- Synopsis: Choi Munbok is the Devil Rider, a messenger that's so fast that no enemy can catch him as he rides through their camps. During the years of the Manchu War, lords of the court gather to try and call upon scattered soldiers to mount a counterattack against the Manchu army. In order to do this they need a messenger that can ride fast and escape enemy hands. The Devil Rider is just the man but his wife is due to give birth on the night of his departure. He sacrifices being there with her to do his duty for his country. He manages to ride through the enemy, but it's all in vain. His wife dies in labor and the king has already signed peace negotiations with the Manchus. This story takes place 14 years after these events as a cunning and powerful woman named Seoyeon tries to enact revenge for her father's death. She needs the Devil Rider to carry out.....

Many dramas special really proved that Korea has good directors,actors and scriptwriter.Sadly almost all 18+ episodes dramas that I've been watching said the otherwise.I'm glad that KBSWorld broadcasts this kind of program.

I love it the plot was beautiful specially it teaches us about the low class and how they live and has been treated after their loyalty. And still were able to live a happy life.

This was a great film wonderful plot…sadly he felt as though he sacrificed everything for nothing. He still did not receive the recognition he should have from the King i guess knowing he saved him was enough.

In opinion , the king doesn’t deserve to live 😪. This movie is just an example of how bad the poor and powerless are treated regardless of their loyalty .

Actors acting is a great movie....I saw it well
Lots of good performer in Korea. I bow down to that. Most of the time however, in a dining scene plenty of amazing foods on the table BUT nobody's eating...??only talking...I find it hilarious...anyway I'm entertained daily. Love you park bo gum,

I am always worried for the horses whenever I watch movies like this with horses in it but anyways the movie was great

- If the messenger team of the grand prince (the king in the futuer) were to succeed in performing their duties during the war, Korean history could be changed. If so, Korea would not humiliatingly enter into "friendly relations" with their love-and-hatred relatives, Manchurian who conquered China. The general, who fought to the end to protect his country, could be one of historical heros.
- But unfortunately, it seems that they failed. Korean King bowed down to Manchurian Emperor, and the war ended. The sycophants jealous of the general got the power. So the general, who should be extolled as a national hero, was saddly beaten to death like a dog because the sycophants want to win all hearts from Manchurian Emperor. Even they have tried to assassinate their king. Most of all, the Devil Ride became totally dejected after he failed. His friend became a bully... Maybe because of the feelings of guilt.
- The history always have been written in the name of kings and nobles. Yes, I know they have gotten important roles in the history. However, we need to realize how many nameless grass roots have made their own critical remarks in the history and yet disappeared without traces.

She was able to achieve her goal. She cleared her fathers name and got to get her nobility reinstated (Which is portrayed by her being carried in a litter).

I think the mistress was given her noble status back at the end (though how, we're not sure). And the protector-dude-who-turned-evil's words were right all along: no one appreciated their efforts and Manbuk just let everybody use him over and over again.
The scene when Munbok took off the cloth strips he wrapped around his wrist was really meaningful, especially with the close up of the king's face. Still, I couldn't understand the king's expression--I don't know if it's the actor's problem or the script's.
