Getting the PERFECT Fitment with 33's!! *ANY RUBBING??*

  • Finally installing the new wheels and tires on my 3rd generation Toyota Tacoma!! . Today the RTX wheels finally go on the truck! It's been sitting in the drive way for the better part of the week and today it gets to drive some! The wheels are 17x9 with a 0 offset wrapped in a 33x11.5 tire. I could have gone a little wider, but I did save some weight with these tires and still have no rubbing. I think this is a good setup for now and can't wait to see if I get some better mpg as well, not that it's important but just something else to see! Stay tuned for more projects coming!

    Real nice set up . Im thinking of getting that same size tire . You think 285/75 /17 will rub ? Is there a huge diff from 285/70/17 with -12 offset wheel

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think there is a huge difference in those tires, but look up the brand you want to see the differences. -12 would definitely rub unless you had the cab chop. I'm at 0 offset, and they almost rub, if I had wider tires I would have needed the chop done.

    Very nice truck! You apparently have done your home work on the tires and lift. Whats the stock rim offset compared to what you have now. Do they make rims the will set the tire out even more? Like maybe another inch.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think they are around +25 I think. New ones stick out like an inch farther than stock. You can get way more aggressive offset if you'd like. Some big diesel trucks run -44 and the whole tires/wheel sticks out. All depends on the look you're going for.

      I have 285/75/17 so those specs should be very similar to mine. I barely had any rubbing, maybe slightly in reverse on non level pavement, and some rubbing offroad, but not enough to trim anything. So my wheels are 17x9 0 offset with a 4.5'' backspace, I had 285/70/17's with no issues. I did do the CMC for some extra clearance behind the front tire though and recently went to 305/70/17 (34's). I also have aftermarket UCA's and tomorrows video is on a new alignment, definitely check that out because I don't have any rubbing with my 34's now!! • @BrosFOURRSpeed

      Nope! The only thing I would mention is the speedometer recalibration, but even with the 34's I'm running now, I'm off by like 4 mph, but it's not worth the $400 to me to buy that and change it. Other than that, you'll be fine with slightly larger tires!

  • @mmunoz5875
    @mmunoz5875 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Larger tires is a must in order to get an aggressive look. Btw, you're still going to get some rubbing and you will definitely need a CMC. Also, you might get some rubbing when making sharp turns on the inside frame. I had that problem and bought some 1"1/2 spiders wheel spacers. Love the tires set up!👍

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I showed in the video that there isn't any rubbing, even at full crank which I didn't show. I won't need the cmc unless I do spacers or when I get more aggressive offset. Offroad there will be slight rubbing, but daily driving I don't have any rubbing issues.

      It's from BP fabricating! If you have a stock truck, try to stay within what the factory trie specs are, you can probably go a little taller and keep the stock width or do the opposite. Any larger both height and width is when you start to rub on stock height.

    So, just to be sure I’m understanding you correctly.
    You’re saying if I get at least a 2” lift, with a 285/70/17 tire and 17x9 wheels with a 0 offset (backspacing between 4”-6”), I should NOT have to do any CMC or pinch weld mods? Maybe just minor trimming? I don’t off-road at all.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My lift is about 3'', maybe a little higher and I had a 33x12.5 with a 19x9 +10 and didn't rub hardly at all, very minor rubbing even offroad, with my new set up there was zero offset, I had no rubbing until I added the spacers and did the cmc and pinch mod!

    • @anthonygiordano3991
      @anthonygiordano3991 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bros FOURR Speed - Which makes sense because by adding the spacers, it was similar to a more negative offset.. thus requiring you to now do the CMC and PW mods. So, what lift are you on? I was considering the Eibach pro truck lift, but I believe that’s only gonna get me 2-2.5” of lift.

    Help! Just got some brand new nitto ridge grapplers installed on my Tacoma yesterday. They look great, but they rub on my mudflaps pretty badly when turning in reverse or just slightly tapping the brake while turning. It’s a pretty big area they’re rubbing on. Is there a fix for this? I’d like to keep the OEM flaps because of the classic Toyota look and protection of my paint but I noticed you didn’t have yours on. Do you notice much paint chipping? Thanks so much!!!!

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed

      I've never had any paint chips even from the 34's I'm running now! This truck never had mud flaps on it! I've put 45k miles on this truck and never experienced a paint chip from the tires! Two things you can do! First is trimming! If you can even heat up the mud flap and push the plastic away from the tire, might be able to get by with that!

    285s are the perfect size for a Tacoma. You'll probably still have rubbing on the cab but that's not the worst thing to be done. Definitely look better than 18" wheels, too. In terms of off roading you're probably better off with 16s (even more sidewall) but you get way more choices of tires, wheels in 17 luckily. Do 34s next, 285/75r17s. ;)

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think that's possible on a stock truck without trimming a lot. The pro has a bit of a lift which might help, but going 10 wide with a 33, it would have to be a skinny tire I think to fit. Are you ok with doing the cab chop mount and some trimming?

    • @jeangt9865
      @jeangt9865 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No the thing about 33" is that you would definitely have to slightly trim the back flaps on the front wheel setup especially when you are trying to make a full uturn in or out. The 33" would definitely touch the back end on the front fender's, but it's definitely fine on the rear end as in the back wheels, the fenders are pretty much spaced out well on the rear end. As long as you don't mind trimming out a bit you are definitely good to go with a 33"" setup.
      If not, once againl this is my personal choice and opinion upto a 32" setup is much better and you really can't tell the difference at a glance between the 32 and 33.
      But take it out to a tire or rim shop you check it out there and see for yourself.
