. In one race yesterday, I took the defensive line two laps from the end and the other driver lost control. Then on the last lap, did the same but this time I was the one who spun off.
I got really lucky with my passes into the loop… it really depends on one person backing out for both of you to survive. 99 times out of 100, I’m the one who always backs out. But I thought I’d make this the one time where I really pushed. As I proved though…. I don’t need to be two-wide to crash there… I can do it all by myself 🤣
Also, re: the setups, I’ve not tried Coach Dave at all. The one here, I found as a freebie download from someone’s TH-cam channel. I do wonder whether it would be worth trying out Coach Dave or a similar setup service, next season.
@Chris Rogers Sim Racing Nah. It's all about skill and talent. Even with these setups, you're about a second per lap faster than I am. I gave up on the TH-cam ones because half the time I'm sure the owner of the videos are trolling us as I often find the cars undriveable.
@@daviddavies3637 Haha, that exact thought crossed my mind too! Create the worst setup imaginable, say it’s a lap record setup and then laugh when mugs like me come and use it without any clue 🤣
Yeah, I was sorry to see you get caught up in it mate. I was pretty much the last car through to survive… basically, from P6 backwards were all wiped out. It’s the most insane thing I’ve ever seen - at least you can say you were a part of history 🤣 Seriously though, you’re owed a bit of good luck in your next races now!
@@chrisrogerssimracing I ended up in the wall twice in the same place, once at night and once in the rain. Saw a merc flip after hitting the outside wall in the same spot. The Lambo eats curbs better than the 296, but that last curb can just ruin the day of any car trying to take too big of a bite.
Yeah, to be fair a wreck this big is a rare occurrence! No matter what the platform, drivers will always make mistakes. But this was a pretty big one! Well, the mistake itself was pretty tiny… just a dab of the brakes at the wrong time. But even the smallest mistakes can cause the biggest disasters. I reckon he’ll think twice before braking at the green lights next time 🤣
Cheers mate, yeah the first race was definitely a learning experience. Ideally, I would have done more practice and found the car’s limits offline… not on lap one of a race 🤣 but it was good experience to understand the car better in race 2
BAttista should have conceded that place after the damage he has done to you. I hope you reported that. Interesting second race. Kind of a miracle for you, I think. Congrats on podium!
He sent me a message right after and said sorry. It was cool. I didn’t leave him much room at all… there was room for one car, but I didn’t leave any margin for error. Usually I like to leave 2 car widths, to be safe. But it was impossible on that corner… if you go too wide, you hit the barrier anyway unless you lift. So I knew I was taking a risk by keeping it flat out, but thought it was worth a try 😃
You did well with those front tyre pressures. How did you find the Ferrari? That guy in the 2nd race should have given the place back, you gave him plenty of room and it was his mistake that caused the contact.
Yeah it’s really fun to drive, and ‘feels’ much faster than the BMW. I made a load of mistakes in race one, but that was just me finding where the limits were (ideally should have done this in a practice session first!) Definitely messed up the front tyre pressures, but it still felt a bit more stable than if the BMW tyres would have been hitting 27.5. Yeah as for that incident, he did message me right after to say sorry. Usually I try to leave 1.5 or 2 car widths, just to allow a margin of error. It was too hard to do that here, so I went as tight as possible. But it gave me no leeway when he made that slight mistake.
@Chris Rogers Sim Racing glad you enjoyed it, you looked to have good pace in the first race relative to the other cars around you, just a few errors which happens getting used to a new car. 👍
@@ThomasRaceEngineering Thanks mate, yeah race one was purely a lack of experience in the car. Unfortunately, it took me those mistakes to learn where the car’s limits were. So it meant I was more prepared in race two!
Race one: I think you still did great, all things considered driving an unfamiliar car. Race two: a bit of luck and some great driving got you a deserved podium. You should have had 2nd. After that shove into the wall, he should have backed out and given you the spot back. Perhaps a call for the stewards... Going back to race one and the mistakes on the Inner Loop... it happens. But it looks like you learned from it and knew the Ferrari better for race two. I instead chose to drive the new Lambo EVO2 this season. I found it not quite as planted as the Ferrari, but I was faster in it than the 296. Anyway, on our first race of the season at Valencia (a practice race), I started 18 and finished 12. I was feeling great... one of my best result so far! On the actual points race the following week, I started 17. But on the second lap, I clipped the sausage curb at Turn 12 (Champi Herreros) and sent myself into the wall. Decided to do my mandatory pit then, take on a full load of fuel and new set of tires and run the remaining 40 minutes hoping for the best. Finished 27 out of 29 a lap down at the end. Oh well...
Ahh there’s nothing more soul-destroying than having 40 minutes still to race after a disaster like that. Well done for sticking with it. Luck will balance itself out eventually and you’ll get a great race in to make up 😃
Yeah, he did message me straight after to apologise. I think he felt I didn’t give him enough room so that he could stay off the kerb. It was tight, for sure. I definitely left him a car’s width - usually, I try to leave 2 car widths just to allow for a margin of error from either driver. But it just wasn’t possible at this section, so I went as tight as I could while leaving the bare minimum space. But I always felt it wasn’t going to end well!
why why why brake at the start?? all the cars are full throtling and the P1 just hit the brakes?? please tell me he got a month ban, at least, plz!!!!!!!
Well, his reason was because he was P2, but he’d moved ahead of P1 before the start line - so he hit the brakes to try and avoid a penalty for jumping a position before the start. But yeah, it was a catastrophic mistake to make!!!
Unfortunately LFM continues to be no better than a Sunday afternoon race at Monza on a Public Server, i.e. carnage. I've watched 100s of LFM races on YT and participated in perhaps a couple hundred and never seen one without your typical ramfest. Shame really; great idea but needs to take a much much stronger line on driver behaviours imho,
This one was particularly crazy. It wasn’t even like it was caused by a horrific divebomb or anything… literally just a dab of the brakes is all it took to cause it!
Yeah a few people have recommended I try ‘brake boosting’ to get away quicker. I’m not sure if I’ll stick with the Ferrari or not for next season… kinda seems a bit boring when everyone else is in it too. Might pick something different

Never thought I would get into a race with you and of course I’m involved in a 20 car pileup.
Never seen someone spin in the same place like that 3 times, and manage to keep it out of the wall every single time.
Haha I know, I was properly lucky there. Seeing the replays of other people losing it there, most of them ended up in the barrier.
So this is LFM...seems like there's as much carnage if not more as a public lobby with 50 safety rating and 1 track medal
I reckon he’ll think twice before braking at the green lights next time 🤣
Mixed results but great racing Chris, nice one 👍
When you drive over that curb try to lift your foot from the gaz. Your car is spinning because you are over accelerating (in race one).
Yeager Bombed!!! love it lol
Gotta admit, I was hoping I’d get chance use that line when I saw his name on the entry list 🤣
Another banger tip fella
Thank you Leigh! Cheers mate
0:05 omg and also LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
I mean, this channel is no stranger to disasters. But this was on a WHOLE new level of carnage 🤣
@@chrisrogerssimracing it was interesting tho. but congrats on a podium :D
@@firstjayjay Thank you mate, two in two weeks! After waiting two years for one 🤣
Bloody entertaining
Jager...Bombed 😆
I must admit, as soon as I saw Jäger on the entry list, I hoped I’d get chance to use that line 🤣
@@chrisrogerssimracing Great driving in both races Chris. Shame about the spins in 1st race but looks like you had plenty of pace
Luck will balance itself out eventually and you’ll get a great race in to make up 😃
Great, well done...
Batista should have given you that place back. Not cool, by him. I would definitely report.
I wouldn't report but he should have given back. Good of him to message you
"I hate curbs!"
- Enzo Ferrari... probably
Also it's another POOOOODDDIIIIUUUUUUMMM! Very nice!
Yeah, I wait 2 years for one, and then two come along in two weeks! 🥳
why why why brake at the start?? all the cars are full throtling and the P1 just hit the brakes??
please tell me he got a month ban, at least, plz!!!!!!!
Well, his reason was because he was P2, but he’d moved ahead of P1 before the start line - so he hit the brakes to try and avoid a penalty for jumping a position before the start. But yeah, it was a catastrophic mistake to make!!!
@@chrisrogerssimracing nonetheless, he should receive a penalti
Are these kinds of crashes a common thing in these online races?
Not quite on this scale! But yes, start line and T1 wrecks are a problem
Unbelievable. XD
One slight dab of the brakes, just for a millisecond, is all it took to cause that 🤣
7 days of ban is waiting for someone haha
Was quite spectacular, wasn’t it. Crazy how one dab of the brakes can cause THAT much devastation!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 (no idea what else to say about that)
They barely made it to the starting line! 😂
Yep, I think that sums it up every bit as well as any words could!
👍
Unfortunately LFM continues to be no better than a Sunday afternoon race at Monza on a Public Server, i.e. carnage. I've watched 100s of LFM races on YT and participated in perhaps a couple hundred and never seen one without your typical ramfest. Shame really; great idea but needs to take a much much stronger line on driver behaviours imho,
This one was particularly crazy. It wasn’t even like it was caused by a horrific divebomb or anything… literally just a dab of the brakes is all it took to cause it!
😊👍💯👌😉😜
😵😵💫🙄🤦♂
Just another day on track in the sim racing world 🤣
Shhhhhhj
Ferrari is always slow off the line
Yeah a few people have recommended I try ‘brake boosting’ to get away quicker. I’m not sure if I’ll stick with the Ferrari or not for next season… kinda seems a bit boring when everyone else is in it too. Might pick something different
