I cried throughout this. I'm raising my 2 grandkids. One has schizophrenia, brought on by trauma, along with being on the autism spectrum. The other has learning disabilities. I love them both so very much, but raising them alone can be extremely overwhelming. There are times when I just check out, by sleep or phone time. Your positivity is a true blessing.
Hang in there Sunnybrook, you are clearly an amazing person and your hard work and suffering will eventually pay off. Keep trying and do the best you can. And yes, you have the right to check out sometimes!
No cap props to granny you keep going.Just that little note made me get goose bumps, my cousin has autism I am not raising him but thus video did remind me of him because he is always laughing and it always seems to make me happy.
As an autistic adult, this makes me so extra happy because it shows we do feel, we do want connection, we absolutely do love. We pay attention even when it looks like we’re not! We just pay attention differently. His superpower is all the things that are often considered harmful stereotypes. Awesome kid. Thanks for sharing.
@@brandonkonieczki5048 lol well it made me happy to start with to see a parent addressing autism is such a great way, not calling themselves an “autism dad”, understanding and explaining sensory overload really well, explaining how we might look vs. what our abilities actually are, referencing awesome people like Carly Fleischmann, etc., just lots of awesomeness. So well done. But *extra* happy hearing his superpower happens to be one that breaks so many stigmas that surround ASD!
Mark, for all the laughter you've brought me in your videos, being a dad myself, i couldnt help but cry while watching this video. You are such an awesome person!
My Grandson was in this film (seeing Santa). I'm so proud of everything he has achieved. He may be considered "different" but sometimes his world is so much better than ours! He doesn't know when people are mean. He loves everyone. Thank you for raising awareness of autism.

Im on the spectrem too and he explained it so well without it sounding bad as you said. My differences is I cant come out of my shell even at home, I can go out cause its to much for me to handle. Im very awkward I cant talk to people or make conversation.
And now I’m crying. Thank you for this. My son is 8 and has ASD, he just recently found your channel through your squirrel obstacle course and glitter bombs. He wants to be an engineer. You just blew his mind. What a special treat for him to see a connection. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
As a fellow parent of an autistic child (now 29 and working full time), I am thrilled beyond words that you recognize how little support there is for autistic adults. Our daughter is brilliant and funny and has an amazing memory; her area of expertise (something typical of those on the spectrum) is her knowledge of dogs. She has now been a professional dog groomer for more than 5 years, and is married. Most autistic adults cannot hold down a job, and she struggles, too, due to workplace bullying, and just trying to overcome her executive function problems. These keep her from being able to select and focus on the most important task, and to get it done on a timely basis. So many people seem sympathetic, but are you willing to focus on their assets and live with the fact that they might say things that irritate you or are misunderstood or they need to have the RULES adjusted a bit so that things are fair for them, too? That’s the key, and I challenge everyone who wants to help Mark’s son and my daughter and the millions of autistic persons who get bullied at school and at work because they might he hard to be friends with or because they seem to make the perfect target to pick on. Don’t do it; stand up for them; help them remember the things they need to do everyday and forgive them if they take longer than everyone else. Because their minds are capable of so much more. Trust me. It is work, but it is SO worth it! Thank you to Mark.
Man I hurts to see what community we have made :(. I’m so happy for you, you have a great life and I’m sure your daughter and your wife love your all they way to the end of time
Thanks for sharing! Your daughter sounds like an incredible person! I hope she continues to find happiness and success! Great job as a parent for fostering her growth and development
My mother works for a great organization called Coventry Reserve, they do great things all the time, they are kind of like a center where everyone with a little bit of extra can go the have fun.

As an autistic 14 year old who sometimes doesn't know how to explain to people (even my own dad) how autism effects me and my life and makes life hard sometimes I can deeply appreciate this video.
That must be really difficult. I just wish for the best for people like you, I hope that even with challenges like these they can still have happy lives and continue making people happy.

I've struggled with living with autism all my life. Nonverbal at 3, diagnosed at 5 1/2, and bullied throughout middle and high school. Now, I'm one year out from a math degree and two years out from a Master's in Math and Education!! Also, I'm Working a research internship to help students with autism learn math using technology interventions! Edit: Y'all are too kind the comments are kinda humbling :).
My uncle is autistic, and I would have never thought he was going through this much in his mind... Thank you for showing us what autistic folks go through everyday, they are truly giants among us :)
I have a sister with Down Syndrome and I have never seen someone who loves people as much as her. She sometimes gets overwhelmed and can't focus, but she loves making people happy. She laughs all the time and makes me so happy to see her growing. I have gone to a camp that is specifically designed for kids and adults with special needs once and will be going again this year. I get to volunteer and help these amazing people have an amazing time at camp. I also volunteer at a therapeutic barn and these kids are amazing and you get to see them make huge strides and see them be proud of themselves. it's one of the best parts of my week and it's so encouraging.
I’m autistic and seeing all these people that care has made me cry. People can be so mean when they find out you have special needs so just seeing this has made my day.
Honestly you're better than most people i can find around me. You understand the value of people and bring normal so I think you deserve much better than those mean people out there. And of course, stay safe ✌️

You're doing great mama!
As an autistic adult, this makes me so extra happy because it shows we do feel, we do want connection, we absolutely do love. We pay attention even when it looks like we’re not! We just pay attention differently. His superpower is all the things that are often considered harmful stereotypes. Awesome kid. Thanks for sharing.
ha! EXTRA happy
